Ridiculous, ludicrous!! For the 10th time I tried to archive the CEREBRENITZA, and always came with crap talk, you sayd that Srebrenica ábul has no guitar!!!! There are super distorted guitars all the time!!! They sound like a rain storm, becouse they are too distorted with reverb. Its a shame do not recognize them! Every time, ever the same thing:REJECTED! You could listen with care the sound, only the 1rst and 8th tracks have no guitar...Its really pathetic you that have listend to milions of black metal bands do not recognize a distorted guitar, with tremolo picking all the time, and with fulll reverb.

Calm down, please.

And sure, the guitars are distorted to a point where they run together to become nothing but atmosphere. Fine, we understand. That's not metal though, that's guitar ambience. We define metal by metallic riffs, and there's a huge difference between raw black metal bands that have thick, distorted riffing and your music.

Speaking of your music, the Bandcamp link suddenly appears to be dead. Let me guess, you only put that online for the moderators to listen to? Doesn't even sound like you're too serious about releasing your music digitally, anyway. So even if your music WAS considered metallic by the site's guidelines, I doubt it'd qualify as having a valid release.

Hello, I read the rules yet.
I tried to submit Locus Animæ, an italian atmospheric/melodic black metal band, but my submission was rejected because of "no metal riffs". I don't understand why:

Uomo Primo:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaSxNFAr7dE
Typical atmospheric black metal riffing, with blast beat and screaming vocals too...and this is not metal?

Condannato a Nuova Vita:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FUh7dA3CYw
Same here, the riffing is definitely metal.

Come Pioggia...:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRr-qdxf3K4
Ok, the first part isn't metal at all, but at 1:50 a long metal section starts.

Locus Animæ:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lk64f0abE50
Same here, there is a not metal intro followed by a tipycal atmospheric/post-black riffing (in the vein of Woods of Desolation).

Even if you can have some doubts on the last two songs, the first two songs are definitely metal, so I don't understand why you rejected my submission.
By the way, thanks for your attention.

Hi

today i found the depressive black metal band Xathrites and i thougt i would subit it but it was declined because of a non-valid release.
but they posted their album The Warrior of God on their facebook with a valid download link:https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=516963788324263&set=a.468491889838120.103602.468070196546956&type=1

it has a Cover, it is a full length, it is Metal(depressive black metal) and it's 24:32 min long.

so i think that it is enough proove.

cheers

There are no guitar riffs. A few ringing arpeggios don't constitute a guitar riff. Several staffers have already stated that this is not a metal band.

24 minutes is not a full length. This is a rough mix. This is not a finished, professional album, the amount of clipping suggests that whoever mixed/mastered the album had no prior experience. From the rules: "Final mix: No rehearsals, raw promos, rough mixes of any kinds are accepted for digital releases. Only finished, professional albums."

I have taken photos of physical release of FERRHIN and put at myspace, but it was not acept. I really don't want release by internet, becouse, one example, when I put SREBRENICA album into BANDCAMP, the piratary came out of control. In the several sites, they classified the album as ATMOSPHERIC BLACK METAL. And I was not wanting the band appearing in 10000 sites, just that it be showed here. The 3th album it's more metal, the XENOBORG. But it's too hard to archive the band, and its root is black metal really. I myself worked hard for the years to make the CEREBRENITZA's releases, now I never get to archieve the band here, and I think this is the best site to anounce a band. Well, thanks for answer! I got calm.

Your "wrong genre" doesn't mean that you gave the wrong genre but that this band's music is not of a genre that belongs onto this website. It's blacklisted for being Blackgaze. If you are sure that this is wrong, give some samples.

That's because it wasn't rejected. It was wrongly approved and recently deleted by me. See here. Now, the guy who brought them up may not have had the most noble of reasons for flagging it for deletion, but the end product is the same because I agreed that the music is not metal.

Re-read the post I linked to. I didn't only listen to the stuff he posted, I checked as much material online as I could find, including the majority of the first two demos based on which the band was accepted. That also includes your links, and none of those are predominantly metal. Or really metallic in any way for the most part.

@Amoniakk: I'll check it as soon as I can.

My NWOBHM/Thrash metal project White Hornet was recently rejected due to no proof of a physical release...here's a picture to prove there's an EP circulating. I'd encourage you all to check this out...it's damn good old-school metal:

Morker, we don't reject/blacklist bands for not being metal based purely on the submitter's description. I listened to that entire damn album from start-to-finish and heard nothing but blackened shoegaze (often referred to as "blackgaze"). I blame Alcest for helping blur the lines between atmospheric black metal and shoegaze.

In Draugadrottinn's music, there's no riffs, no aggression, no balls. Just harmonics, keyboards and feedback. Again, blackgaze.

What are you talking about? There was nothing here nor here. Just a bunch of digital images that I presume are supposed to be cover artwork. That says nothing about "Hey, this was a CD, it was distributed between people".

Urano wrote:

Okay, so... you're telling me you just registered that Bandcamp and uploaded that music for the sole purpose of getting your band onto Metallum? Yeah, that's pretty much exactly the same as making a few physical copies and photographing them just to get your band onto the site. It's pretty apparent you're not serious about releasing your music on a digital medium, since you're apparently afraid of "piracy" (mind you, there's the same risk of people ripping music and "pirating" it too. :p)

Urano wrote:
In the several sites, they classified the album as ATMOSPHERIC BLACK METAL.

Really? Based off whose description, your own? Sorry dude, but metal is defined by guitar riffs, not ambience/drumming/vocal style. A lot of erroneous descriptions are given to "blackened dark ambient" bands passing them off as atmospheric/depressive black metal, when there's 0 riffs.

Urano wrote:
The 3th album it's more metal, the XENOBORG.

Yeah, well, we're judging your band based on what material we hear. And since you uploaded the material from a non-metallic release for us to judge your band's music on, well... what are we, to take your word that the album is any different?

Urano wrote:

Okay, so, you worked hard on producing some albums. Apparently, they're physical. Then prove it by taking some good, crisp photographs of the hard copies you have on hand. As in, something like this:
Spoiler: show

Scroll up and see Mcniggleston's post about White Hornet. That's also a good example of the sort of proof we're looking for.

And, we need substantial song samples from said release to make sure it's actually metallic.

Hi!

I was going to add Cut To Fit, bud it was blacklisted so I started think why is that?

Yeah they are grindcore band, but they are as grind as Spawn From Deceit, Nasum, Afgrund, Feastem, Gaf, Nistikko, Death Toll 80K, Büfo or even Rotten Sound.

So why are they blacklisted?

Hmmm, weird. Sorta like melodic/atmospheric black metal with everything accounted for except the riffs. I don't know what to make of this right now. Any other mods wanna comment?

Nah, sounds like industrial taking some influences from metal. The songs on ReverbNation, that is. None of the tracks you cite are on there. Can you link to those? Do they make up an album with a similar sound or are they just cherry-picked? Understand that we need metal releases, not metallic songs.

I hope its enough to proof that the band had a physical release
Thanx in advance!

Alright, from what I can tell they released a demo-CD-R and a split on tape. So that's covered. But the music (demo tracks I could find on Youtube) doesn't sound very convincing, more unacceptable punk-based grind/goregrind than metal.

Erm, first of all, please don't double-post. If there's something you forgot to include in your original post, just use the "Edit" button (it's located on the right-hand side of the page, just above the post you want to edit). I've merged the two posts for you, but... just something to remember for next time, okay? :) Thanks!

Second, all I'm hearing is noisegrind, mate... this isn't metallic. As a matter of fact, Anal Cunt is looking like Celtic Frost in comparison...

Sorry about not merging.

In all technicality, grindcore is an offshoot of heavy metal, and noisegrind is an offshoot of grindcore so I don't see why this wouldn't be relevant to metal being that it is a direct derivative of it:

I feel like the band I'm in that is already listed on here is further from being metal than this, but no worries.

Blacklist says they were judged punk-based grindcore.

I would like to point out that VITHR is still an active band. According to this site we are split-up, this is not correct.

First of all, please use the report function on the band page next time.

Second of all, the status was changed after a report of an alleged band member (this guy http://www.metal-archives.com/users/Vidr who I assume is Kuldegys?), but no real proof was provided and your FB seems active, so I've changed it back. I take it the supposed mastermind of the band left and you guys want to continue without him, but he claims the rights to the name? If there is some band internal disagreements over the band and who it belongs to, please don't use this site as a battleground.

Not entirely true. It has much of its origin in the punk scene. There's more punk/noise-influenced bands and then there's more (death) metal-influenced bands. We only accept the latter as we are not a Punk Archives. I didn't listen to your band, but I trust Alhadis' judgement. He's very knowledgeable with grind bands.

No, grindcore is an offshoot (or rather, an evolution) of crust punk/hardcore. Its influences can vary drastically: some grind bands are based in metallic riffs (Rotten Sound, Insect Warfare, post-FETO Napalm Death, Wormrot, The Kill, Discordance Axis, Pig Destroyer, etc) and others with a basis in punk riffs (Warsore, Parlamentarisk Sodomi, Scum/FETO-era ND, etc). Others simply do away with any respect to musical structure and simply go for it with sheer noise-fuelled sonic violence (Anal Cunt, LxDxOxHx, Sete Star Sept). Others even have a basis in electronica (subgenres such as cybergrind and some gorenoise projects). Ultimately, there's no clean-cut way to define grindcore, but it sure as fuck wouldn't be to claim it stems from metal.

The band you linked me to is an obvious derivative of noise-based grind. Sorry.

Hmmm, weird. Sorta like melodic/atmospheric black metal with everything accounted for except the riffs. I don't know what to make of this right now. Any other mods wanna comment?

Sounds like neutered black metal. Tentatively acceptable, but extremely wimpy.

And you says that metal is about the riffs, that is bollocks, cause then black and death bands wouldn't get accepted, cause the play termolo-riffs.

Thanks for taking the time to explain! And that is awesome that you referenced The Kill, I just put out their new LP!
