I tried (For the first time) to add Primal from Los Angeles/Brazil because I actually received the CD and it stated the band was blacklisted. I tried to search and find out on the forum why it is blacklisted. Please advise

You can't be serious writing this.

Music, writing, theatre/cinema - are drastically different media. No vague borders - drastically different. Most of the times hard or impossible to mix.
Comparing that to genres (or any classification for the matter) is just not serious.

Still, when it IS possible to mix those medias, in cases like operas, which you can consider something of a mix of writing, music and theatre - resuts DO get included to all relevant sites (Discogs for CD releases of operas, IMDB for video releases etc), and not excluded from all of those sites.

P.S. Seems you're a kind of guy who would throw an argument like "what's the difference between atmosphere and ocean - they both have oxygen and hydrogen in them, what a vague distinction" just to make it harder to pinpoint the obvious. And the sole proper response to that would be to put your head under water and see how good you'd bee at breathing that way ;-)

The blacklist note for Primal states "grunge/alt rock". Can you link any samples?

There's nothing to whitelist here, TSIR. He's talking about this band (Int'l) [USA/ARG]:
http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/primal1
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a27klG-09Ng
https://www.facebook.com/primalmetalband
He probably got confused by the warning.

Gotcha. Thanks for clearing it up. This is good to go, so submit if you want (as INTERNATIONAL).

Got the new Superjoint promo sent to me today, I was going to add it but there's a note when adding an album to "Superjoint Ritual" that says "Reminder: DO NOT add Caught Up In The Gears Of Application, as it will be released under a different band name and requires as new band entry to be made once it is released!"

So I tried to add the band "Superjoint" since, after searching the queue, I found it wasn't listed. However when I tried to add the band as simply "Superjoint" a message came up saying, "Warning: a band called "Superjoint" (United States) has been blacklisted! Your submission will not go through, unless your band comes from a different country; select the country in the drop-down to verify. If you think this is an error, please ask in this forum thread. Attempting to circumvent the blacklist is a bannable offense. Thank you."

So I have the promo which was sent to me by the publicist and includes the release date and the cover art, but I can't add it because they're black listed. So what am I supposed to do to add it, or is there some other reason they are not to be added to the archives?

Hello,

I just noticed that a band I submitted, Bacterial Husk from Massachusetts, USA now has a live page on the archives when my prior submission was rejected on the grounds of the length of their EP. It looks like the only discernible difference in this new entry is a demo that amounted to 3 minutes. I am writing to inquire on the reasoning for rejecting my initial entry and allowing this later entry.

-Thanks for your time

14 minutes is too short, but the submission that was accepted had proof of physical release. This one was also more complete.

EDIT: Never mind, looked at the history of updates, it was as shit spares as yours. It just had proof of physical release.

"shit spares"? could you clarify what you mean by that? Also proof of physical release, is that referring to an update to the bandcamp page/facebook that mentions a physical CD?

Misspelling "Shit Sparse". The user posted the band's bigcartel that has the demo as a cassette up for sale, so basically yes.

It sounds about as "metal" as the old Superjoint Ritual stuff to me and they're listed.

We're having some internal discussion on whether it should have a separate entry or not based on the legal stuff that has been going on. please be patient with Superjoint. At this point, consider the blacklisting as making sure people don't spam it before the album comes out in November.

We've already come to the decision that a separate page for Superjoint is warranted, but as PDS said, it was blacklisted to prevent people from prematurely adding it. That's (sadly) necessary for bands "of this magnitude". Please post again once the album is (publicly) released.

It was an extreme comparison, granted (let's replace that with any other resource dabbling in particular genres, such as ProgArchives or Classical Music DB Project), but my main point was that you're confusing specialisation with limitation, suggesting that in the end any project trying to explore a particular subject or niche in-depth is doomed to be inferior to broader ventures. You'll find a lot of stuff here that's neither on Discogs nor Wikipedia, courtesy of fans of the subject focusing on the very same subject.

And sure, you are free to start a site that is more cavalier about their inclusions, a Metal and Metal-related Stuff Archives or Metal and Bands with Some Metal Elements Archives that lists anything that has ever been mentioned in relation to metal or uses certain metal elements and aesthetics. See Spirit-of-Metal, for instance. That is however not the aim of this site.

One describes the music as noise (and this new album still seems dubiously riffy), the other suggests there were indications that the band was fake/plagiarising music. It doesn't go into more detail than that. I'll ask the mod who added the entry to comment.

Alright thanks. Will I be able to submit them now you've talked to the mod or are you still unhappy with the metalness of them? The new album is way more black metal than the weird noisy stuff of the two demos imo.
Thanks for the reply btw

The mod hasn't responded yet, we'll keep you posted.

You were banned because you submitted a blacklisted band (Candida Albicans, blacklisted for being "noisy grind-dominant grindcore") by slightly changing the name of the draft. That is a bannable offence, as the orange warning box when trying to submit such a band states.

Hi, I tried to add Dreambleed (https://dreambleed.bandcamp.com/releases) and I got a message that it has been already rejected. Was it because it did not have a release yet or because they are not considered metal?

Was blacklisted for not being metal. I took a listen, pretty-riffless modern goth rock.

I already told you why the band was blacklisted. Noise/punk-based grindcore, not metal. You were not the first person to submit them; the band's output at this time has already been assessed, so there is nothing you can do other than accept the decision.

Hi, I was trying to upload a Thrash Metal band called Sathaxia (Colombia), however, it says it is already blacklisted.

They recently released their first Ep and there are photo proofs of this work. May you unblock the band from the black list in order to normally submit it?. Thanks!

I think with this new release that The Fire Sermon might be acceptable.

I submitted this back in 2012, and after a really long discussion it was deemed not predominantly metal. I still have the draft of the band and the mod notes/discussion are the most extensive I've ever seen.

Apparently it was delayed, current release date is sometime next week. The label page still has it as a pre-order.

Hello! I've tried to submit the argentinian Heavy Metal band called ''Hërpes'' which is heavy influenced by Black Sabbath, but one admin/moderator said that the band is Stoner Rock when he listened to just one song.

Here are their 2 Full Albums, so you can see they actually play Heavy Metal.

Here you can see they have actually released the albums

And here you can see a physical copy of their first album.

hmmmmm, the self-titled is a very borderline affair between hard rock, stoner rock and heavy metal. The new album sounds like it could be acceptable, but I can't find any evidence that it was properly released?

Bumping two of my posts:

Illumina A.D.
https://illumina.bandcamp.com/album/tapestry-of-lies-ep
Used to be called Illumina, which is blacklisted, but not sure whether the rejection was based on the same material. Let me rephrase my question:
If I submit this, will it be considered blacklist evasion?
Submitted.

Holotropic
https://holotropicband.bandcamp.com/
Re-requesting a re-evaluation here. There's more metal than Djent on this one.
*Whispers "BastardHead might find this interesting."*
