So there's something that's been bothering me for a while. The band Judgement Day has been here forever and has been consistently updated over the years, but I'm not sure they can really be called metal.

Don't get me wrong, I love them and they may call themselves metal, but I'd say that less than half their material really qualifies. They use no guitars at all, which I know has kept bands out in the past, and for every song like Barrage or Cobra Strike, there's one like Peacocks/Pink Monsters or Mark of Vishnu.

It seems like they'd be a borderline case at best, even if they were a part of the metal scene, but they've been touring with bands like Dredg and Pinback. Again, I love the band, but I don't really see them fitting in on the Archives.

More of an observation than a complaint, but I attempted to add The Midnight Ghost Train onto the Archives last week and they were rejected for being stoner rock only to be added on a couple days later by a different user. I'm guessing it was due to them being added by a user with more history adding bands or me mislabeling the genre, but I'd still like to know what gives.

Me and Azmodes decided that they were more rock than metal and then rejected the band, but another mod added the band himself... Sorry, for the confusion, I guess I'll talk with the staff and all.

Yeah, I was the one who finally ended up rejecting it in agreement with the other mods who commented on the band finding it to be unacceptable. The mod who submitted it should not have submitted it, and we will look into a review of the band.

Just in case anybody's wondering about the three death metal bands added today, HellBlazer's graciously agreed to increase the maximum number of bands per split to 6. ;)

I was looking over this band again and apparently I was confused when I submitted it. I thought it only had 2 ambient songs, but it is 5/9 ambient/folk, 4/9 metal. Sorry about this:

Incidentally, that makes Crushing the Holy Trinity a legit release. In think it's time for a merge soon.

These two should get deleted:
http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Marcynaton/46952
http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Narbe/46655

according to his myspace he mixed instrumental samples from different bands with his own vocals and sound-effects.

Anybody want to hear mighty Centaurus? Here's full album, just use the common sense and think: is it metal?

2. The Lynch Way
3. The Rocker
4. On the Sands
5. If I Build My World for You
6. You Shake Me
7. To the Wireless
8. The Maiden Song
9. Cold Emotion

Inopexia:
http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Inopexia/3540325718

Riffless, noisy goregrind in the vein of Last Days of Humanity's Putrefaction in Progress. Certainly no "brutal death metal" here.

I'll admit this is more Al's territory, but what little goregrind I am familiar with is that Last Days of Humanity album you mentioned, which this does sound almost exactly like. Unless a mod has a strong objection I am 100% in favor of eliminating this band, I hear almost no metal whatsoever.

I was surprised too when I'd seen Inopexia here, they are pretty grindcore, and I've seen 'em live at least twice, they're acting like grindcore joke band :)

Downloading their entire discography now. If I hear not one release that sounds riffy, it's toast.

(Fuck, I love my job)

EDIT: ... yep, aaaaaand as much as I love what I'm hearing (especially them snares ), I concur. There's not a single riff to be heard anywhere in these recordings. Deleted and blacklisted.

Great stuff, though! :D Makes me wonder why I haven't heard about these guys sooner. :)

http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Karn_Kluay/125828

I came across these guys by rechecking old posts in the broken encoding/trransliterated titles thread. And I can find abosolutely nothing on this band. Aside from our site, an empty shell at The Gauntlet, and a few sites that copy or mirror us, the only proof this band is even real is an out-of-stock listing for their third album from a distro called Triple Six Thailand (http://www.triplesixthailand.com/Online ... gory_id=51) I can find no samples, and no website or social media profile.

Now, their listed label, Banana, does not have a Karn Kluay, although they have a group named กล้วยไทย whose English name is listed as Kluaythai (http://www.bananarecord.net/kluaythai/). But they are listed as a purely a rock n roll outfit (I believe the Google translation mentioned something about nu metal), and not metal. Are there any submission notes for the band (not sure those were a thing before v2), or is it possible for a mod to message the submitting user (dust666) to find out where he got his info for the submission (which includes a second album I cannot find online, and a 5-piece line-up)?

EDIT: I do admit that the covers of the two albums we have on the site do list a non-English (most likely Thai) name for the band, which may be a hurdle in finding some examples.

I know absolutely nothing about Thai bands or the Thai language, but I found this online (by googling band members' names and tracktitles in Thai): http://www.myspace.com/kaankluay. And this: http://www.pmdplus.com/eng/album_detail.php?aid=444, and this: http://www1.you2play.com/shop/product/detail/2788/. Note that their name is spelled Kaan Kluay on Myspace, and Kan Kluay on pdm.plus.com. On the third site their name is given in Thai; ก้านกล้วย.

Today I've got interesting e-mail about the band Weed. Their only release is Demo 2003 and it has the same tracklist as album by Ken Hensley Weed, released in 1971. I think there must be a proof for Demo 2003: was it released, maybe the band was accepted by mistake.

Weird. The demo was added one year after the band by another user, so the question arises what their discography had been before that. Plus, genre "Melodic Metal" :/ and no samples to listen to. Their website is still up, but doesn't say much, only that they had a demo finished in 2005. I'll look into this, but I think we have a nuking candidate here.

I'm going through all bands tagged as "thrashcore" and adjust the genre where I can (the term has so many potential misuses).
Deletions so far:
Cabra from Argentina - mildly thrashy jumpdafuckup-style hardcore
Djeena's Circus from France - experimental/-core

Just came across the band Jehangir Aziz Hayat while adding links and Last.fm tags says "rock" and "grunge". That confused me and I post here an album trailer (the band have only one full-length) - and seems it's really not "Heavy Metal" as the band page states but you know it better.

So just an expansion on the Judgement Day case: their youtube channel has a number of music videos for a good amount of their material. The "acoustic direction" mentioned in the description of the video for Forest Battle (the video directly on their channel page) really just means they dropped the distortion pedals and other effects from the cello and violin; compositionally, there's not much difference (as you can hear from the Pink Monsters/Peacocks videos).

Again, I love the band, but by the site's own precedents, they probably shouldn't be here. At least Botanist is decidedly a part of the metal scene and associates with other metal bands...

They are existing, here's some CD photos and interview in Thai. All internet sources listed 'em as metal and their albums as metal releases.

Was Gnaw accepted as a side-project because Khanate was still active at the time? Because while it is listed as "industrial/doom metal" on the site, I do not hear any metal whatsoever in their sound, especially not doom metal. It's industrial with guitars providing one of the layers of noise, no metal riffs. Here are the first three tracks off the album, the rest is in the same vein:

First track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbRhYaOCxPo
Second track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OK-9Pi1cam0
Third track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mq_gfb2OAY

-edit- Just listening to it again. There's actually even less metal in the later tracks than in the first three.

Example - track eight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2E6k01XZyzM

Looks like it falls under the side project rule. The genre is indeed debatable.

Yeah, thought it may qualify as a side-project. I'd change their genre simply to "industrial" for the reasons I mentioned above.

Nuked Botanist after it was brought to my attention. Nowhere close to metal at all (there aren't even guitars, let alone metal riffs).

Mallcore/nu-metal. It's sort of like Hatebreed but with more chugging and the shouting is a bit more like rapping.

They were approved in 2007, so based on this album:
http://www.myspace.com/clipundergroundc ... p-16749988

Their 2009 album is a bit more hardcore/metalcore, but still much closer to mallcore. That's also on their MySpace page.
