I performed a Search after 'active' bands from Romania, and I am pretty sure at least 30% of these bands no longer exist. But I see there is no way to edit the status of a band.

What is the process of bands being tagged as inactive?

The editing of a bands status requires a higher rank, if you see a band wrongly stated as active, please file a report with some proof that the band is indeed inactive.

i.e. click "report an error" on the band page.

Also, just because a band hasn't been heard from in a few years doesn't mean they have indisputably "split-up". It would be more conducive to site accuracy to mark them as "Unknown." I only say this because you mention that you are "pretty sure" said bands no longer exist.
