Deleted Eternal Misery from Morocco for serial plagiarism with the agreement of Azmodes. The band's only full-length was stolen from R. Nikolaenko, other tracks have been confirmed as stolen (including a cover - who the fuck steals a cover of a song?) and the rest of the demo tracks seem to come from different origins, suggesting that they too are not the artists own, original work. The band has not been proven to have a valid release based on the extent of plagiarism in known works.

Looking at that makes my head hurt, but I heard those samples before and I know that material is stolen. This is going to require looking into it more but that is an arduous task that I am not up to right now.

Sorry I can't provide links right now, as I'm on a mobile phone, but can the mods check out the Argentinian band Bloodparade? I was about to review one of their albums for the review challenge but it occurred to me that it'd be dumb to waste time writing about a band who might not even belong on the website. They're listed as "gothic metal" but all of the stuff I've heard ranged from a marginally heavier Evanescence to full-on techno with rock vocals on top; all-in-all it sounds more like hard rock mixed with electronica than metal.

You can find samples on YouTube if you search, but I can gather up links for you guys myself tomorrow once I'm on a computer. I can also provide samples from the Take My Blood EP if needed.

Is there any verdict on this? I posted samples on the previous page.

Disperse: http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Disperse/3540334963

Combination of jazz fusion-y stuff, SimCity soundtrack music and djent. Gets kind of metally at times but it's mostly just a combination of the aforementioned three things.

First album can be streamed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zR_JM3PRL7Y
Second album can be streamed here: http://disperseband.bandcamp.com/

While we are purging djent bands, Intervals should probably be looked at too. Again, I love the band's music, but it's pretty much Animals as Leaders style djent.

That doesn't mean they're beyond reproach. Morri doesn't remember this one, but Zodi and I agree it's riffless djent for the most part. Deleted.

Deleted Galexia. Trumped up shitty bedroom industrial, later rap, with a bunch of wild claims about guest appearances by prog superstars and major label record deals.

I mean, I guess this could be a celebration of his album with Arjen Anthony Lucassen on lead vocals, but if that was real someone probably would've noticed the band on MA before now.

I'll have to find some of his tracks and (re?)pitch-shift them again, I deleted the files because nobody seemed to give a damn.

Also see the additional notes for Lux Omega Perpetuam's "Lord of Unlight", which the label quickly added when I sent them an e-mail regarding the fact that most of this guy's music is stolen:

I had to rip one of Lux Omega Perpetuam's tracks from myspace; the rest has since been deleted.

http://www.mediafire.com/listen/bc73vm4u2h59mc8/lux.mp3
The sample consist of the track "Inanna Wolves as presented on the Lux Omega Perpetuam myspace page and after that, the same track sped up 8,something semi-tones.

It has already been confirmed that one of the tracks was stolen from Urfaust ("Sexual Darkness" from Lux Omega Perpetuam's "Lord of Unlight" tape), I still have no idea who the orignal artist of this track is.
All of his other projects sound as if he used a track from some artist and added a bunch of fruityloops effects over it; might be good to look into his material.

His projects:

Lux Omega Perpetuam has been removed for prolific plagiarism and no proof of any original material. I had listened to the samples when they were first posted but I wasn't a moderator at the time. Great work on identifying that.

As far as the other projects go, do you have any sort of proof that any of the music there is stolen? I really have no interest in spending time listening to shit like this, but I'll handle it if someone else has the proof.

These Beherit and Von covers really sound like the originals but pitch shifted though... I'm not up for manipulating the audio at the moment to try to match, but if anyone wants to do that and share it, that'd be good.

Those "covers" are probably the originals from those bands, just pitch-shifted and added some of his vocals!
Don't worry, we'll check that as well!

Because we don't consider djent to be a sub genre of metal.
Your question is about the same as if you'd ask why we don't make nu metal or hard rock a category.

Okay, I understand that. So it just depends on the band if they are more in one direction than the other.

Also when did djent start being allowed as a genre in the first place?

When did it start becoming acceptable to add djent bands, you mean? It never did. The bands you are seeing getting nuked here were all submitted under something along the lines of "progressive metal" or "progressive deathcore", so I suppose a less knowledgeable mod would not think to assume that these bands might be djent. They are oversights, not a policy change. There are a couple valid djent-influenced bands here, like Meshuggah and The HAARP Machine, but they're few and far between.

Or do you mean when was it accepted as a term to describe music on this site? I dunno, earlier this year? Djent's obviously a thing now with its own subculture, but more importantly there isn't any other brief way to describe these kinds of bands ("progressive metalcore/mathcore/nu-metal" just sounds stupid).

Basically yeah, the word "djent" wasn't even a thing until relatively recently, and for the longest time there was only Meshuggah who sounded like that anyway, and since there wasn't really a word for their sound at the time, they were normally just lumped in with prog metal (albeit a different style of it). Since then, with the advent of bands like Periphery and Bulb and Xerath and other knockoffs, the word came to be somehow and now it's pretty easily defined as its own scene. The confusion stems from people stuck in that mindset that djent is part of prog metal it seems, and that's just not the case. It has much more in common with mathcore bands like Dillinger Escape Plan or SikTh than even the heaviest of prog metal.

sounded like clear MDM/metalcore to me with a somewhat new inclination to deathcore in their last songs. But that's fine anyway, I won't bother with *core bands on this site anymore as I clearly can't see where the line is drawn.

Why is Absinthropy here? I particularly enjoyed their stuff, but it sounds like dark/depressive rock rather than black metal, and even core-y in some places. If you took out the vocalist, it doesn't seem like there'd be that many traces of black metal at all.

Then again, I have a terrible judge in what counts as metal on the site, so maybe it's just me.

All their releases can be heard in their entirety at their Bandcamp.

I suppose The Contortionist should probably be looked at as well. These guys are a bit harder to judge, as they aren't entirely djent, but i'm not sure if the metal elements are really predominant in their sound over the progressive elements. I already know their early EP's are unacceptable deathcore, but they were accepted based off of Exoplanet. Well after listening to Exoplanet, I'm still hearing a lot of djent influence. The lastest album, Intrinsic, seems to go even further with the prog elements. Another great band, but i'm just not sure if metal is the predominant influence.

Thoughts?

It would appear that we either have a pair of dubious bands on the site, or someone trying to white wash. This report is from someone that claims to be BVR (aka Grand Inquisitor Behornant), the man behind Finland's Ill Rectum and LegioNex. He claims that all of the releases from both bands are simply trumped up compilations of loose MP3s he uploaded to Finnish music sharing site mikseri.net, and that both bands should be taken down in light of this. To the surprise of no one, he offered no proof other than his own word.

I did a few bare bones searches of mikseri.net and turned up nothing on either band. Google also proved useless; LegioNex turned up a bunch of suggestions for corrected spellings, and Ill Rectum brought back our page and a bare Last.FM page.

For what it's worth, both bands were added on 8/25/2005 by a long-time user named vacca.

^ Here's a Mikseri forum post by this dude. He mentions Ill Rectum and Legio Nex [sic] under projects he's composed/played for, and all the releases MA mentions for those two bands under "recordings".

That was in 2009, which would be three years after he removed the bands from Mikseri. Why mention them then, if they were all gone and buried?

I can come up with a few reasons for that myself, including him being prouder of those works in the past than he currently is, but I guess this makes his report a bit more suspicious. In the end this isn't really proof to either direction.
