Were collabs allowed on this competiton? I wan't able to record anything from home, but I have a scratch track I did with my thrash band. Recorded it within the session of this competition thing. It's not the best recording, but hey, I want to submit something haha.

My piece is sort of a small Doom soundtrack, based off of an idea by ChantingOfThePriests a few pages back.

OK, it looks like the samples are going to be a pain in the ass to edit, so now it's apparent that I won't have enough time to complete the song. What I'll do is submit the finished part, which is the intro. If the response is positive, I'll eventually work towards finishing the song with the samples, and probably record it later.

Just a reminder, it's entirely MIDI and unmixed, so you might want to use headphones and lower the volume to 50% or so.

exactly,, then add distortion using AMP vst the final result sucks, but with some humanization it might be somehow acceptable like 30%

ok, I'll try this out! thanks to both of you!

You think that's bad, ever since I've started mine I had no less than 12 freezes. I think my hard drive is starting to fail.

I assume you’re talking about clicking and popping, right? Clipping would be simple to solve, just turn stuff down.

If you are running lots of effects and tracks and your soundcard is cutting in and out, you could get around this problem by bouncing down some tracks. For instance, say you’ve got double tracked guitars with amp simulators and other effects, mix the two tracks, export them as a WAV and then bring that back in as a single unaffected track. Likewise with say, the drums- mix all the individual drum tracks together and reload them as a single track.

Especially if you are using lots of effects, this can be a great method to save some processing power. Just make sure you save a back up version of your project before you do this- you’ll want to have those individual tracks available in case you want to make changes in the future!

actually I've got around 33 tracks in workstation, it's beeping and really penetrating my ears. I'd like to do what you said, but in other hand I have no space on hard disk for backing everything, do you think buying a good sound card would solve this ? or it's related to laptop's processor ?

Hmmm, sorry, I’m not entirely sure what you mean by ‘really penetrating your ears’. Does this problem only occur when you start adding lots of tracks and effects? And then it starts to skip and click and cut out? Cause that problem could be solved by getting a better soundcard/interface. But it could be related to the laptop itself, or even if you’re running low on hard disk space.

That probably doesn’t help much. What I suggested earlier is just a work-around, as far as what is causing the problem specifically I’m not really sure.

I was going to post up the thread tmwr afternoon when I got home from work. So you got some time to get it to me.

I won't have time tmwr morning to load up the songs and i'm heading off for the evening.

So if you can get it to me before I post the thread... no problem.

You can add Overkill666/MercyfulKing to the submitted list, as a collab.

Well, i couldn't get my delay issue fixed, and i had no time to get into my friend's studio, so I've turned up a little submissionless.

Suggestion : why don't everyone sends info about the track he did so that Shaolin can post it in the new thread with songs ? it'll be really cool.

Should we post it here, or send it to SLK in a PM?
