Greetings! I've been seeing quite a few threads dedicated to either questions over pressings or verifying CD matrix codes/identifying bootlegs of all physical formats. These kinds of threads have been coming up regularly for a while now, and made me think: I myself have a number of items in my collection the legitimacy of which I am uncertain of, and the only thing that put me off from asking the forum for advice when Discogs wouldn't help is that it would be a nuisance if we all started doing the same every time we grew the least bit suspicious of fraud. So, what if a subforum or sticky thread existed for this purpose?

I'm not saying that we should be lazy and not research it ourselves, but most of the times others know better. This IS a metal forum after all.

Good idea, but I think it could be a sticky in the metal discussion instead, still no one will read it

Well, it's true that it would be far more difficult to get help on a specific release if you post it in a general sticky thread than you would if you created a more attention-grabbing thread of its own, which is why I thought a subforum could help (though that IS a bit too much). I don't know, it just seems like a better idea than posting a new topic every time for very specific inquiries...

A subforum would awesome. I used to run a blog called "Disc Drive Damnation" with matrix code info. I'm still getting mails related to it on a weekly basis.

I'm very much for this too, would be a good place to get a definitive list of bootleg titles that are out there to (hopefully) go some way to putting bootleggers out of business
