Hey guys, I'm looking to start recording some more stuff for Merkuri, but Audacity is total bull poopy. Can anyone recommend me a good DAW software? I have money to buy one so any price will do. Also, will there be a huge huge difference if I use direct-to-PC recording?

Pro Tools seems to be the industry standard.

I use Cubase.

Reaper: it's free and it doesn't use ridiculous amounts of resources like Cubase does.

You can keep using the trial forever, but it's only $60 to activate it, making it much, much cheaper than other options.

After 30 days you get a notification when you start the program and you have to wait 5 seconds before using it, a low price for what you get in return. You can donate $60 (and get rid of the notification) which is extremely reasonable considering the continuous updates and work put into it.

I like FL studio personally, but I program most of my music to begin with, soooo it really depends on what your going for. I mean, I heard logic was EXTREMELY easy to program/write/record tracks. Reaper I've heard is pretty good. Pick up a copy of Computer Music Magazine and take a look at the dvd, I mean theres all sorts of shit to start from.

I have only used Cubase, and it was ok, but there was terrible delay and wasn't exactly user friendly. Plan on getting Reaper soon!
