viewtopic.php?f=3&t=92197

I thought that when mods lock a topic, it's because a discussion is over and they don't want any more people posting in the topics, but in the 'locked' topic I've linked above there are mods posting in there anyway! There have actually been quite a few other recent cases of that. What's the big idea behind it? To me, it doesn't seem very very necessary to post in a finished discussion. Just, what's the whole purpose?

Thanks

No .. just belief. Sincere, unshakable belief that the g(m)ods are always with us, always watching. And that with their esoteric powers, parties can still be thrown upon the graves of fallen threads. Behold their glory. Believe.

Was it locked when I posted? If so I didn't realize it, although I did have something to say. Why are you starting trouble here?

Because the mods like to abuse their power so they feel better about themselves.

That thread was locked at the time when Nightgaunt was the only mod who posted in it. In that case, it was probably not locked as a sign to cease discussion immediately, but rather to keep Wilford Brimley and other regular users from chiming in on it. There are several other obvious reasons why allowing mods to post in locked threads is a good idea, one being that if a thread has been locked with little explanation as to why, another mod can post an addendum elaborating upon the decsion. It's really not that hard to get.

Yeah, the topic was locked, I guess half the time it's because they don't realize the topic's locked, but yeah as MalignantThrone said sometimes they do have other good reasons to post in locked at times. Still I'm wondering why it's only been happening recently... Just a question, thanks for the replies everyone!

Me and Wilford had a bit of a discussion about his issues via PM too

:durr:

Moderators can post in locked topics whereas normal users cannot. Not only that, but mods probably don't even notice the topic is locked, because the "post reply" button still works (the icon says "locked" but it's positioned right at the same place as the "post reply" icon normally would be and it's very easy to not notice the icon is very slightly different). So they click that button and write their reply, not realizing it's locked. Or maybe they do realize it and don't care, because they can, and they're still entitled to do that, but the former explanation is much more likely. But don't let that stop you fools from assuming bad faith on their parts, I mean where's the fun in that, eh?

This thread is the epitome of useless whining that contribute nothing but pointless drama. Shame on you, OP, you really ought to know better.

Totally. Each time I lock a topic, my body is shaking with joy and sexual tension.

Congrats on your website by the way, it's great!
