When you're reviewing, what are some of your favorite adjectives to use? And what are some of the most exotic/fun adjectives you've ever seen in a review? I'll list off a few of mine:

Crunchy
Terrifying
All-devouring
Monotonous
Hyperbolic
Epic

When I'm writing for Thrash albums, I usually come back to these:

Ballsy
Crushing
Chunky
Punchy

My Power Metal lingo is a little less metal:

Epic
Majestic
Triumphant
Consonant

Abhorrent, abysmal, phlegmatic, asinine, turgid, transcendent... too many good ones.

Rofl, sub awful? Does that mean worse than awful or better than awful?

Worse, I assume.

Anyway, to describe a thrash album, riffy is a very good (pseudo-)word.

"Awesome." :ugh: I'm sorry, I can't help it.

Now, I think we should turn this into a sort of "adjective recs" thread, to help out people like me with a limited vocabularly, post away!

'Fucking,' and variations thereof, seems to be my most used adjective.

Ha, I knew Empyreal wold say monolithic! I'm not quite sure what you mean with it though. Is the music phallic rock or does it have everything integrated in a small song?

Not having reviewed anything for a while I don't really remember. But I do like to include the word 'awkward'. That's a fairly duck-like adjective which should offend any musician happening to read what I write.

I use it as another variant of epic or "big," usually in the manner of riffs or even just heaviness. Like "Isen Torr's 2 song EP contains a monolithic set of riffs to back up Tony Taylor's inimitable wailing." It's just something you know when you hear it; I am sure we all have our own various adjectives for it.

Although certainly it could mean something else too.

Yes, I figured it was something along those lines - due to the context rather than the word itself I suppose.

I prefer gargantuan to monolithic personally... but monolithic is a pretty cool word :D

After submitting my latest one, I realized I use "furious" and "intense" a lot.

"Evil beyond all reason." :D

Deadly, ethereal, soaring. I also thought it was funny when 1349's "Hellfire" was called an abomination.

I remember that when you did that "Pompousness" series you used ass metaphors a disturbing amount.

I tend towards huge, monolithic, massive and the like, I think doom (which for the most part is what I review) lends itself well to those things. I also use epic a lot more then I should.

Epic is an adjective I always use, but that doesn't imply it's a favourite of mine - my favourites would be stuff like repugnant, insidious, iniquitous etc. but I hardly get the chance to use them.

Epic would a good adjective if it weren't so overused. Grand, majestic, and anthemic work well in its place though.
