This was the first half of a paragraph:

"And describing the sound of this jewel, this is pure Malmsteen and Dio worshipping. Maybe the lyrics go in
a different sense, but the sound is very similar. Also you can find influences from AOR bands like Journey,
post-Dio Rainbow, and even Silver Mountain. So every song in this album is very melodic and full of honey."

VERY MELODIC AND FULL OF HONEY!

"Best Tracks:
1. Time
2. Blood
3. Keep it in the Family
4. In My World
5. Gridlock
6. Intro to Realty
7. Belly of the Beast
8. Got the Time
9. H8 Red
10. One Man Stands
11. Discharge

(I gave the album a 100% for a reason)"

Here's another bad excerpt:

"They do what every true Black Metal enthusiast is supposed to do: Satyr shows the middle finger to everyone, the audience, the labels, the press, each and every potential listener. At first, people didn’t know what to do with the album, they expected yet another audience in a dark, misty and possessed norwegian forest/castle. Instead they got a bizarre, drug-crazed, angst-fucked hellride inside some sinking nuclear submarine 10.000 feet below the arctic ice"

edit: another one!

An excerpt from a particularly bad Cattle Decapitation review:

"To explain my long and convoluted metaphor at the beginning, I'll say that before I listened to this album the world was a happy place with ponies and fairies and shit all around me, but then as I turned around to encounter it and it slapped me in the face with gore and growls and riffs so heavy I had to sit down, as I was far too taken aback with what I was listening to (or in the case of the metaphor, saw). The vocals are so brutal, I had never heard anyone go that low before, and the higher pitched ones don't ruin a thing and actually fit very well with the music. The guitars and drums speak for themselves: flawless performances all around by everyone involved."

Blind Guardian review.

"The greatest power metal band, dose it again. It was great. Good. Strong. Beautiful. They never fail. Of corse it never stays the same. But. At the Edge of Time is brillant. I can never say the old stuff is better(mostly is) but better is not the right word this band. Things just change. Same beautiful nerd glory metal with the melodies to make you cry. In LA, CA 2010. I attended the show there for the tour for this album. Hansi's voice has become more strom. The riffs are and always have been amazing. You dont always need to sweep and sweet pick to make a riff amazing. Before this album is over. Youll find yourself hunting for thier entire collection.
Youll find yourself wanting to play DnD in cosPlay
The opra chants and the heavy metal roar is something i hope BG never quits on. So. For first timers... i do not reccommend this album. Somewhere far beyond is a great start.
If your the metal fanatic. Go for it. Nice. Flowy and refreshing."

It's called LARPing.

Amazing musicians, Amazing speed.
The bassist just recovered from a stroke, and is getting back into it hard.
That is some dedication.

It's what you do before that last sentence of this review.

Oh boy, another one! It shows some effort despite poor English and punctuation, but uh, the guy is from Malaysia and happens to know that a Brazilian band recorded their vocals... in a bathroom?

The superb debut album from this Brazilian duo makes it's intention known right from the first track Anunciação which is a spoken word welcoming the unsuspecting listener to the mayhem that will barrage your ear canals for the next 25 minutes..
The title track Inverted Blood showcases the bands style of music for the whole album the vocals style are a mix of the re verb laced style of Possessed and early Sepultura in Morbid Visions, while the guitar riffs here is a combination of Merciless The Awakening, Impaled Nazarene's Ugra Karma blended with t Darkthrone's lo-fi classic Transilvanian Hunger. For an album that was written in guerrilla style ( the vocals were recorded in a bathroom, the drums were loaned from a friend, no bass tracks were recorded and etc.., the production is perfect for the bass drum resonates like a pounding heart beat propelling the song like blood bursting through your veins. The ex guitarist of sarcofago Fábio Jhasko plays 3 leads on this album. The longest song Elytron (Succubus) clocks in at 4.17 and is one of the highlights of this album, the melody will haunt you long after you've finished listening to it. This album is perfect for those who are bored of long, lengthy and intricate riffs, pummeling double bass drums and multiple rolls. It charges like a mad bull without the bullshit.Fast, catch and precise it makes you hunger for more..

Quote:
I like black metal: that crazy, demonic rebellion against everything in existence. Black metal is to me, one of the more eccentric subgenres of heavy metal. If I could use a metaphor, thrash metal would be a high street retail shop, death metal would be a custom, edgy label, and black metal would be a couture brand. It is almost fashionably eccentric. I realize now that this statement could get me murdered but what the hell. I also like death metal. The fact that I can compare them to custom fashion labels is really a mark of the genre’s attention to technique and detail that I love so much.

Once in a while, a reviewer stumbles across bands like Necrowretch, who personally identify as death metal but sound more like black metal, and could in actuality be both. That’s hardly a problem though; it’s just getting the best of both worlds. It’s getting a couture label that puts out fashion shows with custom made everything's from curtains to plastic chairs with fake blood smothered on the model’s faces. It’s very interesting, but there’s a lot to live up to. Necrowretch's new album "Putrid Death Sorcery" is an incarnation of its name. It has its death metal elements, but it also sears with a “magic” or “sorcery” if you will, that just leads back to the essence of Black Metal.

This is evident in several characteristics, from vocalist Vlad’s higher pitched vocals and one-off growls, and also in the general more atmosphere-focused instrumentals. The production also seemed very black metal to me, with the usual thickness and crunchiness of death metal absent, replaced instead by an almost wistful base sound with seemingly twang guitars. “Goat-Headed”, “Putrid Death Sorcery”, and “The Antrhopomancer” were standout tracks for me, with breakneck speeds, interesting harmonies, and great solos appearing in the last two tracks, all with significantly death metal-esque bridges with insane riffing and madness on the drums.

It makes me happy when musicians go loony. It shows that they suffer for their art. Anyway, back to the point I’ve been trying to make: Is Necrowretch going through an identity crisis? And even if they are, is it necessarily a bad thing? Kierkegaard would be proud of me for being such an annoyingly inquisitive twat, asking questions when I already know the answer. Well, I take my philosophy just as seriously as Necrowretch takes their music. I also like making leading statements such as the sentence before this, proving only that heavy metal music serves as a great mental stimulant, contrary to popular opinion.

Listening through the entire album until the very end, I realized what an ass I was for trying to label the band as death/black metal. Sometimes they are death, sometimes they are black (much like Eminem), but who cares? It’s good music! I liked how evil yet poised and professional they seemed through their music, their personality running through every fiber, drawing out the best in both genres and combining it masterfully in an album that can categorically be best described as “music”. Not “black metal” or “death metal”, or “black/death metal”, just music. Yeah, that’s my expert opinion.

It’s not to say that the album was flawless. I mean, the only reason there are so many reviewers still working today is because none of them have found the perfect record yet. If they did, they would stop working and become a hobo for eternity, with nothing but an MP3 player full of the music from the “perfect record” to sustain them the rest of their lives. I know of no such reviewer or record.

That being said, the flaws of the album are not many and are mild in nature. Through their work in the album, the band gave me the impression that they were hell of musicians, so I was expecting them to surprise me at some point with some out-of-place genius ballad or perhaps some far-out technical chizz but they didn’t. I guess you could say they kept it simple, which was just a slight disappointment despite the fact that they seemed to me like one of those bands that would blow your mind with their godlike musical prowess at least once in the album.

All in all, it’s a great record. Not exactly death or black metal, so if you’re one of those people who listen strictly to one sub-genre *ahem-weirdo* this isn’t for you. But if you like all heavy metal music, and enjoy the thought of a band coming up with good shit instead of just marketable shit, then this album is for you.

My head hurts.

"The only song I'm going to talk about is "Fade To Black" because of how fucking lame and overrated it is. It's a radio friendly song that will attract outsiders that will ruin a band's reputation and increase the possibility of selling out. People bitch about how thrash needs to be heavy, yet when Metallica has a song like this, it seems like everyone fucking loves it! People also claim that Metallica lost their touch during "...And Justice For All" (can't blame anyone for that, cause "One" sucks balls), "Metallica" and surprisingly "Master Of Puppets" but songs like "Fade To Black" and "One" will ruin a band's reputation! Another reason why I hate this song is because of my friend. He plays it on guitar during guitar class all the fucking time, along with Dethklok and Pantera songs, and it's very aggravating."

From Satanism to Illuminati, side to side! Love how he bypassed a decade's worth of albums about alien abductions and what have you. You'd think that if lyrics are all you were going to talk about in a Hypocrisy review the aliens thing might be worth mentioning.

This music is too hard to review, I'm going to ponder the meaning of life instead.

"Inexistenz is a Slovenian one man project playing straight Depressive Black Metal without modern or superficial influences.

“Erfundene Welten”, the second full-length album has a raw and cold touch, but in the meantime it is very melancholic and dark. The composition has a “classical” depressive black metal with drums and a rhythm guitar ranging from slow – mid pace (mostly) to fast tunes. The vocals are typical for this genre, not as is common, but just balanced high pitched depressive black metal screams.

It is kind of hard for me to explain in words how a good depressive black metal sounds like, but if this 6 track album would have a “story”, maybe it would be something like this …

There are some dilemmas that still define our existence, from quite ordinary daily basis questions to existential – philosophical ones. Probably the best known / popular in our days is a small passage from Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” - “To be, or not to be: that is the question”.

But what are we exactly? What are we looking for? What do we want ? Is there a correct answer to any of these questions, is there a “standard” for all of us? Many of us don’t ask this kind of questions because “ignorance is bliss” and this is how all of those “sand castles” of fake fulfillment appear around us only to crumble at the first cruel hit of reality.

There is no understanding, there are no content moments and there is no absolute freedom. There is no life, only complete darkness and emptiness. We’re just pale illusions of what we were, lurking in a grey and oppressed world, lost between our own ruins, never being able to find our place again, decomposing and forever forgotten. We are our most feared enemy, our worst nightmare and cast our own sentence to complete silence and loneliness and no matter how hard we try, in the end there is only nothingness.

… and this his how “Erfundene Welten” sounds like. It is a little gem in a treasure box that, in recent time, didn’t surprise me with any truly good Depressive Black Metal. Great production, great composition and, as a bonus, 36 free minutes of therapy trough nihilism and depression.

I recommend you all check-out this album, nice release from Inexistenz and Naturmacht Productions.

But what band was found under black metal? Fucking Underoath.
