Sounds pretty good overall, I think the pace could be slightly faster but that's just my taste. mix sounds good aside from the drums being a little louder than I would like and it might be me but it seemed like on a couple of parts it peaked out.

I am the drummer of Häagenti, we have a full lineup now but this was recorded by our guitarist doing everything (programmed drums). We will be re-recording these songs and a couple new ones for a full-length so I was wondering what anyone thought of the songs.

Not bad, not really a fan of this style of melodic death metal.

I usually don't like symphonic stuff but this isn't half bad. Very well executed.

Your guitar playing is very technical but could be cleaned up a little. Some of your vibrato sounds out of your control, and you could be playing notes to their full duration more often. Still, the speed is there, the composition is there, and it doesn't get dull, just work on execution and smoothness, also bring it up in the mix more.

Your videos are almost always very enjoyable, bro. I really dig the harmonies and the guitar tone here.

And no, I don't consider it spam.

The new deathlord album "Thronelord" finally complete. maybe the vocals need to be pushed a little louder and a little less bass in the mix. But this is everything. Now we need to decide how to release this thing!

Just an update, in case someone is keeping up with the list:

I updated my soundcloud, so anything I linked above may not work.

this is sweet but it sounds mixed way too hot. at least the guitars do they are pretty damn compressed sounding and actually are getting covered by everything else. esp in the blasting sections. Honestly kinda think this would sound better if you went back and at the very least turned everything down 5 notches. Songs are good but really my enjoyment of it is hindered. Also if you push the vocals louder you might as well not have any music. they are plenty fucking loud. They are on the verge of being too loud... are you the vocalist? cause that's a common thing where if you are the vocalist then you don't ever think your vocals are loud enough.

I turned the vol down on dropbox to like a sliver and it sound better at that point but still guitars should be louder. this is pretty much mixed in loudness: drums/vocals (about equal), bass, guitars.

The guitars also sound like they are direct in maybe that's why they sound compressed to me.

The demo of my BDM band. I'd like you to criticize the songwriting, I know that the production is pretty flawed (but definitely listenable). Personally I'd give it about 6.5/10 or so. Though I know what I'd want to change on the next release, and I've gotten better at production, so I think that's okay :p

The vocals seem to lag behind the actual music timewise. And really the first minute was more similar to melodic death metal but with blasting over it all. and it seems to be broken up way too much. first blasting part stop... slam part... pause dumb sounding clean part. back to a melodic part and another slam that's introduced again with stopping. and then again stoped to introduced the next melodic part.

Hell you would go better at just going for a faster melodic/blackened approach and just dropping the slams all together in that first song.

largely was bored with the 2nd song till it reached the riff at 2mins. that was good. then it's back to that stupid stop start riff from the begining and I say riff in the loosest sense of the word. That should've been used as a transition. it's not something should've been played for almost 2 mins throughout the entire song. But overall this song seem to be more brutal death metal. this song should've stopped at 4mins. this breakdown at the end is annoying and pretty dull as fuck.

the name you picked and your logo don't match the music you want to create.

overall sounds like a confusion that you don't know if you want to play melodic black metal, brutal death metal, or deafkore

Thank you very much for taking the time to listen to my music :)
Overall I wanted to create "melodic brutal death metal", as in melodic death metal plus brutal death metal, but as you can see it does need lots of refinement to work, so I still have a long way to go. Deathcore though? I don't find the second song deathcore, if that's what you mean. The chugging riff is pretty fast and has more of a rolling pace than having lots of space in between the chugs like in deathcore. Some death metal bands do use chugging the way I did.
For the next release I kind of want to make the vocals less one dimensional - add a mid ranged growl and more highs to the mix instead of constant static low gurgle. I too noticed that the second song gets boring pretty quick, I want to wrap that up and make it more concise. Also thanks for the idea on the logo, I do like the name and actually think that it does fit, but yeah, upon a longer look the logo would fit a black metal band more than a brutal death one. The logo should be "edgier" haha :p

Or make the melodic elements more prevelant and extreme, keep the logo and just work on your song craft. To me it sorta sounded like deathcore. it's an opinion, but I'm glad you can actually take feedback. there is some shining moments, but there just needs to be some polish and just general work towards that goal. Just keep rolling with it, write and analyze and then keep refining. that's what I did in all my old bands where we wrote stuff and then restructured it to a much better outcome. one in specific we used to sound more like a sludgy metalcore band with a lot of dissonance... we recorded some demos for ourselves and then went back and just worked on making those songs better cutting the fat. basically taking 4-6 min long songs and cutting them to where they were 2min long tech grind/death songs. Worked out far better with much better reactions to them.

half-right, I'm the drummer. < explains the too loud blasts maybe? :P >
maybe my ears are too fatigued to actually mix this thing now, after sitting on it for so long. I'll take your comments into consideration and give it another go! thanks for listening!

That makes sense as well. I used to do the same thing when I started mixing my stuff.... always so drum heavy. I've learned to scale it back further.

Hey man, great to see your album out! I enjoyed the songs, they are some crushing stuff. However, I do agree with ShaolinLambKiller about the mixing. A new mix would be awesome.

okay okay, I'll start the mix from scratch. I guess this project had too much finnicking, has been open too long for me to have a really subjective ear about it.

Any tips to look out for? I won't use the ozone maximizer again I guess :P first time I used this, normally I just master with the waveburner included plugins. The mix itself is just like all my stuff mixed at around -8 dB peak

And thanks for the very nice compliments on the tunes themselves, means a lot to me!

Just to make sure you don't white line the bastard out when you are adjusting shit. Esp if you are going the route of keeping on increasing the vol of everything to hear it better. I like immediately starting in the negative with everything and then increasing the vol from that point.

Pretty terrible. Vocals are not in key to what the song is trying to do. The bass gets off time, the guitars get off time and hit the wrong notes often. Overall a vast lack of care. This isn't metal. at best it's some sort of goth thing closer to Creed... yea that's about it.. a less heavy goth Creed.

first one was nice and all I think would be better if it was speed up a little.

the second one I liked far more with the quad guitar tracks. Very nice and thick and interesting.

Thankyou! The first one is the simplest piece of music I've written as a test for recording. The second is more like what my archives of music are full of, pieces of music with 3-5 guitars, sometimes 6! I'll get to work on uploading more. Thanks again for listening and feedback.

lots of practice. Maybe even take some singing lessons. it sounds like you vaguely understand what you are doing but you don't know how to achieve it.

This is really raw and heavy man. Cool mix of ethereal tones and harshness. Is this a band, or just you?

I put all of my solo thrash songs together into an EP. Tech-y thrash metal. I think they almost might have served better in individual settings or as demos but I wanted to have them all in one place, so please tell me if you like it (or if you don't).

Thank you. That track is just me. A literal bedroom band. 'Adromedean Presence' is great. You have obviously been worshiping devoutly at the altar of the riff. Everything flows very well. I especially like the arpeggiated chords mid-way through the track. I was headbanging involuntary.
The only critcisms I could give you are probably already aware of, guitar tone needs improvement, I suggest going much dirtier. Get a real drummer (though I like the arrangements.) And some vocals would definitely add another dimension to it.
