Well I did get another one of your songs done today and I practiced a bit to this black metal stuff I'm doing with a friend. I wish his recordings were cleaner so I can make out the riff changes more, right now they are a wash.

Me oh my I feel as if I'm channeling Mr. Nodveidt as of late. Now I'm working on a song that starts out with a Dissection-esque riff then goes into some brutal thrashing riffs and a death metal esque breakdown that cracks my skull with power. I made a lot of progress with drums yesterday I'll have another song recorded this weekend probably. Treeweaver album over halfway done. Have some more pictures for the inserts of the CD and have the layout planned out already in my head. I'm lovin' it right now man!

Also at least one song will have high pitched speed metal vocals... I have always been good at screaming like a girl, I tell ya.

Mixing down some deathgrind from SLK and I. It's coming out nice, I'm really digging it. Now I just need to arrange some lyrics to songs, I have some written by kinda free-form, not to any set music. Gotta adjust that.

Recorded some guitar tracks, did a lot of EQ work, and watched an episode of Deadwood. Now it's time for sleep. This weekend I'm going to be doing a lot of recording, and I'm going to try to get a lot of work done on my les paul. If the paint has cured enough, I may be able to polish it up some. With the weather getting colder though, I'll probably have to wait another week or two to do that. I may just say fuck it and finish the guitar anyways though, hahah.

Made some cool riffs today and finished the drum parts for a song. Like butter, I am on a roll!

Continued mixing the grind project, and finally got a guitar tone I'm happy with. I tried my ampeg with my isolation cab, and it just wasn't sounding right, so I tried my ampeg with my vintage 15" speaker, which sounded great but had no clarity on the fast stuff so I finally ended up using my peavey VTM60 and a tube screamer, which sounded good. It's just an old JCM800 clone from the 80s, so it has plenty of midrange even with the knob down on 3, which means it stands out in a mix better. Now I just have to figure out a vocal pattern for it and one song will be done.

First song done! SLK, hope you don't mind me posting it here. I'm really excited with how it turned out.

Played a beasting gig tonight with Uncoffined and Bonesaw. We were pretty good, we managed to keep everything super fast and pretty damn tight. And I actually managed to remember all my lyrics, which is always nice. Still a bit to work on, as we still want to be a lot faster, and I want my vocals a bit better, but we're still pretty happy with how it went. And in three weeks we're gigging with Corrupt Moral Altar and Bonesaw again, so we're pretty happy with how things are going right now, because getting to see Bonesaw for free is never a bad thing.

You've got some badass riffs there, and I'm really enjoying the vocals. Just listened to it for the first time and as far as complaints go I couldn't really hear the toms, but maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention.

Another song that just needs vocals done. Now I'm going to be focusing on writing and recording the next song.

If anyone would like to hear the song I just recorded instruments for it's available for streaming on my bandcamp page in my signature. It replaced the last one I had up there as the preview song.

Finished my les paul, strung it up and gave it a play. It sounds nice, I'm happy. While it doesn't sound quite as good as my old Destroyer, nothing really does, but it sounds good. Now I can let my destroyer age peacefully.

I'm really starting to like the les paul shape in general. I think I may make another one. Not sure. I might start my carved top flying V project first.

Sounds good Micrulah aside from me not liking the tone the guitars have. I don't know it sounds off to me. But the sound sound great.

Naw infinite didn't mind you putting it up at all, sounds even better than when I previewed it the other night.

Friday had couple of friends over and ran through a song that's pure black metal. tried to record a demo but was pretty tired so the rush job on it damn sucked. well I have it down at least.

today wrote and recorded the last 3 dragunov songs for a split we are doing with Kamikaze Pilots. so that means I'm going to mix down dragunov's side and see how long it is and then write and mix KP's side quickly after.

didn't do anything else musically after that, had to run a stupid cab I bought on friday back to where I got it. It wasn't what I was lead to believe and it didn't work. It was a Peavey 410 column cab that's for a PA. I was lead to believe it was a 412 column which is still used for a PA but could handle up to 100wattage and could be used for a guitar cab. I plugged it up and it sounded good for 12 seconds and it died, took the grill off and kinda realized then it was 10's I was looking at. Oh well. Looking at some other shit right now to get. a Kustom 412 tuck and roll column, and I'm looking at this Traynor 412 cab. I don't know too much about Traynor other than my friend in FL likes them. I actually had an 810 traynor cab that needed to be rewired and shit, but I didn't have the time so I traded it to him for a Carvin 412 with loaded Vintage 30s they all went to shit.

Inifinite, build me a 8 string guitar.

Never built anything more than a regular 6 string. I should build a bass some time.

Forgot to mention, I bought a peavey 6505+ today, so I haven't accomplished anything, I've just been playing through that all day. That thing sounds incredible.

Fucking nice! post some clips later when you can.

learn how! i've been kinda looking to get a new guitar but I wanted something like an 8 string cause I can't really justify anything less with the amount of 6 strings I already have.

All of a sudden I have an itch to have a proper logo for Gloaming drawn. Do you guys have any suggestions for where to look? The forum used to be crawling with people who just did that kind of shit all the time for free. Yes, I saw that recent thread but that guy's style wasn't exactly what I was looking for.

infinite, that sounds cool, post some clips up!

Haven't done any musically related things recently aside from rehearsing and practicing guitar/writing solos. The latter comes to you easier and easier the more you do it.

I've been listening to a lot of Jig-Ai and Nasum the past few days, so I decided to write another grind album/EP to break in my 6505+ and new guitar. I'll post some tracks later today.

I need to replace the greenback in my isolation cab. It has a dark, midrange-heavy sound that I don't like. Nonetheless, here's a deathgrind song I wrote for a sound test for my new 6505+ and new guitar

Thanks! I'm going to save my pennies and get a different speaker, I think it'll sound even better with something else. Probably shouldn't use one of my old AlNiCo 12" speakers from the 1960s, as they have like a 10-15 watt power handling at the most, and this amp is 120 watts. It would melt the voice coil. It would probably sound good though. Hmmmm.....

Talking to me? I don't want anything that really feels gory or spiky at all; I'm more interested in those sort of unusual or occult-looking logos. Examples would be Monomakh, Sonne Adam, Loss, Lycus, Vorum, etc. I really dig the logo for this Belgian funeral doom band, Monads:

http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Monads/3540334090

Maybe even just some classy font with some art around it like Vorum's would be cool.

In a down mood, so worked on some doom metal. Got a pretty good song going on, and actually I have almost an entire album done - and I just released a doom album like 2 months ago. I'll sit on this one for a bit and tweak it and make sure my next doom release is perfect. One of my reviews of my last doom album was very positive and said that it would be hard to follow it up... I intend to do that. It'll take some effort, but I'm going to write the most fucking depressing, minor key, kill yourself and everyone doom album ever. BAM. And then I'll watch some porn and beat off.

Thanks man, I appreciate that. Stream away. I got a lot of negative emotions out with that album, it was like therapy to me. I've been working on the follow up a lot, and once I put out this black metal album I'll probably go ahead and put out another doom album. Like I said, it's good therapy. I wrote a pretty good doom song tonight, it'll definitely fit in the next album.

Found the culprit guitar track in the Gloaming song I have on my bandcamp and re-did it so it's not so horribly out-of-time. While I was at it, I did a different mix/master using some new tricks I learned, especially regarding mastering. I've also been talking with Metantoine about doing a split with his death/doom project and Gloaming, maybe a couple songs each. That could be well off in the future though, so I might start working on loads of Gloaming material soon for the split and a full-length.

I've also clearly gotta work on my vocals for it, haha.

Writing original black metal songs. In the style of Dissection, Dark Funeral, ect. The old riff oriented stuff. I been playing guitar and vocals for over 10 years now. I will post a video once I get a chance

That's what I like to hear my man. I'll probably order the CD when I get the chance. :)

The Dissection-esque song I mentioned a few days ago is turning out to be very Morbid Angel influenced, specifically the Heretic album, my favorite by them along with Abominations. It's pretty technical and will probably just end up being a nice riff-tacular instrumental piece.

Well HPGD's been kind enough to put it up on BC way before I had the time to do it, so that's cool :D

infinite that sounds cool. I like your Licrest stuff a lot more than the straight up death metal stuff you wrote, tbh :P

I just made some more fast riffs stringing together to go with the more melodic Heretic style riffs. It's a good sign that the riffs you make become increasingly difficult to play!!

So hopefully by tomorrow or Wednesday we will have our EP finished and in our hands. We are going to put it on Bandcamp for pay what you want and eventually do a run of CD's. Got enough material to do a split with someone as well, probably going to be MDFL from Clevo.

Confirming gigs with some bands, arguing with others. Got to love it...

Also a video from my blackthrash band's gig on Friday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgkWXY0RS00 - if you like stuff like Aura Noir, old Sepultura, Venom, or that sort of thing, you might be interested in checking it out. Still a bit rough around the edges, but we're getting there.

I've recently been writing some stuff just in my head without writing it down lately. This is something I never tried to do before and I have no idea if I always could, but somehow its working out. Anyone else ever work like that?

Also waiting on finding a deal on the amp I want, can't wait to play on something decent again. It has been forever.

That's quite a cool thing you got going on there awblaster. I thought the performance coulda used more energy/aggression but as it stands everyone seems pretty tight and there're some good riffs in the song, keep it up!

Had practice and used a Boss Hyper FUZZ FZ-2 with my guitar. It was messy but it was a unique tone that I really liked. Electric Wizard used it on Dopethrone and the tone on that album is just crushing so I think I might keep it.
