The Lebanese project Molodost (http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Molodost/3540345531) has just released a new demo, the sound of this 2nd demo (which is made up of a new original song and a cover song) is a neoclassical/black metal one, a bit different from the debut effort.

Here's the demo link: http://www.mediafire.com/?b02zt3hm0n2qe5a

Let me know if you're interested, thank you. :)

We just officially released our EP, Dreams of Dystopia on the 21st. We'd love for anyone to review it. The only reviews on there so far are from a website that absolutely hated it. lol Either way, I'd like to see more reviews on it...

Here's a link to the whole album streaming online (320kbps quality): SoundCloud

And our Metal-Archives page is in my signature. Special thanks to anyone who takes the time to review the EP. We'll post your review on our Facebook page, too!

If you review it and give it a bad rating, be sure the band will badmouth you on their facebook account, they don't take criticism very well.

What is it with some bands becoming whiny bitches whenever they get a bad review? You'd think they'd realize that it comes with the territory that not everyone is gonna be glowing about your stuff.

Not sure if you're giving me a smarmy response or not...

We've gotten a good handful of reviews, and only responded by saying "Look at this seething negative review we got!" I don't think that's badmouthing the reviewer, but are we not allowed to be upset by a bad review?

We've had a couple good reviews and a couple other ones that weren't negative, but offered constructive criticism. If you review us in a fair and professional way, we'll be more than happy to respond in a fair and professional fashion. If you want to be an ass in your review, and say pointless things like "These sullen lovebirds croon their hearts out and sound pathetic", then we might not be so forgiving on OUR facebook page. See how that works? It's a two-way road.

In addition, if you decide to give a smart-ass review, while still offering intelligent criticism, we probably won't have anything to say. The review Metantoine is probably alluding to is ONE review. Not every review we've received.

**Oh, and just in case that specific reviewer reads this, we'd like to say that the review has helped us gain some new fans in spite of all things, so in the long run we're just fine with their review. Ultra-negative reviews are almost better sometimes, as readers of the article will surely be thinking "Man...could this band really be that bad"? Then they take the time to listen to our stuff. If all it does is make more people jump on the bandwagon, that's fine, too. Bad press is better than no press.

GraveWish,

You sir have just given my debut demo a 0% and I have no problem with that! :)

But saying that "I’d like to think that the other reviewers got intimidated by the fact that this band is from Lebanon." is totally misleading and not true.

:nono:

xpsychoblissx, I haven't listened to your band, but I'd suggest you guys grow some thicker skin. I've read the reviews in question and the comment tempest it conjured up on FB and this is ludicrously disproportional. It comes down to the fact that these guys gave you their honest opinions and you didn't like it. Everything else is butthurt whining. Nevermind that they elaborated on why they didn't like it. There are no attacks or unfounded claims in there, more than I can say for some of the band members' FB comments. Seriously, you make it seem as if the authors are guilty of propagating serious libel, whereas they were just putting their (poor) opinion on your music into review form. Granted, the second one doesn't mince words, but if you can't stomach this kind of negative press without starting to yammer on about it at every turn I'd stop releasing music; or at least asking for reviews. Seeing this and now your posts here oozes insecurity on your part.

Good luck with your project and it's nice for you that you received positive reviews too, but getting childishly hung up about negative ones and calling it "verbal abuse" while indulging in some contradictory passive-aggressive aloofness is unprofessional/melodramatic, not to mention plain immature. Be glad people like your music and learn to handle the opinions of those that don't like adults.

Post subject:  Re: Request-a-Review Thread

In my defense, I didn't start anything here on the forums. I simply came on here and requested some more reviews on our EP. Someone else brought it up that we're overly defensive and should expect backlash for a negative review.

"They" (as if we don't all know who I'm talking about by now), however, have made an entire topic dedicated to negative responses to reviews because of what happened after their reviews of our EP. I believe it is them who is insecure. We are not. We will keep making music regardless of what they think. Our EP came out on the 21st and before that even, I've begun writing new material.

They are no better than us. They struck back when we voiced our opinion on the matter, and went as far as posting on our FB page to tell everyone why they think our music is shit. That to me, is unprofessional, far beyond us simply disagreeing that our music is shit.

Sure, maybe we shouldn't respond to negative reviews from now on, but they should also expect bands to not always take negative reviews with stride, especially when some-what personal insults were made. We stand our ground, but we're ready to move past this. We simply would appreciate some new reviews without any previous bias. If you have something negative to say--so be it. The most we can ask for is that you give us something real to improve on.

By the way I didn't listen to your music I've just enjoyed Zodijackyl's review and based on what he wrote I was wondering about the 0 rating, don't get me wrong this has nothing to do with the music itself but with the review.

Post subject:  Re: Request-a-Review Thread

To be perfectly honest I was expecting the review by "they" to be cocky and a personal attack given some of the posts here. What I found about it was that it has a highly constructive criticism while still being able to justify giving it a bad score. If something really is as bad as to deserve such a low rating then I think it's justifiable to present why on the review text, I mean where else would it be exposed? Anyway, I feel like some people just can't properly deal with criticism.

When Portal throws a shit fit on FB about a review everyone else must think it's a cool thing to do.

Answering this in the review discussion thread as to keep this thread to what it's supposed to be for.

Additionally:
I'm not taking any more review requests at the moment, there are a few requests that I listened to a few times and I have been thinking about - Eric Pellegrini and Suffer the Silence will be reviewed, I have listened to both and given them some time, just haven't gotten my thoughts on them together. I have some other stuff I was given to review, once that's done I'll get back to taking requests here. I have always enjoyed hearing some new stuff here but I haven't been focused on it recently.

@Blood Dancer: I will write a review for your debut record if you don't mind. I've listened to your record three times in the last 24 hours and it surely won't be the last time. Your record is amazing! The riffs are amazing, the solos are emotional, the rhythm section is tight and energizing and I especially adore the vocals that sound so fresh and grounded. You really got some talent!

You really want to get around to changing that name. It's just not good.

For something that's merely a sample on a website, you might want to cut ambient intros. You can of course implement them to a great effect on an album, but for sample songs you should probably consider not having them.

A couple of very nice riffs in Sould, the drumming could use a little work (the beats, that is, could be better tailored for the parts). I take it you wanted to try something different and experimental, but choosing a more cohesive approach to song progression would be better.

I would say you have a fairly good grasp of the epic. Just develop the drum parts and songwriting a little. I'm a traditionalist in these things, so if you have a strong vision, just follow that and develop your own style.
