Anyone think Goatwhore should have more reviews on this site? For a relatively popular and well-liked band, they don't really have too many. So I'm requesting people review Goatwhore.

We need more reviews for the brutal death metal band Abuse. They released their only album, Like a Virgin, in 2001. I'll make one myself soon, but I'd still like more than two.

Don't use Spotify, so I'll have to wait until other methods are available.

That "I.F.L.Y." song is catchy enough to interest me. :V

I'd like to see some realistic reviews about Paradise Lost's self titled and In Requiem. Both albums have their moments for sure, but they're really worth all the praise they get.

I asked it again and didn't get a reply; would someone be nice enough to check my flawed review in the review feedback thread? Some help would be nice.

I'd like to see Empyreal review the new Iced Earth. I've agreed with your views of recent Iced Earth completely, but I kinda like this one, so I'm curious as to what you think of it.

Edit: Holy shit, I had not heard of that Lykathea Aflame band or album, but 16 reviews with a 97% average? That might be the highest rating I've ever seen on this site considering the sheer load of reviews.

I still gotta review Powerwolf and Crimson Glory...

That would admittedly be a much better use of your time, especially for the latter band. Hope to read those soon.

The funny thing is, I've been moderately excited about this release for a long time, but I just somehow failed to get it when it was released. I might write a brief review once I actually manage to stop going through Samael discography and get some new music.

I think people are dumbstruck by how simple and straight forward it is. I'm still really enjoying it but I don't feel it pulling a review out of me.

Oh yes it is, have you heard that album?

But I do concur, I'm anxious to see how Empyreal and Caspian justify a score over 30%.

They'll overemphasize its "originality" and "experimental nature," of course.

So what exactly about that album makes you so livid that you have to pop up and bash it every time it's mentioned? I mean I get why people dislike it, hell, even the band anticipated that, but goddamn.

I don't know, really, but personally, if it's anything even close to The View all the way, I can say I find it extremely repulsive.

It's one of the better songs on there, trust me.

@Empyreal - There are two primary things that piss me off about Lulu, the fact that it exists and that it also has Metallica's name on it. Granted, that's the same reason why I would have been doing similar things in 2003 for St. Anger, but proximity of release is the key factor, so in a few months I'll probably get over it. But to be honest, I am still curious to see what you and Caspian will be arguing, not because I'm looking for an argument, but just to see the counterbalance that comes with almost every album on here.

I'm going to do mine over either Thanksgiving or Christmas break, as I will be at home, and that's usually where I do my most sprawling, long-winded works, which this will likely be. Contrary to Zelkiro's thoughts I really just want to talk about the album. It's really not going to have some kind of silly apologetic bent to it.

To be honest, I'd rate it like a 50. It's not very good, but it is nowhere near the shitstorm most of you are making it out to be. Junior Dad is actually pretty enjoyable; Reed's lyrics are really emotional and the musical soundscapes hypnotic and visually powerful. I firmly believe most of you wouldn't be so melodramatic about it if Metallica was not involved in the album at all. And keep in mind I pretty much expected total shit, which Lulu is not, but it is far from enjoyable.

My two cents, anyway.

The biggest flaw with it is that it's inaccessible. The fact that everyone hates it so much is proof of this flaw in and of itself. As a whole it's a very disturbing piece of art, but by itself, and taken into account the fact that it involves a popular metal band, it gets misconstrued relentlessly. You can't ever listen to just one song and get anything from it. And sometimes that's not a big deal, but with this it's a pretty big detractor from the whole. I can't really defend it from that perspective. From that angle I fully understand where the hate comes from.

Some of the reviews thus far have been pretty cringeworthy though, like Khat57's...:ugh:

No I understand what it's about, I just can't sink my teeth into it. And as I said, the melodrama comes from the Metallica stamp.

Oh yes it is, have you heard that album?

No, I've only heard The View. It has one quite good riff, two average ones, shitty solo and too much repetition. That song would get something between 50% and 60% from me. Unless the rest of the album is much lower in quality, I can't imagine it deserving anything much below 30%, although if the entire album is as repetitive as The View, around 30% might be appropriate.

Edit: Now that I'm listening to The View again, Lou Reed really starts to piss me off. Someone who ACTIVELY DESPISES YOU! ACTIVELY DESPISES YOU! Yeah, I heard you the first time. If he actually sang, it would be different I suppose. He walks that awkward line between speaking and singing. Hetfield emits the most awe-inspiring sound I've ever heard to come out of his mouth though (I AAAAAMMM-ah).

I've done this before and swore I wouldn't again because I don't like forcing myself to write, but I'm gonna break my promise. Five times over, in fact. The first five albums I'm requested to review, I will. If I don't manage to do them by the end of the year, PM me your addresses and I'll mail you a prize. Only one per customer.
