My submission of a band was done four days before the one that got accepted:

That sometimes happens. Maybe the moderator saw the newer submission first.

Or maybe, the reason is that the accepted sumbission was silightly more complete than yours. That sometimes happens as well.

"To avoid duplicates, please make sure that this is a different band before submitting."

He clearly didn't.

A poor rule/orange message if other factors are relevant. Though I can see why a substantially incomplete submission would be rejected even if added before, especially if close enough to each other to have had started the adding of info before one was submitted. Not four days later and when the only difference in completeness (that I see) is that his had lyrics. I always add lyrics when I find them, which previous submissions show. So either he found another source for them or they showed up after I submitted the band.

Is the only reason to avoid duplicates to value the time of moderators and not that of regular users?

Can't speak for the specific mod who accepted them, but it's just as likely that he saw that submission before he saw your submission without necessarily taking into consideration the time it was submitted. In any case, I've also given you the same amount of points that the other submitter received, just because your submission probably should have been the one accepted. Shit happens, however. We're only human.

For some reason I just remembered Sophia is on the site and wondered if that's really a noteworthy side-project.

Removed Witchkiller [USA] - the two-track demo tape out under that name actually contains two tracks by the Canadian band of the same name.

Thanks to RunningWild_AT for the excellent ear:
• Witchkiller [USA] — 1984 — Demo 1984 — 01 — Feel the God = Witchkiller [CAN] — 1984 — Demo 1984 — 02 — Fear the Dawn
• Witchkiller [USA] — 1984 — Demo 1984 — 02 — Bleeding = Witchkiller [CAN] — 1984 — Demo 1984 — 03 — Lizzy Borden

Deleted The Crypt from the US. The only known release is almost definitely experimental/acoustic stuff. The only metal releases were under the name Cryptic.

Also In Hearts Wake. -core.

Deleted Invernal from Chile, another PR forgery by user L Ghost and the digital release doesn't qualify.

Hi, please delete this band: http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Expel/3540370835
The band members are from the newly-added band http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/WildEvil/3540402816. I emailed WildEvil about Expel's info: http://i62.tinypic.com/2m4dn37.jpg
Expel is a digital-only band split up around 2014. They don't have any physical album, though they said they released a demo with A & B sides (sounds like a tape): http://site.douban.com/expel/widget/not ... 304519768/

After consulting with the staff, I have removed the following for having insufficient evidence of a release distributed to the public:

Havamal
Pairthra
Spiritual Conquest
Woods of Ymer

In addition, I have removed the three labels associated with the labels as they no longer have any releases on the archives and didn't seem to exist beyond their pop-up wix sites.

Deleted Rightful Heir from Detroit, Michigan. The only demo added/known is by another band with the same name.

This looks more like a band that metal musicians happen to play in than a side-project of metal musicians.

Why don't you review your decision abut Swedish "Engel" - they are "more metal" now than before. OK, I understand that some of you see it as some sort of alternative or even NU kind of a band and it is perfectly legit, but still - they are a metal band with metal musicians.

Deleted Blood Scythe (country of origin unknown). Only two tracks from a split demo tape which are ambiguous noise/black.

only one track and only with a length of 4:35? That is definitely not much.

AmisegardauQ from the US removed. Their only demo was never released since the band never finished recording it.

this here:

http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Mor ... 3540327445

says "Heavy Metal with Hardcore Punk/Oi! influences" but I'd say it's more like Pop melodic Punk (with Oi and core elements) with a few hard rock and metal riffs thrown somewhere in there.

also, this here:

http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Sel ... 3540345990

says "Heavy/Power Metal" but I'd say it's predominantly a hard rock band, although it would have to be checked a little more carefully to see how much metal influence is there and what's the balance..

Nope, I'm someone else. This is the my second ever input on this site, the first was quickly responded to and the deathcore band was deleted.

So, this band was reported and the moderators here think it is metal? Wow..

so just out of curiousity, what exactly is the deal with the "The Satan Records" bands (Sewer, Phantom, etc) I saw they were removed from the archives but I wasn't clear as to why or what the whole story was.

Are those releases not legitimate? I have heard those bands, I listened to them just out of curiosity, and while neither of them are very good (typical naieve teenage attempts at trying to play underground black/death metal) they do sound metal enough, albeit badly executed, to qualify for inclusion.

Relinquished (Death Metal, United States)

Hi, I'm just curious, why this band got accepted even though they only released a digital demo and total length is just 17:23?

Solid quality, cover art, around 20 minutes long. It may be at the lower end of what we consider acceptable, but it's fine.

So, If I find a band that qualified (solid quality, cover art, around 20 minutes long), I can add it right?
