Revisiting Night Sun, I wouldn't object to them being listed (again). I had a short discussion with another, much, much, much more knowledgeable moderator about their historical importance and similar non-musical aspects that might factor into including these controversial proto-metal acts and he didn't consider them relevant enough in that regard. He did, however, concede to their heaviness. Now, having listened to the album again, I'd say this perspective might not even be needed, considering how darn heavy/metal the album is, despite/because of the let's-fucking-play-actually-progressive-music-kinda prog rock being dished out here.

Add to that that they used to be on here (I was previously unaware of this) and were most likely removed by one single mod without discussion. At least I couldn't find any sign of it other than a user bringing them up for deletion.

Thanks for the response. It's hardly a djent group, yes - they do use 8 strings so you are going to hear what an 8 string guitar sounds like.

Here is another Black Crown Initiate song from their EP.

Can you provide proof that the band has something released?

On August 16th, Buckethead released what might be his most metal album yet. I've always considered him metal, although a good chunk of his releases aren't - some are. Only the first track is streamable off Telescape which I've linked to below but I definitely think that one is more metal than rock. And he's pretty consistent through records since he releases so many, so the rest of the album sounds that way too. Is there a chance for reconsideration or am I just barking up the wrong tree?

I hadn't listened to it when I posted but interestingly enough - the streamable track off Pancake Heater (yep, Pancake Heater) is even heavier.

A while ago, I submitted a band called Dark Land, and it was rejected for not having a physical release/valid enough digital release. I just saw this Facebook post about how he burned a copy of the demo for a guy he met in his hotel. Would that be considered a valid physical release? Or should I wait to resubmit until Dark Land comes out with a second demo or if that full-length ever materializes?

Considering Buckethead has put out somewhere between 50 and 100 albums including that weird 13 CD-r set, I'm not exactly moved by two tracks from digital albums that sound like heavy instrumental rock. If he releases a full album that is predominantly metal, then it can be considered. Pancake Heater sounds more like alt hard rock than metal to me.

I don't consider that a valid PR for Dark Land.

Okay, and having owned all his damn releases, "weird 13 CD-r set" is right on the money for that one. :)

Can Meat Shits maybe be reconsidered for their album Give Hate a Chance? I'm aware they're mostly known for being pornogrind/noisegrind, but I'm hearing quite a bit of death metal influences alongside the grind on this album in particular. I'd be comfortable in saying that they dominate the music here. You could argue that there's too many samples, to which I couldn't really offer a rebuttal - if the mods consider samples to be as integral to the sound of a band as the more musical sections, that's their prerogative - but as far as the actual music goes I think this album is pretty much all you could ask for.

I've tried to add the band called "Crown of Twilight", but Derigin have banned it and labeled as "ambient". You can try it at the band's Bandcamp page, there are only intro/interlude/outro an ambient tracks, all others are black metal. I've tried to contact him through email and chat, but without any answer.

Why the band Oceano ( United States ) is blacklisted ?
This band is pure Deathcore and few similar band are accepted here ( Despised Icon ) ect...
Band like Rush or Def Leppard don't even play Metal music but are here in the metal archives

before shouting about bands you better first search for proof. Rush is here because of albums like Roll the Bones, which are considered metal. I guess Def Leppard is here because of their first pair of albums which were heavier and which are probably considered NWOBHM.
The Moderators will tell you why Oceano is not acceptable but my guess is that they are too much core while similar bands will probably have at least one predominantly Metal album.

Just my 2 cents.

Crown of Twilight seems to be more metal than ambient, but it appears the band doesn't have a valid release.

Oceano are not a metal band, they're a hardcore band.

Rob1, mini-modding aside, don't post when you have no idea what you are talking about. Rush are here as an ambiguous rock/metal band that make up for their lack of "metalness" with their historical importance. Not any particular release. They are even directly mentioned in the rules. I for one don't consider them to be metal, but I respect and understand that exception.

As for Def Leppard, those who have the ability to read have the advantage:
Def Leppard are only listed in the Archives because of their first three albums being considered NWOBHM.

Oceano a hardcore band ? hahaha
Ok I must admit, they have few hardcore elements here and here but overall the band is closer to Death/Grind
We are FAR from HateBreed or Sick of it All here !

...............

Death/grind is how a LOT of deathcore snuck in under the radar years and years ago here, but I didn't think anybody really fell for it. Dude, what grind is involved in Oceano at all? They're a pure beatdown deathcore band, they're one of the most obvious and undiluted examples I can think of. Not acceptable, end of discussion.

Update: okay, the Meat Shits album Violence Against Feminist Cunts is sounding primarily DM-influenced (beyond the goofy first track) as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMI6hs9NDPE

I can only find one Meat Shits song from Gorenography, but it is also metal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLR0GenY3f8

Songs from Ecstasy of Death:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYvEfXKESgI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUOFcHhD-oE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2Rlta-z6nA

Meat Shits should almost certainly be removed from the blacklist in light of this. I'm aware that their early EPs are noisegrind (see here, for example), but it seems like no one has yet bothered to investigate the full-lengths they've released in the past 15 years... possibly because the band aren't very good and nobody with taste would actually listen to them? Either way, I believe that in light of the band's past (apparently) four full-lengths, this is a legitimate mistake.

I would really like it if we could lift the blacklist on the band MERAUDER from NY. I'm aware of their hardcore roots (the demo) but their first full length album, Master Killer, is undeniably metal. I consider them to be far more metal and heavy than their crossover NYHC predecessors in Leeway, Crumbsuckers and Carnivore. The singers voice is extremely strong and versatile. The solos and leads are all complex, and the album itself was quite ahead of it's time. The archives needs to be graced with classics like Besiege the Masses and Master Killer. Their later albums such as Five Deadly Venoms and God Is I are also highly metal.

Hey

I am trying to add the band "Malignant Germ Infestation" who are apparently black listed. I am assuming they have been attempted to be added before however I am trying to add them now as I have had a handful of people asking me to add these guys to the metal archive.

They are a UK based death metal/grind band. They use a lot of influences from other genres including synth sections. They are active, do live shows:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dMY5WUtopY

Have physical album releases (no site so far has them all in one place which is why it'd be good to get them up here):
http://www.discogs.com/artist/Malignant ... nfestation

And are most obviously an extreme metal band and have the right to be un-blacklisted and have a page here. I think so anyway. Mods, see what you think. + Any questions feel free to ask as I am actually part of the band.

Apparently they're "synthy noisegrind", if you think they have sufficient death metal or metallic grind influences, please point out a release and many samples.

Mutant, I listened to a few Meat Shits tracks and I'm not convinced. Sounds like grind with a few nods to death metal. Though I got annoyed by the gratuitous intros, so I didn't listen to much. We talked a bit about them on IRC and it would appear a couple of other mods think they are not acceptable either.

Metallic hardcore, from the sounds of it. Borderline? Mind you, I do get confused by these bands sometimes.

Well, I wouldn't go so far as to say it has "no riffs"... there are definitely organized guitar patterns going on in most of the songs I listened to. :P Still, I'll accept the mods' decision, and besides, I don't really have any reason to be emotionally or argumentatively invested in such a crappy band.

Yeah there are definitely cyber influences but I think it's unfair to say that it's the core of the music as I think you'll find from these clips. So check 'em out and let me know what you're thinking.

Ok I must admit, they have few hardcore elements here and here but overall the band is closer to Death/Grind

Dude. Do the world a favour... don't ever pretend to know what grindcore is. Ever.

Seriously, few things piss me off more than idiots misusing that term. Your band is deathcore with its roots in hardcore riffs, not metallic riffs.

Sorry mate, but as much as I love the band, the guitars lack enough metallic riffs for the band to be considered for acceptance.

^ They're technically kind of a cover band, depending on how you look at it.

Metallic hardcore, from the sounds of it. Borderline? Mind you, I do get confused by these bands sometimes.

:fuck: :snipe:

Relax. I meant they have chunkier riffs and tones. Carnivore is one of my favorite bands ever and I'd fight til my bloody end for them to be on this site. I have a Carnivore tattoo but no Merauder tattoo.

But really, Cro-Mags are on this site and not Merauder. It's really shocking.

I never said that we talk about a GrindCore band here... I just said that they are closer to, because some riffs and blastbeats in few songs reminds me many extreme Death metal band and little GrindCore influence here and here. I'm not a junior, I'm in the metal community since 20 years and I have more than 200 cds with all style of metal ( Dream Theater, Dissection, Suffocation, Mortician ) ect... By the way my favorite GrindCore band is GridLink

Oceano is dumb as fuck beatdown hardcore, not even remotely metal, will not be added, period.

Merauder are hardcore, not metal, and the type of NYHC stuff that is metal is generally crossover thrash, not the chunky groove hardcore like Merauder or Madball.
