Does anyone know exactly what a bass drum Click Pad does?

I saw one in a store the other day, and I bought it.
I still haven't put it on my drum, and I'm wondering if I wasted my money.

If I'm not mistaken, it's supposed to emulate the sound of a triggered kick drum without the loads of expensive equipment. The drummer in my old band got one, and while I didn't think it sounded that great, everyone else was hard-set on it sounding exactly like it was triggered.

Forgive my awful-ness about drums and drumming, but what are "Triggered" drums?

Makes your drum sound like shit.

"CLACK CLACK CLACK"

A well tuned drum with a wood beater will sound INFINITELY better than a metal click pad drum.

Also, people who say using triggers is cheating are full of shit. It's practically the only way to get a good sound during live performances and if you aren't rolling in cash.

I put the pad on my drum,
all it really did was make it sound like the drum skin was a bit loose.

Maybe I should try that Wooden mallet thing.
