Armageddon III - Their music can be listened here: ReverbNation

A strange Kittie/Tool/Otep hybrid with strong focus on simple bass grooves. Not groove metal.
The ReverbNation description says: "Influenced by: Slayer band, Pantera, System of a Down, Tool, Soulfly"

Hmmm... Those guys are coming to my town, so thought I'd check them out. Seems like I'm not going. Shitty to say the least. Irrelevant, I know. Anyway, they sound Godsmack-y, for lack of a better word. Someone more into this stuff should check the band. Not metal.

Metal? I doubt it. These Russians sound exactly like second wave RAC/Viking Rock:

Deleted "Cum Book" from Austria. Non-metal grindcore/noisecore listed as "goregrind." Accepted in 2009, but their 2009 material, 2010 full-length, and recent stuff isn't metal - Derigin and Metantoine confirmed this.

Psycho Carnival sounds like alternative rock/metal with a nü metal vibe.
Their only material, a 3-song EP can be listened here.

Arcana was submitted by Morrigan and is named as a selected exception, the guy's other non-metal band Sophia however was not submitted by a mod and is not named an exception. Don't think it's relevant to the site in any way.

Based on which split was Violent Gorge accepted? I think a note should be added on the band's main page; I can't find anything metallic enough, to be honest.

Wow - I didn't realize this was one release in a slew of them but I accepted it based on the split with the plague in 2014. Hmmm though..

Well, the split in question sounds okay, but it would indeed be great to have a look at 2-3 other releases.

The splits just kept on coming and I checked a few. It was quite underhand, the whole submission, I thought.
Anyway, here's a compilation (2013) of their earlier stuff:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnhDHdgHndA
And one of their latest splits (second track):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TqxwlDbbV4
Grindcore isn't my thing, but neither material screams metal.

bleh, guess I'll have to check their disco... I'll delete the page for now and restore it later, if justified, since people are still adding releases and let's not waste their time.

I will err on the side of caution with Violent Gorge, especially considering that it was not properly assessed in the first place (not blaming you, TUA). I checked half a dozen more releases and it's really not decisive. I reckon it's more on the punk side, discography-as-a-whole-wise, or at least not with proper footing on the metal one.

Nah, it's my fault for not seeing there's an insane discography to go with that one release I checked out. If you want to go all out Az, same user is submitting many of the others bands on some of those splits with Violent Gorge - so you might be able to accept / reject all at the same time.

Deleted Zerolose/Zeroloose. One 10-minute metalcore EP under the former name, one alt rock/nu-metal full-length under the latter.

And also Anatomy of Habit. Mostly riffless doomy avant-garde music.

Not metal, there's some buzzing in track 3 and at the end of track 6, but it doesn't really approach metal.

sorry for reposting, but this is pretty much fully ambient

RETTURN
I have Strain, the sophomore, in my hands - in and out the stereo, really. Redolent of later Sepultura, minus the stately history. Unless their debut is indeed a death/thrash album, this one needs to be shuffled off after you've quickly shuffled through the tracks.
There aren't any samples online. Anyone interested? Let me know, as I won't be holding on to it for long.
*mumbles "for fans of RATM perhaps"* :nods:

Most of the albums are low-fi hard/blues/speech rock and not even close to metal. Two latest albums feature some distorted guitars but no real metal riffs (maybe a few).
All albums available at VK for listening - https://vk.com/audios-5334789?album_id=29227497
If VK doesn't work for you, I can upload all of them.

I'm still in the process of evaluating that one, doesn't seem straightforward.

Weird stuff and I agree that the majority of the discography is some sort of raw, odd, sometimes metallic rock and not really metal per se. However, Свободы захотели? seems to be pretty consistently heavy metal, so that one saves them. I've tweaked their genre a bit, though.

At least, it's clear to me judging by their latest album, Cleanse the Destroyers

Just listen to the title track or Stonecaster.
A fair comparison can be done with Mushroomhead (without the industrial elements). I hear tons of early Slipknot in their 2011 album Monday.
There are metal riffs & rhythms sporadically (mainly groove, unlike "death metal" as incorrectly listed), but the core of the music is alternative. (this)

Let's not get carried away, metal enough. Genre changed.

Listened to all the samples here. Not even a trace of heavyness.
Alternative rock with gothic influences. Mostly soft music.

There are borderline moments, but it's mostly metallic-sounding guitars over a goth-rock structure and gutural vocals thrown in.

All the songs of their only full album can be listened here, on this playlist

Deleted.

Yikes, deleted. EDIT: I've also tossed the successor band Demia, since it's not much different (if with a tad more groove metal in the mix).

Please do share, but even if it's not metal, there are still two more full-lengths to evaluate.

A few songs from the third album appeared on Capadocia's debut. Have a listen. Actually, I think the album was never released under the Retturn moniker. The album entry was added by a band member; it may have been planned for release. Either way, those songs aren't metal.

I'll send you a dropbox link shortly as concerns the other release.

Märci. It's so embarrassing to have had this stuff listed for over 10 years and as death/thrash no less...

Removed, never to retturn. If the debut really turns out to be metal, whoever owns it can share it first.

Band's only release is mostly ambient with very minimal black metal.

Need to ask, but not about deleting the band. About this entry http://www.metal-archives.com/albums/Ab ... nce/390615
Band member ask me to delete this entry but I cant. I said only moderators can do this.
He said that single was uploaded only on youtube for streaming. Its just rehearsal recording on studio. So it can be cleansed?

Dol Theeta needs to be re-evaluated.

Incorrectly listed as "Progressive/Symphonic Metal with Electronic music influences",
their style is purely based on electronic alt-rock layered with metallic guitars that are present in only very few songs.
Various genres are involved, but this is not predominantly metal.

Discography:
Goddess EP / The Universe Expands (full-lenght) / Knee-Deep EP

Happy New Year folks! :-D
