I just saw this 60W Roland Cube amp... I've heard good stuff about it... and it has a load of effects into it.

Any thoughts? Is it good for metal?

Well I hate the Micro cube, but I doubt that they sound exactly alike. The footswitch makes it a bit better, but I feel that the distortion channel doesn't have enough gain. From what I've experienced, the more effects a combo amp has, the crappier it sounds.

Try playing it if you can, but I haven't seen it in any of the stores that I go to.

I own the 30W version of the cube and I fucking love it.

i dont care for built in effects as chances are, they're probably shitty. at least get an amp that has a good clean sound and then use whatever pedals to your liking

I've learned by experience that the best types of distortion comes from the amp itself, and a good amp with good distortion will sound better than a less-good amp with pedals.

All power to the Cube, it's an amazing amp. As mentioned it has an ass-load of effects, but I can tell you personally they all sound absolutely freaking amazing through the amp. You'll get more than enough gain out of it for anything you want to do metal wise. As long as you're not using it for a show without it being ran through a PA it's an amazing amp for practice.

100% recommendation here, you cannot buy a better amp at the price that the Cube is at generally unless you're going to buy a halfstack.
