Deleted Totennacht. It's darkwave/gothic rock and why it was added as "Death/Doom/Gothic Metal" (by a then-moderator, no less) is simply beyond me. :|

Probably not exactly ontopic, kill me for it:

http://www.metal-archives.com/artists/B ... gref/13828

First things first, I'm happy that the useless fat fuck is dead, his parents should have killed him after his birth, drowning him in his own faeces, the (probably) 50 pound baby he was.

Is it really worth mentioning him as a livemusician for Alestorm because he apparently once entered drunk the stage at 70,000 Tons of Metal Cruise?

Deleted DeVore. Some serious concerns regarding validity of music as well as release there, suffice to say.

Also Athene Noctua. Prematurely approved based on shady evidence.

There is no rip for the demo online but a few of this guy's projects are like this, just keyboards and drums. All but one of Corneus's releases are not metal and a few of Grausamkeit's are as well.

Which leads me to these:
http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Jew ... 3540354569
http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Doh ... 3540339776
http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Kam ... 3540339772

The source I used to submit these listed the Wings of Evil split as black metal. I assumed the source was trustworthy since it was a reputable label/distro back then. I would delete these since there is really no proof they are actually black metal and the fact that a lot of this guy's work is keyboards and drums.

All of the above nuked. About Corneus, you say only one album is metal, so their current genre tag should probably be modified. Same for Grausamkeit?

Restored Jew Atomizer, besides being very awful (and being NS bullshit) their part of the split with Kampfkoloss is predominantly metal.

Deleted, with agreement from Derigin:

Miss Crazy (USA) - hard rock/nu-glam
Blackstar Halo (Finland) - more mallcore than melodic groove metal

EDIT: And Squadron from Woburn, Massachusetts. Hard rock.

Deleted Caradhras (the solo-project from Veneto). No conclusive proof of PR/distribution/metalness, all around very fishy.

I have also removed everything related to this user's "label" - "Earth and Sky Productions" - as they appear to be nonexistent or entirely unaffiliated with this label.

As far as I know, this is just metal covers of Christmas carols. Is someone aware of original material by them?

and old Derigin quote from 2012 wrote:
We ended up discussing that submission in chat, and came to the conclusion that works that derive their songs from traditional folk songs are not so dissimilar from those that derive their works from classical music, christmas carols, and the same ilk. Based on that, in principle (and certainly not always the case) a "cover" - for the purposes of this site - could be defined as a piece of work covering a contemporary, copyrighted work.

I'm guessing it was added based on Putrilogie. That is like the only album where you can hear the guitars. But this shit is sooooooo bad that I don't want to delve into the album to see if it is majority guitars or electronic stuff

But yeah, "Electronic Influences" be damned, that is like half of the music.

Whew...talking about a band that squeezed by to get added here. Damn, that was painful.

I'll lead this to Doomsday, who accepted the band and Alhandis, who could probably tolerate this the most.

What about this album? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9r40P4TE2Aw

I'm a bit biased as their submitter, I guess, but Mulk sounds like brutal death metal to me - admittedly very noisy, but the guitars are audible and the song structures obviously lean it more towards death metal in the vein of Putridity or Enmity than anything else. The electronic influences are similar to Whourkr's in that they mostly manifest in sporadic digital chopping or beats; there are still plenty of riffs in there, I'd think.

Okay, I just finished listening to Putrilogie, Mulk's side of the Cyber Vermin split, and their newest release, Testo(y)sterie or however it's spelt. While this noise actually isn't too bad, I'm afraid it's better described as glitch/breakcore with BDM influences, rather than the other way around.

Sorry dude, I can hear what you think you're hearing, but the guitars are chopped to shit and used as source material in what're essentially breakcore compositions. Any further allusions to BDM can really be attributed to the prominent vocals and spastic drum programming (which, as we all know, aren't how the site governs "metalness". :p Guitar riffs are what define metalness).

Deleted and sent back to /mu/ in a carton.

*sheds single digitally-chopped tear* - wait, /mu/? what? oh never mind...

Here, while I'm getting all my skeletons out of the closet, do you guys wanna check out this Shadow of the Colossus band? I think they sound metal enough, if barely, but I've been thinking about them for over a year now. Considering the mod team's position on deathcore, this may be considered to be something that slipped through in error.

https://shadowofthecolossus.bandcamp.co ... e-colossus

They have a second album but it's even less metal than this one, so this should be the determiner.

Kara Darahu nuked. Talked to the band, they have no official physical release, but a couple test copies of their single not for sale.

To be fair, the demo is metal, not borderline. Still, it's one short tape among a huge discography of ambient and as Alhadis said, DIR apparently destroyed all remaining copies (who knows how many were sold in the first place). Not a good "anchor" for a band here.

Another worthy candidate perhaps: The Whores of Babylon

Goth rock:

A heavier song:

Instrumental stuff:

Anyone?
PS. I do have a copy of Metropolis, but then it's quite unfeasible to dig it up. Wouldn't mind rummaging if there were no other way.

For a moment there I read that as Babylon Whores. :grr: ;)

Yeah, doesn't sound like metal at all. I found some albums on my own, will check back.

Oh jolly, and it's another Stormrider addition.

Just noticed that Stille Volk is on the archives. I've always enjoyed the band just as much as I've enjoyed the rest of the Holy Rec roster; however, I've never expected to see the band on here. Seeing that Morrigan was the one who added it, and the page's been edited by many moderators, I'm quite curious as to why. Side project of sorts?

Selected exception, dude. The fact that Morrigan added it pretty much explains it.

Got it, man. I was actually looking for a bit of info (for the additional notes) that explains the band's inclusion, but then the explanation seems to appear elsewhere on the page, hehe. ;P
