BLACKLISTED

Hello there,

trying to add a band called Gothica from Italy I get the answer, before being finished, that a band with the same name from the
same country has already been blacklisted.
There could of course be (especially for such a quite usual name) two bands with the same name AND the same country.
So, just in case, here are a few facts about the band I was about to add. Hopefully someone could check if it is the same band
that was blacklisted.

Name: Gothica
Origin: Italy, Vasto (Chieti)
Band is compared to My Dying Bride, genre: gothic-doom
They put out a 5 track demo in 1996
The demo was reviewed in the magazine "Flash" (Italy) in March 1996. This review is also the source of the aforementined information

Thank you for checking this

My contribution of Dauw was rejected, possibly because of a lack of evidence for a physical release.
I've photographed the demo cassette (sadly not a pro tape) with the cover that I own. Picture of it is here:

Hope the link works, never used imgur before...

Recently tried to submit Hvile I Kaos to the database and it was rejected for being too short for a digital release (the EP's length is somewhere near the 25-26 minutes mark, but one of the songs is a Dissection cover) and i understand that but i was wondering i can resubmit the band if i add the split album the band realeased along Northsong. Here's the link with the streaming of the album. thanks in advance.

To be honest, this doesn't even sound like metal. Unlike Apocalyptica, they doesn't seem to use any distortion on their cellos, so it just sounds like neoclassical music. Otherwise I would accept it with the EP and split as it's distributed by digital label and not just through random mediafire link.

It's not on the blacklist yet, but I can blacklist them to prevent future submissions, if you wish. They can be reconsidered if they would release something with distortion and metal riffs.

I want to object to the rejection of the band I added called Iron Harvest from the Netherlands. They released a demo two days ago through bandcamp with proper artwork and full information, but it got rejected because apparently the moderator thinks the release is too short. It has 4 songs and a total playing length of 14:33 minutes. I think this is normal for a demo from a Brutal Death Metal band, besides the rules say "(preferably over 20 minutes)" which makes the rule very ambiguous. What do you guys think?

The moderator who originally made the call was correct in his assessment.

While we keep the rule ambiguous simply to give our mods some leeway (and not to pigeon-hole otherwise acceptable albums for rejection over a minor, clerical point), a 14 minute digital demo wouldn't be acceptable for three reasons: 1) It's just too damn short, 2) It's a demo and 3) The band has a single release. Wait until the band produces more music - preferably a longer length album - to put them up again for judgement.

Ok clear. I couldn't read the specific assessment in the first place so I thought it was worth a shot to object to it.

Santuario was rejected for not having a valid release.

Proof from their admittedly monolithic facebook info:

Quote:

The album was officially released in April of 2007. And at Expo Rock, they had physical copies of "Escoge tu Eternidad" available.

Hell there,

I wanted to add an Italian bad called "Gothica". I understand there is a darkwave band with the same from the same country,
but the one I want to add is compared in this review ( http://imgur.com/4Qd9aMQ ) to My Dying Bride.
Could someone temporarly remove "Gothica" from the blacklist, allowing me to add this band?

Thank you

Firstly, please be patient, do not repost the same thing again and again. Secondly, that review is obviously of the same Italian darkwave band:
http://www.discogs.com/Gothica-Gothica/release/1451220
Same album title, same song titles, same member name.
Do you have any song samples to prove that the reviewer didn't have any problems with his ears?

Sorry, did not want to be impatient, just figured, compared to the speed there came an answer previously when I did
not have a scan, that my post had gone unnoticed. After all, on this thread, there are many different issues being
dealt with at the same time. Again, sorry. :-)

I´ll check this further and, in case, post again. It looks undoubtly like the same release, although to compare My Dying Bride
to darkwave craves some SERIOUS problems with your ears.

Have a nice day

Well, it's not the first case when inexperienced reviewers compare gothic/darkwave bands with gothic doom. On the other hand, considering that the Discogs mentions guitars, bass and drums in the recording lineup, it is possible that they have played metal on that demo and later changed their style, but we will need samples to prove it.

So I've seen various people bumping their posts in this thread. I... suppose it's allowed?

Just a note that mine is waiting evaluation above these past few posts ^

Oh yeah, so is meelhuysen's.

Don't bump stuff if it's still on the last page/only a couple days old. Patience. If a post has been buried a couple pages back, okay fine, but we don't always respond instantly.

Be that as it may, you can resubmit the band, though include that quoted part and translate the relevant passages, please.

meelhuysen's band was approved soon after his post here, btw.

Hey mods,

I just had a band, Victimized from Calgary, get rejected for not having a proper release. This is the Facebook post I used as proof of a physical copy: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... eam_ref=10

There are a few other posts on the band's Facebook that indicate their having physical CD's to give out/ship out, including the announcement of a CD release show. I guess I'm unclear as to what constitutes "proof of release" when it comes to announcements on Facebook, because I've submitted bands of this nature in the past and they were accepted.

Can somebody clear this up for me? Thanks!

It might have something to do with the fact that you linked to a picture of a t-shirt, you know. :)

Resubmit it, it's okay.

i would like to know why the band i am trying to add, Device (united states), is blacklisted. it is made up of the former lead vocalist of disturbed, and had a valid album release. i have looked through the rules and regulations carefully, and have not found anything that would restrict them from this site. if i missed something, please feel free to point it out. here is some audio: http://grooveshark.com/#!/profile/Device/22337355 and the band's wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Device_(metal_band) . the band is relatively new, but is good and i think could find a place on this website. again, if in your opinion they don't fit in here, then that is fine. i would just like to know why, if anything. thanks.

You kind of answered your own question there when you said "former lead vocalist of disturbed."

They are a heavy rock band, not metal

I was going to submit a local Sludge band called Bleak, but a disclaimer at the top of the submission page said a band called Bleak (from the United States) has been blacklisted. I wanted to know if it's the same guys.

http://ihatebleak.bandcamp.com/album/demo-2

At the time of their first submission they may have not had a physical release out, but they've got a tape.

why, and when, did Martyr De Mona get blacklisted? their album was released only last week, looks a bit harsh if they went from rejected to blacklisted in 7 days...

It was blacklisted because it's funeral doom-ish dark ambient.

If a band gets rejected for not being metal, it also gets blacklisted. The blacklist is not only a punitive tool of last resort for persistent bands, it also generally serves to prevent (different) people from submitting something that was previously judged unacceptable musically over and over again. And this thread is the contingency plan. Martyr De Mona were blacklisted in January this year, so if there is a new (debut?) album, you know what to do. ;)

thanks to both of you for your replies... I will readily admit that I actually don't know what to do, tho :D

according to their big cartel they have 2 albums, an EP and a single... I have only heard their last/new one, as it's streaming on bandcamp, and, while it's not Saxon or Black Sabbath, it's quite metallic (and admittedly rocking at times)...

it's no biggie, but if anyone fancies a listen:

thanks again :)

Because the only album with that name is considered to be under Theodore Ziras' discography.

I came to inform one thing about the band Skin Culture (Brazil), that usually did a sound New-Metal with tribal and hardcore influences have released in 2013 a full-length with sound direction near to Death Metal/Deathcore genres (with nothing of New Metal, A predominant metal album)

MystTerra (Russia) is blacklisted, I just checked the old post here that because more industrial/folk-rock, not predominantly metal (2010).

There's the latest album (2013) "Orbis Terrarum" that maybe metal enough (?)
Songs: http://vk.com/audios-3703412 (CTRL+F "Orbis Terrarum" 2013)

Hello gentlemen.
I was trying to submit the band Infector Cell, a thrash/death metal band from Brazil, but it says it´s blacklisted. Since is a thrash/death metal band i´d like to understand the reason.

Some links about the band:
http://whiplash.net/bandas/infectorcell.html
http://whiplash.net/materias/cds/188328 ... rcell.html
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWGb0Njs5iQ

Sorry from wrong thread earlier.

Thank you.

They were blacklisted because a user kept trying to add them without providing evidence that they have a release. Seems there is indeed a CD, so go ahead and submit them.
