As in not just drunk, but high on whatever drug too. If it's noticeably written by someone who's not sober but the review itself is good?

I was pretty stoned when I wrote my review for None So Vile and I'm surprised it got accepted.

Sometimes it's noticeable... sometimes it works out pretty well.

It gets accepted if it follows the guidelines. Doesn't matter what condition you are in when you write it.

I wrote my Bloodbound - Unholy Cross review when fairly buzzed; didn't affect the quality at all and I actually wrote it faster. But who knows, it's different for everyone and what really matters is the content. If it sucks, well, it sucks; doesn't matter what your state of being was at the time.

A number of my Machine Head reviews were written after a few bottles of Guinness, and all of them ended up getting 5 points along with the bulk of my other reviews. It's not quite as risky as getting behind the wheel, but I have a feeling that if I have too much beforehand I'll probably end up getting a review rejection notice, so I don't do it often, and even when I do it's not really on purpose, but more just because I felt like having a few.

My Limbonic Art reviews were written while I was smashed. I submitted them and they were posted, but not before being swiftly deleted. I raised my opinion on that, until I read them myself. Sooooooooooooooo many mistakes in it that you couldn't even get through two sentences straight without encountering a handful of errors.

Ended up rewriting the both of them (both accepted now).

Generally I feel I write far better when very drunk or stoned. I make a fair bit of mistakes when I write UTI, but I make heaps of mistakes when sober anyway, so that's neither here nor there. Most of what I'd consider to be my best reviews were written when smashed.

I wrote a review for metal-archives under the influence of being very, very...naked!

Though I haven't done what you guys have.

I'd say that 90% of my reviews were written when drunk.

A fair share of my reviews from 2008/2009 would've been written drunk/hungover. It worked pretty well for me, I think.

Playing computer games and not being sober works pretty well, but as I have to write reviews in English, the outcome would rather be not so good.

Maybe I'll try writing some night when I'm drunk to get me back into reviewing!...

It probably doesn't matter as long as the quality of the review isn't affected.

Gimmicky methods of writing reviews generally won't do a lot to improve overall quality...

Hell, I'd even go so far as to say being stoned could make for more interesting reviews. I usually find better things to do than write reviews when I'm high though. I've probably written a few drunk though.

I've written a good portion of my (unposted) reviews whilst shitfaced...my Coroner one is the only one I was brave enough to post. I'm generally pro, but I always look over it again when sober to make sure it's up to snuff.

If you write a review willingly while inebriated, and it somehow gets accepted, you can feel pretty proud of yourself.

Nearly every college/university student that I know has written at least one paper (if not many) while intoxicated. As long as you can operate your keyboard and form complete sentences, once it is on paper it is often difficult to tell the difference. There are plenty of long-winded reviews or papers that were written while sober and don't draw a conclusion very well. I think most people that write while under the influence have enough experience writing that they can structure sentences and paragraphs reasonably well, and a few drinks can relax you and help you tune out distractions. One of my favorite professors, who had an impressive publication history, said that you do your best writing after a few drinks. You forget things outside of your writing, you don't get caught up on little things like sentence structure and word choice as much.

It's alright I suppose as long as you proofread it while sober. I've done it, and I thought I shouldn't post it before reading it once through while sober, and I found a lot of mistakes. Sometimes, when slightly drunk, your ideas run much faster than your fingers can type, and sometimes your sentences become a mess, and sometimes you get great ideas that you find impossible to fully express in words. Proofreading at least helps clarify the text (ie. make it readable).

Also, I personally lack the patience for something like proofreading when intoxicated.

Edit: Didn't I have over 2000 posts just some time ago? O_o

It depends on everyone I suppose, but I start to write, and like shit. Last time I did this, I just abandoned my review because a good chunk of it was embarrassing and what was salvageable wasn't lot or anything worthwhile.

not that theyre anything special, but all my reviews were written while inebriated (as with most of college papers and most of my movie reviews on here)
if I am not at work and its one of my kiddos mom's day, I am fucked up (though most people cannot tell) sitting at a bar now for 15 mins and Im 3 beers deep

How "not sober" are we talking here? :)

Nobody is as interesting under the influence as they think. This is something metalheads and hipsters alike have in common.

Actually, it's something all people have in common. As long as they have access to booze, they're gonna drink it. And they're gonna think they are superman when they drink it.

And they're soooo not :)

Instead of just resurrecting ancient threads just to give a thumbs up for something random, providing correct sources for interesting quotes (Hemingway) would be a worthwhile contribution.
