Finished recording drums for a German guy's experimental black metal project Voidcraeft. Did five songs that had lots of different parts in each song. He used a weird microtonal tuning on his guitars for 3 of the songs. Pretty weird and cool black metal I think. Video below. Next is finishing drums for another of Arkhane's songs and finally finishing up two of my own albums.

Cool! I'm pretty sure he only makes his stuff available digitally on his website, though: http://voidcraeft.svart.nu/

About to begin work on a new EP. Thinking of going really death/doom with this one, more similar to bands like Cianide. Also gonna probably throw a cover on there, but I'm not sure I should mention it just yet, maybe it should be a bit of a surprise..

I keep putting off the recording of the next Dalla Nebbia album. I was going to start on Saturday, but I had a broken cymbal, then my computer was being lame.... going to try and put it into gear this weekend: New cymbal, figured out cpu issue, built up my stamina so I can blast at fast speeds for longer periods of time (long blasting sections on the next one.... I think our songwriting was trying to test me  )

I really haven't been all that musically active lately. I don't really have much writing inspiration, and seeing as how I no longer have a chair to practice on, I haven't touched my guitar in a couple months. On the other hand though, I'm fucking stoked for the song CloggedUrethra mentioned. There were some changes he did to a couple sections that I didn't think of during programming, and it sounds killer!

Planning to finish up the bass tracks on Thursday. 5 left to go and I've practiced them to the point of boredom (which I feel is the optimal, hehe) so if nothing goes wrong, I should be able to breeze through them without a hitch.

Also writing some solos. My other guitarist did most of the solos on Great Architect but this time it's all me. No plans for any mad shredding or divebombs, I want to play solos that people can hum along to. Give me Marty Friedman's Thunder March over Michael Angelo Batio's Speed Kills any day.

Tracked four more bass tracks today, left with just one for the cover song and it's on to the solos. Having a tight schedule actually increases my efficiency. Since I don't have many sessions to record with, I have to make each one as productive as possible.

Yup. That's why all my college papers written a day before submission deadline are gold, while those done way in advance are all garbage.

Back with a new drummer (old one has too focus on himself for a while), one guitarist short and we did a gig last Saturday! Overall a great success!
The intro was supposed to show on the black backdrop as well, but the first half wasn't for some reason.

Wow, that Voidcraeft was amazing. Also porman, your drummer sounds tight as fuck!

I have a few songs from The End sessions that I'm going to release on a single either later this year or early 2015. But I want to include something else cool with it, probably a doom metal cover of a non-doom metal song. I'm seriously considering Dax Riggs - Night is the Notion.

Thanks! We had one that was much more technical before him, but several of our friends told us after the show that this type of drumming suits us better. Either way, the shit works and Peter (new drummer) changed stuff to suit him better. You can compare for yourself if you have the time and energy, since we have several live clips on our YouTube channel.

Part of an obscure black metal "collective" (= 5 guys living in the same neighbourhood interested in black metal and occultism, associated in different projects).

We've recently released a split between two of our projects (Morkenatten & De Vermis Mysteriis - Ayin Harsha) ourselves, a tape-version has been released through Cuchulainn.

We're currently investing in better recording equipment (drum mics, etc.), to improve our sound.

Alriiiiight, all bass guitars tracked for upcoming Oshiego release. Also thought of a name for it, which is pretty cool beans.

Oshiego - Pretty Cool Beans :)

Recorded drums for another Arkhane song and I even got to play a blast beat on it! I'm sure he'll post it when he's mixed it all.

Tonight I'm going to test a different drum recording method and then start recording the split with SLK.

Just spent the last 5 hours drumming my ass off for the new Dalla Nebbia songs. Recorded SOOOO many takes of one song, but none of them were as good as I wanted them to be... so trashed them all  . I know there were a couple that could be pasted together, but I want them to be as perfect as humanly possible, especially since we have two fairly "pro" musicians guesting on it >___<

Needless to say, I'll be hurting tomorrow!!! :D

Solid. I'll be ready. I've been testing out my recording duel rigs at once. so I just have to start prepping some material.

Working on that mix right now actually. Just need to find the balance on the snare where I can hear it during the blasting but it's not too loud during the slower grooves.

Re-considering if my material is really progressive metal, or if it's just melodic groove-death or whatever with slightly longer songs than normal.

ever thought about just increasing the sections of blasting opposed to the entire snare track?

worked on mixing the new Flittering album I wrote and drew up 13 paintings to paint. and spent vast amounts of time with all 3 of my cats.

Edit: also forgot I inked in and prepped a t-shirt design for a band in nola that approved it. I finished that so long ago in the AM I forgot till just now.

At least you're mixing snares the right way. I die a little inside whenever people boost the snare until they think "hmm, don't want to make the blast beats sound too metal or anything, better turn them down when they get fast."

No I haven't actually. I'm listening to it over and over and thinking that it's just being pushed behind the vocal layering. I'll just piddle around with vocal panning and see if that solves anything. If not, I'll increase the blasting snare signal.

No problem, just something to keep in mind, cause I usually place the snare track where it sounds great and can be heard and if during the blasting sections it's too overpowering, I'll decrease those sections to maintain clarity.

Just scrapped a bunch of solo ideas in favour of new ones. I'm being particularly strict with myself in terms of quality this time. As sexy as the last album was, I thought the soloing had the most room for improvement and I am definitely gunning for the leads to be markedly better this time. Therefore I'm cramming Malmsteen, Satriani, Friedman, and Racer X ( I much prefer it to PG's solo work) all day long while commuting and then grabbing my guitar and trying to rip out something similar ( I fail of course but that's not the point).

My vocalist has all lyrics done and starts tracking tomorrow, we've settled on a concept and artwork and I should probably start preparing a press kit to send to labels and stuff. I don't mind releasing it with HPGD again but I also want to keep my options open. Hell, HPGD might not like this newer one anyway.

Not much going on, just learning some drum covers. I'm on the road now with nothing but a shitty travel V-drums kit. Working through some Tiamat, Eucharist, Dark Tranquillity and Candlemass songs just for fun.

Awesome. I got the drums recorded for the six songs (about 10 minutes). Will record guitars probably on Thursday and then write some lyrics.
