I would have to say that they are my favorite guitars and perhaps the only I use! My favorite is the Jackson DXMG

Jackson's are fantastic. I am currently saving for a Jackson USA RR1

I have never played a Jackson that particularly impressed me. Of course, I've never played any real high end models of theirs, but the low and mid range Jacksons tend to feel really cheap in my hands. Comparable ESP guitars are almost always better, plus I HATE when the back of the neck isn't finished like the rest of the guitar, something I've noticed on nearly every Jackson I play.

Proud owner of a 1992 Jackson Fusion Superstrat.

I agree with invoked, unfinished necks bother me, though painted ones also bother me.

I haven't been impressed by any of the low-mid end Jacksons that are in stores, I played a friend's custom shop one and it was a great guitar. The majority of the retail models are set up in ways that don't interest me though, Floyds and locking nuts being the most common. I have liked a few of them, but nothing amazing that got me to buy one.

Ugh, agreed. There was this Jackson 7-string second hand in a store (can't remember the model, and didn't get to play it so I don't know if it was any good, about $400 AUD from memory) and it looked quite decent... Apart from the neck.

EDIT: I meant head.
EDIT 2: Okay, I shall change my tract. I don't mind unfinished necks if done properly (well, they should at least have varnish or whatever) and it suits the guitar, but unfinished heads when the rest of the guitar is done annoy me.

Paint on the neck ruins a guitar. It makes it way too sticky.

Buy lube. I have an SG with a painted neck, and it's fine if you give it a lube job every now and then.

That sounds disgusting!

I find that a better way to remedy the problem is to get some automotive sandpaper, 1500 grit, and sand the back of the neck down to a matte finish... Smooth as hell.

Haha, my immature mind...

I have a Jackson SLSMG. It's pretty good and weighs about as much as a feather.

Unfinished neck = better tone

the more paint on a guitar, the less the wood has the chance to resonate

I have a jackson RR3 and love it to death, exept the position of the neck volume knob, but I've gotten to live with

Would love a R1 but for that much money, i would buy a used engl head instead.

I have Jackson DKMG as my second guitar . I had the trussrod, floyd adjusted, had the PU's replaced with EMG HZ and had it restrung with DR 10-46 Red Devils. Now it sounds very tight and crunchy on the rhythm. Not that good for leads. Before all those modifications it sounded like crap. What I like the most about it is neck - thin and quite narrow with flattened back.

This version of MG Dinky came with Jackson PU's and its body is made of Indian cedro.

I love Jackson guitars. I have a KVX10, an older model made in Japan and without the tremolo bar. The stock pickups were meh but once I put a JB in the bridge it fuckin' sang. Or growled, however you like to term it. Now I'm waiting to put a '59 (or was it a '57) in the neck for a classic sound. I love that guitar. I'd say Jacksons are perfect for any extreme forms of metal such as thrash, death and black.
