I have often thought wildly varying reviews of the same album could be evened out by trimming the best and worst. Many times I see bands receiving 70,80,90's and then someone comes along and gives them 15. Clearly they don't like the genre so why review it at all ? It's like me reviewing phil collins or kylie minogglue, I just wouldn't do it. Similarly 100% is rarely warranted so weeding out the top and bottom might lead to a more balanced average. Yes I can see the problem, most albums get only 1 or 2 reviews, but this system could kick in for those that get 5 or more.

This has to be at least the 8th time this has been suggested.

1) take the time to read the reviews, that's not difficult especially if there's like 2 or 3.
2) We value the writing more than the scores.
3) Like all the other people who made similar threads, you're probably butthurt because one of your favorite bands has bad averages on the site.
4) We're not a social networking website and we have no intention of becoming one besides this forum, of course.

can you review phil collins or kylie minogue, just to prove your point? "but seriously" or "body language", preferably...

Well that certainly told me. Sorry for being so irritating, making you people read the same thing for the ninth time. Or is it the tenth now ?

Or you could read Metantoine's post, which was an actual answer.

An important assertion has not been responded to. The idea that only someone who disliked the entire genre a band belongs to would give a low score to a band from that genre is false. Fans of a genre will often negatively review bands that play that genre if they feel that band is doing a poor job. This happens sometimes even when other fans of the genre think the band is doing a good job. I hope this clears up your misconceptions about how people score things.
