Should in case of a translation also the typical phrase be placed:

Do not confuse with the band YYY from ###?

New feature:
*Country "International" is now available.

Enhancements / Improvements:
*If a band has more than twenty entries in their similar votes section, you can choose to view all entries with at least five votes. If you click on the edit button, you can see all entries with at least one vote.
*The date of the accepted review is now fixed. Reviews now have a separate "last updated" date stamp, so that edited reviews won't appear as new reviews.

Feedback needed:
We'll disable line-ups for compilations, allowing only Misc. Staff to be added. We're thinking about doing the same with boxed sets. What do you think?

Coming change:
Slashes to separate instruments will be removed in favor of commas.

I do not like how the line-up, add notes and shit is handled... too much clicking and too intransparent. I will post a suggestion later.

It's probably already a known bug, but:

http://www.metal-archives.com/artists/D ... llo/234628

Apparently not adding the year to the DOB field results in some weird numbers.

Did you just add a month without a day OR a year? That's kinda useless... I didn't think it was even allowed though so that might be the actual bug.

I didn't add it, another user reported it. I've seen it before and it also has the same effect when one adds a month and a day, but no year.

EDIT: Another bug:

http://www.metal-archives.com/report/vi ... 8/show/all

This report by OneRodeToAsaBay is fucking up the main report screen:
http://www.metal-archives.com/report/list
It has no name, report type, or date... :ugh:

Would it be possible to create a list with artists whose country is not added on their profiles? From April 9th to April 13 th (approx) many members entered were without country and everyday I find new ones but there are plenty left... it would make the work easier

Enhancement:
You can now specify alternative link text when using the link syntax for bands/artists/labels, similar to how it works on Wikipedia. For example, using the syntax {band 379} creates a link with the text "Manilla Road" leading to that band as usual, but you can now use {band 379|great band} to create a link with the text "great band" instead of the band name (just an example, don't start entering non-neutral notes ;)).

Note: the "insert band link" button now uses the {band ID#} syntax instead of just {ID#} as before, but {ID#} will still work for bands.

I would love to see to an additional search field in the advanced search under the album tab for state/city/province that way I can search specific areas in otherwise massive countries such as Norway or the USA. I can't search for 2011 albums by bands in NJ or 1992 Black Metal albums by bands from Bergen Norway. It would make advanced searching albums much more worthwhile.

Requested.

But why?
Well, I think I can understand the reasoning behind that (widespread misuse), but we'll lose a nice feature in the process: the ability of seeing the instruments timelines in a single sentence.

Here's an example:
John - Vocals / Guitars (1998) / Keyboards, Bass (1999-?)
will become
John - Vocals, Guitars (1998), Keyboards, Bass (1999-?)

Now when did John sing on this band? Was it in 1998? Or is it not known? Same aplies for keyboards.

This is not very good, because there exists some compilations, that are re-recorded stuff or unreleased material, such as:
Helloween - Unarmed - totally re-recorded stuff with new Line-Up, but NOT a Full-Length album.
Virgin Steele - The Book of Burning - partially re-recorded stuff with many never released before tracks with new Line-Up - but NOT a Full-Length album.
Running Wild - The First Years of Piracy - totally re-recorded stuff with new Line-Up, but NOT a Full-Length album.

For such compilations / albums we just must enter Line-Up, but for simple "Best of" stuff, like this & this this is don't needed.

Boxed Sets - there must be no line-ups.

legacy4, я полностью согласен. I completely agree.
"Compilation" includes not only "best of" some band taken from its other releases.
It can contain a variety of types of tracks, such as unreleased, rarities, remixes, acoustic, instrumental version, game/movie soundtracks, cover version, some new (promo) songs, etc. Such tracks might be recorded by current line-up of that moment. Either such tracks might be present in these compilations only. For example:
Helloween - Metal Jukebox
This is a collection of cover versions, and these tracks are not presented in other releases of the band.

There could be a checkbox for veterans to enable line-ups for compilations.

But currently such option not available. I Hope it will be in the future. Also just one of variants to resolve a question: a new Release Type for compilations of re-recordings, unreleased tracks, re-mixes, etc: special compilation, and for simple "Best of" compilations - "best of" or just as now - "compilation".

I think that the behavior should be like this:
1) Slashes separate instruments that were played during different time periods (or during unknown periods)
2) Commas if the guy sung and played the guitar from 2000 till 2005, for example
3) Instruments should be entered separately and the preceding behavior should be somehow automatically mapped

For example:
John Doe played bass (2000-2005) and then gutiars and vocals (2005-2011)

So the users enters
JOHN DOE
- BASS 2000-2005
- GUITARS 2005-2011
- VOCALS 2005-2011

and the system magically transforms that to
John Doe ------ Bass (2000-2005) / Guitars, Vocals (2005-2011)

Anyone likey?

Your point is valid, but those examples you gave should be considered regular full-lengths. A new recording is a new release. Most bands re-record their demo songs for the debut, yet that fact doesn't turn the album into a compilation.

Past members
Quote:
T・Y - vocals

Are we supposed to add T・E and & T・Y in this way of spelling or as T. E. and T. Y. respectively?

Will there be an ability to search for lengths of songs when using the Advanced Search feature? I'd be really excited to see something like that. :D

When merging duplicate artists, why is it that the artist with the higher (newer) ID survives the merge while the older one gets nuked? <_< Is this a conscious decision by the admins as to which one to kill off, or does the site's code automatically use the newer entry?

Because logically, the entry with the lower/older ID should be the one surviving the merge... otherwise, there's greater risk of breaking artist links (in additional notes and biographies elsewhere).
