Oh man.... fuck playing guitar in 30 degree weather (like -1 Celsius). My shivering arm clashes with my picking style and my finger can't feel the strings. Maybe I should set my shoes on fire next time I'm playing in the cold.

You Americans don't know how lucky you are, equipment wise.

The second hand market here is crap, the taxes for new stuff is high and everything is expensive.

Oh, I definitely realize how lucky I am. Actually, an example here: I have a chance to trade my VH140c head for a mid-80s VL modded JCM 800. lolwut

I'd feel guilty letting it go right now with some of the minor flaws it has. It really just needs to take a bath in some contact cleaner, but still. Plus, it sounds rad whenever it's up and running properly, so I'd kick myself in the head for letting it go, even for that Marshall. :oh shit:

You're so right Porman...worst thing for me are those cheap 7-string (Douglas guitars). Heard they're really decent for their price, but if I'd want to buy one, shipping would cost as much as the guitar itself, it's driving me mad.

Oh I'm very aware. I saw someone pay 4 grand for a Sunn Model T cause it was in Australia. They at best go for 1500 over here.

I think I'll be heading to pensacola to get my Sunn Enforcer worked on. I asked my friend who messes around with shit if he knew someone or if he wanted to cause i'd pay him. He told me Blue Angel Music, I'm familar with them cause I bought a Traynor 412 off them back in Dec. So I don't mind driving over and giving them the business.

Those Marshalls come up far more often than those Ampeg Vh140c's don't do it.

Lucky me, I landed a job that pays a filthy amount of money. I bought a Jackson Pro Dinky and this cab in just two months without saving for it and both are brand new. What should I buy next? BBE Maximizer? Is that any good? Maybe a wireless? I have no idea.

Meh on saving. I have a nice nestegg I sit on. So I try to put most of my purchases off on money I make extra via paintings I sell or side work.

Over here in Singapore you gotta get married before you can buy an apartment(since almost 90% of the houses are government-built apartments and they want to encourage marriage), the other options are (very expensive) condos or houses. Til then, my mom will never hear of anything bigger than a lame-ass practice amp in the house. Time to propose to the lady so I can get one of them ampegs.

if you get one of those combo amps you can say it's a practice amp. I'm assuming she wouldn't know much better.

also didn't know you had a lady....

Hey, when I play the Vox amplug through a hifi set and practice along to tracks or a click on my laptop it sometimes gets loud enough for her to poke her head into my room and SSSHHHHHHHHHH.

Look on facebook, you silly. Also, cate.

Why... What if you don't even want a woman? Girls are blech!

Seriously, if you want to live celibate you can't buy an apartment?

You can when you are 35, or you can buy a resale one but for an astronomical price. These are for government-built apartments only, but these apartments comprise of nearly 90% of all available homes. So it's that, or fork out more moolah for a condo.

So yeah, the engagement ring is a prerequisite for a half-stack for me :D

After a bit of down time through December and January things have really picked up for my band. We're sending our third record off to be mastered next week, we've got 2 music videos planned out and cast, and we've got 4 different shows booked for the next couple months. First up we're playing an art gallery, next we're doing a collaboration with some Icelandic musicians as part of 'cultural exchange' event, then a CD release show, and finally we're opening for a semi-famous Canadian new wave band from the 80s.

Lots of work to do, we'll be damn busy but I always perform best with a lot of shit on my plate. STOKED.

Same here, I occasionally need the fire under my ass to get down to doing shit. Which is why all my college assignments are completed a couple of hours before submission.

Nah, that was actually a little worse.

--

So a client sent me his guitar tracks to put drums on, and they sound like manic Dream Theater. Lots of crazy odd times and accent spaces and there's one song that's 17 minutes long.

I do like me a good challenge.

Hey, if Mike Portnoy could throw blasting into A Nightmare to Remember, I can throw it into this song myself. It wouldn't fit in any way at all, but fuck it! Blasting all the way!

Just finished auditioning for vocals for a local deathgrind band, Ditheist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4Aw4ZKEQy4

Given that I haven't played with a band for about a year now things went pretty well, and the guys seem impressed. We're meeting again next week to work on lyrics and song layouts since they're finishing an album and planning to play a few shows soon. If they keep me on I'm really looking forward to playing shows again; have been missing that quite a bit since I moved to Chicago.

For my personal synth efforts, I just picked up a Yamaha SY77 (FM workstation.) Frequency Modulation-based synths tend to be good for bell/clangy sounds or slow evolving pads with a lot of harmonic content. Going to use it in my minimal techno/trip-hop/ambient project that I aim to have released by the end of the month/early March.

Just finished a 3 song demo EP yesterday and uploaded it to BandCamp. Posted a thread for it in the promotional forum if anyone cares to listen. It's much different than the things I've posted on here previously. It's a blend of death/black/thrash metal influenced by Morbid Angel, Darkthrone, Destruction, and Poison (Ger).

Sounds pretty good. I enjoyed it. There are a few things that could've made it even better but that's more so from production and what you are actually using for your tone. thumbs up.

Thank you! I have not gotten the chance to order a CD yet but I listened to the Vomitwolves full-length and it did not disappoint.

Thanks! I'm pretty proud of it, and they are going much faster than I thought they would. far quicker than the EP, the ep I'm almost totally out of the run.

Had an absolutely insane weekend doing a couple of shows with the blackthrash band. On Friday we put on a gig in Edinburgh, in a tiny little venue, and we got 75 people paying in. On Saturday we went over to Perth and did another gig (with two of the three other bands we played with in Edinburgh as well as Evil Blood), and got a good amount of people in that as well. We actually paid all the bands, and me and our guitarist got a bit of cash left over for our promoting as well, which was pretty awesome.

So now the blackthrash band has one more practice before our next gig, which is already sold out. 200 capacity venue, so we're going to have a big crowd, despite being on first, as people are travelling from all over Europe for it... Fun times.
