Those songs are, yes. But I had a listen to the other tracks from that same album, and they didn't strike me as very metallic at all. Safe to say they straddled the line between alternative rock and metal too much, and since they outnumbered the metal tracks mentioned above, they're remaining blacklisted until the band releases a less borderline album.

Now if every song on that album was like the ones you posted, yes, they would be deemed acceptable. Sadly, this isn't the case.

Returning to Dir en Grey, their first releases are most alternative rock, but since Withering to Death and The Marrow of a Bone they have been shifting to a more "metal enough" sound, and Dum Spiro Spero is a complete "metal enough" album, give it a listen. This case of evolution is the same that occurred with Soulfly in their last albums.

I have been asked to provide song samples for the submission of Maléfices (Can). Can the responsible person send me a PM with his email, and I will gladly do so. Thanks.

Otherwise is there another way to fix this? My submission was first rejected because there was no proof of a physical release. Then, I sent link (www.productionsheretiques.com) where the release is clearly available, and then I am asked to send song samples....

Can't submit Angel Grave, here's a picture of their EP and a link so you can open them up for submission.

Yeah, erh... no dice, I'm afraid. I already listened to Dum Spiro Spero in its entirety on YouTube, and while a couple songs were metallic enough on their own, the rest of the release was either borderline deathcore, or J-rock.

Sorry, but for them to be considered they'll need to release something that IS completely, undoubtedly metallic... and not an iffy, half metal/half J-rock affair.

The band was blacklisted on the grounds of not having PR. With that in mind, and the shady DIY-looking nature of the demo, I've e-mailed the band for further confirmation. If they get back to me and confirm there were demo CDs passed around, I'll remove them from the blacklist.

Must have been passed around in some way, because another user, McBeverage, tried to add Angel Grave and posted a different picture. He posted this in the previous page:

McBeverage wrote:
I as well am trying to add a band, they're called Angel Grave and they're from Indiana, US. Got the "they've been blacklisted" popup. Tried searching, and unless I'm doing something completely wrong search-wise, there are no posts about them. They just released their EP yesterday. Thanks!

"Physical Proof" -
Spoiler: show

In both cases the CD is on the same make of CD-R, however the writing utensil used is clearly different - McBev's is a purple marker and THRASHEADEREK's is a black pen or thin marker. In conclusion: The same person made these CDs and their marker ran out of ink so they had to resort to using a different one.

With that in mind, that purple marker would have had to be written on a large number of CDs before running dry and necessitating the usage of a new one.

The two users couldn't possibly be the same person. So, I don't think you'll need a response from the band since the proof more or less is already present.

Damn, I think I watch too much NCIS.

Yeah, well... only one of the releases might be fake. It's also possible they had more than one band member signing CDrs when they were being "pressed", each with a different utensil. *shrugs* Who knows... only one way to find out: and that's with a concrete answer from the band themselves.

It seems a little ridiculous to email a group of 17 year olds to ask if they actually made CDrs that are already pictured twice in this thread.
They played an EP release show Saturday where they handed out CDrs for free, each one came with a stick of gum in the case. Here's the flyer. Merry Xmas.

Well, I checked Angel Grave's Facebook, and wouldn't you know it - there's pictures there and mentions of an EP release!

Photograph
Mention of EP release

In this case, all you should've done was include the link to the band's posts that mentioned the CD... showing strictly photographic evidence isn't enough if a CDr looks blatantly DIY.

I've removed them from the blacklist, so you can resubmit. :)

EDIT: Yeah, okay, I've seen your second link too... ideally, you should've posted that first, rather than the flyer itself.

I've listened to that Mp3 you PMed me, it's fairly obvious black metal. :) You can resubmit, but please be sure to include the link in the submission notes.

Hey guys, attempted to add Alcoholicaust from Bristol, CT....was rejected due to lack of samples / proof of release. Here's the missing info:

Samples (reverbnation player / youtube clips) - http://www.facebook.com/alcoholicaust
Also at www.reverbnation.com/alcoholicaust

Proof of release - https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hp ... 3313_n.jpg

Thanks!

Guys, what you've all been posting here today should've really been included in the submission notes of a resubmission. This thread is really to discuss matters that can't be resolved with cold hard evidence... and the reason for the "fast service" is that there really isn't much to resolve here at all.

Unless a band is blacklisted, or the reasons for a rejection are complicated or ambiguous, you should really just try resubmitting instead of rushing off to the forums with your new evidence... :)

Also, I really, really hate it when another mod's already beaten me to the answer. :p

Submitted a NeoFolk/Martial Industrial band named Souverain, which has members of the band Kvaathan in it, but was rejected because it is not a metal band (obviously). However (and this is a question, not a complaint or bitching, don't worry), didn't you guys accept non-metal bands who have members of metal bands present on MA? Did this rule changed? If so, well, then sorry for trying to add this band and making someone lose his/her time.

I will ask you as well. Why didn't it say that in the submission notes? Do you actually expect us to read through every link to see which band has a release or not? If they, just write the link. It saves us time and makes it easier to verify this.

The notes say, "Released a split with Pyramido."
The link in the submission notes says it will be released in March, not that it's out.

Sloppy drafts will be more often rejected because the do not contain proper information and/or false/changed release dates.

You had the opportunity to fill in on those releases that they made and the band line up as well, but you chose to submit a pretty much empty draft, with almost no information at all.

Ah no! I did write it in the ''additional notes'' section however. I pretty much had to, since the band's full line-up is unknown, but I.K. of Kvaathan has confirmed on Kvaathan's facebook profile that he is the vocalist/song writer and played some guitars on the band's first EP.

Right there's your problem: we need the CD to already be released before we can accept your band. :) Just wait for the CDs to be pressed and we'll accept your band, okay?

Yes, resubmit. Include this https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 691&type=3 in the submission notes in case someone who didn't read this post comes across the band in the queue.

Just tried to submit Thrillhouse. Got this message 'Their FB seems to confirm this. "We are actually waiting on all the merch right now. Shirts are being made as we speak and should be available soon and the same goes for the LP. Both of which will be in armageddonshop as soon as it gets into our grubby mits."'

I suppose I should've linked to their other facebook account (which is more up to date though somewhat less official for some reason) where they talk about it being released today: http://www.facebook.com/ThrillhouseRI

It's being sold at a local (Boston/Providence) record shop. Here's a link: http://www.armageddonshop.com/search.php?artist=THRILLHOUSE.

Also they're awesome dudes! :)

The album is not out yet. The band had to be temporarily blacklisted because so many people are unable to read/comprehend the rules. When the album is out (apparently June) the band can be submitted.

Chordotomy was, once more, rejected. First time was because I did not knew, that the album must be already released to proof physical existence, but now, or rather, since yesterday, where I resubmitted the band, the album is released!

I already added a similar link in the proof of existence field, but it got ignored nevertheless?
