Uhm, when a blacklisted band releases something that could be considered borderline metallic, it generally isn't enough because it bears too many resemblances to the material that got them blacklisted in the first place.

They're not metal, they're some sort of deathcore primarily rooted in hardcore, mostly breakdowns. Thick, low-tuned guitar chugging, no metal riffs. Sadly, nothing like the Darkest Hour song "Convalesence" as I was hoping.

Slow Mover was improperly rejected based on lack of release when they do in fact have a fulllength released.

The original submission had a link to bandcamp (http://slowmover.bandcamp.com/) where a full download is available. In addition, there are photographs there of the LP in vinyl. The release is more than 30 minutes in length.

First of all thanks for the speedy reply. Maybe there's another band with the same name ? but if you listen to these clips you'll hear they are more death metal than deathcore and have NO CLEAN VOCALS. Please reconsider them as metal. They are the second band I'm signing to my label and the first thing I do is come to Enc Met to check on a band and was surprised they were blacklisted. Of course I respect the opinions of the mods but I just don't understand why breakdowns doom a band as metal when it's extreme music and not "hard rock" or "punk"

My band Shaman's Owl was rejected. I know why, I'm not fighting it. My question is how do i submit our record since our debut album is a split 10"? Here is proof that it it currently being sold.

http://www.feastoftentacles.com/distro.html

You have to scroll down to Seven Sisters of Sleep/Shaman's Owl under the 10" heading. (or just ctrl-f)

You can listen to it here...

and you can see it here...

The band is blacklisted because it is not metal, the note suggests that it's some sort of lo-fi noise.

The submission didn't have the discography/lineup/links entered properly, only in the submission notes, so I missed it. Please enter the information properly before submitting. You may resubmit, though this sounds like stoner rock, so it may be rejected for not being metal after it is evaluated.

That's deathcore, not death metal. A bit of melodeath but predominantly non-metal.

I really disagree with the rejection of Pantalones Abajo Marinero.
I hear metal riffs in their songs on the style of brutal death metal and grindcore.

Okay. I defer to your knowledge on this. They just got a new guitarist who likes to riff so their new stuff will likely be metal to you. I'll just wait until they have some new recordings before asking again that the blacklisting be removed. Cheers.

I know many of you are sick and tired of listening to people say that Germ should be on MA...but take a listen to this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLb_PnSFWNc

It's off their upcoming album "Grief" and it even features Audrey Sylvain of Amesoeurs and Peste Noire. No more Trance-like synths at all!

I think it deserves to be on MA and I would love to add them.

Thanks!

Uhm yeah, so do I. I'm hearing less grind than BDM riffs, you can resubmit. This is practically Enmity worship.

There's this local band that has just released a full-length digitally. It's blacklisted. It's definitely a really borderline case, but I think the new album should be checked out: http://cityscapedrawninblackink.bandcamp.com/

Hi there,

I typed in Ramlord as I was trying to submit them, and they are apparently blacklisted. I am a fan of metal, crust and grind, and enjoy many of the hybrid black metal/crust punk bands of recent years, bands like Iskra, Martyrdod (who are not on the archives, which I agree with), newer Darkthrone, Dishammer, Leper, certain Impaled Nazarene songs, later-era Darkthrone, some Gallhammer, etc, and I've been listening to this album "Crippled Minds, Sundered Wisdom" and it's certainly a hybrid of crust punk and black metal, I would say that this band is overall a metallic crust punk band, by which I mean that they are metal-oriented in their sound.

I mean, there are punkish riffs, vocals, drum patterns throughout the album, but it rocks in that old school Venom, Motorhead, Darkthrone-esque way; very metal, not so much punk. It's obvious that it's a hybrid, but this is as metal as Trap Them for example, who are a grindcore/crust punk band on the archives. It's certainly as least as metallic as Iskra, who are blackened crust.

Could a mod please give http://ramlord.bandcamp.com/ a listen, I'm 9 songs through and while there is a trio of half-to-three-quater minute songs near the beginning, the songs themselves are a hybrid of the styles, but lean towards that punkish short song style. Other bands on the archives (Napalm Death being the easiest example on hand) mix metal and punk styles and have normal-length songs and very short songs intermixed, so this is not unusual for metal bands with punk roots, and vice versa.

Thanks for looking into this!

Does anyone know why black crown initiate was blacklisted?

http://blackcrowninitiate.bandcamp.com/

Is this not metal? It's a decent sized EP and the band just got their full lineup together.

The blacklist note says "Spacey, atmospheric prog/post-rock sections contrasted harshly by deathcore breakdowns."

I'll check Ramlord momentarily, Nyaricus.

Ramlord sounds okay to me. Blackened crust sufficiently black. Unless any other mods have objections I'll remove them from Da List.

Basrabian Hills are predominantly ambient, per the blacklist note.

Krayl have been evaluated as not being predominantly metal at least twice before, and this track is ~2 minutes of metal then some ambient, on a five-way split limited to 33 copies, and the tracks aren't even downloadable from BandCamp. You have asked SIXTEEN times for the band to be unblacklisted and the band is predominantly metal nor would I consider this a valid release. Stop wasting our time repeatedly posting here, your music is evidence enough that you can waste time.

I tried to add a band from Sacramento, CA called Bispora. They are a progressive metal band with two releases, and aren't a faggot metalcore band by any stretch of the imagination. I'd appreciate if it was removed from the blacklist.

ok i wuld ask u to remove it from blacklist after i release the demo , and that time i wuld send u the bandcamp link of the songs which wuld be downloadable, but can u please tell me why dont u think this split is a valid release? its a physical release on a label with worldwide distribution, the band dreariness is also part of the split, they hv an account here on MA, and u also said that this track is 2 min of metal then some ambient, so cant a metal track have any ambient parts? please tell me a reason why ur not removing it from blacklist now, all the criterias r met right? the song is metal, the split is a valid release, then whts the problem mods? i dont wana waste ur time, i just want to add krayl here, thats all, anywys thanks

Hi! I recieved this email rejecting Misty Grey for the following reasons:

Quote:
Sorry Terrion666, Encyclopaedia Metallum was forced to reject your submission for the band Misty Grey (Spain), for the following reason:

A band needs a valid release before they can be accepted to the site - a valid release is one that's either:
Distributed in physical form (CD, CDr, DVD, tape, vinyl, etc)
Digital and available for full download: must also be a finished/final mix (no garage rehearsals or rough mixes), AND long enough (preferably over 20 minutes)
Already released. That is, no upcoming releases!

To prove this, you must include one of the following:
PHYSICAL RELEASES: Include photographic evidence (such as this or this) and upload them to a site like Imgur.com. Optionally, if you don't have access to any of the copies, you can include links to sites like BigCartel or a label's page that's selling them, or officially announced them as available for ordering.
DIGITAL-ONLY RELEASES: Include links to sites like Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon, etc, to where the release can be purchased or downloaded.
If you want to object to this rejection, please do so in the appropriate thread in the Suggestions and Complaints sub-forum. Do not e-mail moderators directly about this.

Sincerely,
- Porman, Encyclopaedia Metallum

It's over 20 minutes (30 more or less) and was released digital firstly on bandcamp ("released 02 June 2013") than tape (15 september 2013). If you can explain me why. Thanks!

The tape is not out yet and there is no sign of the demo being available for download. It's just for streaming on Bandcamp.
