So, above I have a link with one of my songs which I recorded with a low budget (The Mask) and under than that link there is an song recorded probably with professional equipment (Dagon). I would like to ask: Is there any kind of digital plugin that will help me achieve that same depth the instruments have on the 2nd link? Does it have to do with how many channels I have available or what equipment I use? Can you send me an example of a song that has instruments recorded with no Microphones and has that same studio depth Dagon has?

Thank you.

Try to add a bit of reverb onto the guitar and multitracking also helps.

Hmmm so the guitars on the Dagon song have reverb in them? And by multitracking do you mean Quad-tracking my guitars?

The guitars are already double-tracked

It seems to me , there is no panning on the guitar , all in center. Also the dagon song has 2 guitars , 1 bass , and drums , yours just a single guitar and a midi drum. Try to add randomization onto the drum and pan it.Reverb would help even just a little , stereo reverb would be even better. Good luck ! :)

What are you talking about dude? I'm 1000% certain the guitars are double tracked. I mean, I recorded them and there are even extremely minor timing mistakes that justify that.

Def add some reverb, but the main culprit in your mix’s flat sound are the weak-ass drums and bass. You gotta give them more presence, that’s where the real oomph lies!

Here's my uninformed opinion - the rhythm guitar sound isn't that bad. Could do with some reverb, maybe a tiny bit of very short delay to thicken it up, and maybe I wouldn't recommend hard-panning them (maybe around 70%) but that's just because I don't like hard-panning in general.

The mix in general is the issue - needs more filling out with the bass in particular (get some mids in there!), and the drums could do with more presence as well. I think the drums sound a tad too clean, maybe a tiny bit of distortion on those could help.

If, when beefing up the bass, you find that the bass and guitars seem to be fighting over the low frequencies, then roll off the lower frequencies on the guitar.

How do you make the bass stand out if your quad tracked on guitars ?

That sounds like some clever advice. I always had a dilema with hard panning the guitars. Over here where there aren't any vocals I could pan the left guitar on 25 L and the right on 25 R on Ableton. I think I've also come to the conclusion that the reason I don't get much depth is that I don't record the instruments with microphones. Instead I use Bias FX. I also haven't built a studio. I record these on My PC in my bedroom. Also what do you mean distortion on drums?? Like add a VST guitar distortion plugin or is there a specific name for drums distortion? I used EZ Drummer and there are some presets. I don't remember which one I used.... I think it was the Pop preset or Disco preset on the generic drum set.
