http://www.metal-archives.com/users/LAZBriganti added wrong dates for Vientos Nocturnos members (all from 2011 but some joined in 2012 according to the bio (Spanish is his mother tongue though) (not the 1st time he does it) + added the biography in the notes, translated word by word from Spanish.

http://www.metal-archives.com/users/Gautius seems to be experimenting. Could someone tell him to be a bit more professional and report his blunders when necessary?

This user deleted the drummer Holokhaosto (aka Caio Bildner aka Desgraçator) who recorded the demo indeed.

http://www.metal-archives.com/users/withoutmyshadow
http://www.metal-archives.com/history/v ... /id/350278

That same ol' history... A guy left the band and got all butthurt, so he asks a friend to disassociate him from such band.
* withoutshadow deleted Holokhaosto from the split's MT line-up and placed him into the RMC line-up, but it wasn't wrong at all, since Holokhaosto played with RMC and MT both on this release.

This is the same guy?

Looks like he tried whitewashing quite a bit of artist history. This is really confusing.

This is confusing to me as well.

Both photos are from the same person - Caio Bildner. Previously Igor Gieseler appeared here on the site erroneously as Evil member and other bands, but it's actually Caio Bildner. I don't know who is Igor, I don't know any release from RMC that this guy plays. But withoutmyshadow (Bruno aka Gaurhoth from Draugurz) certainly knows something and can explain it.

Anyway, I will ask for help to some people about it.

http://www.metal-archives.com/users/NoKnownName has gone discogs on these:
http://www.metal-archives.com/albums/So ... nger/13750
http://www.metal-archives.com/albums/So ... Love/13749
He seems to have stopped doing that, though, which means he understands how things work. So, could someone tell him to flag those duplicates for removal?

Andre: Warned... get back to me on that other one if you find anything else out.

Antioch: Uhm... well what's the problem here? The countries need to be removed, but NKN was one of the first regulars to help me out with the feature when it went live, we hadn't decided how to handle those yet. Hardly worthy of this thread.

Seemed like a case of breaking rules. Many of the versions he added had the same barcode and cat # and were only distinguished by the country/continent. If you're in the know, just ignore this; however, I still think there's a lot of redundancy on that page. I wasn't really negative about the guy; I just thought he had some work to do. ;)

Well I can tell you right now he isn't going to fix it, he is far too busy at the moment to contribute like he did. Just add it to the OV "to fix" list...

I'm slowly widdling down the extraneous country tags myself. You can use the advanced search to look up something like "Russia" or "Germany" in the description field. Then remove all of the examples not separating two otherwise-identical versions. Really easy points for someone @ veteran or above.

http://www.metal-archives.com/users/deadhead moves composition credits, release info, etc in the recording info field... not pw, but confusing and needless (I think) he also removes "CD-R" from version descriptions.

could/should there be a moderation warning on the 3 inches of blood page? I had to change it back from split up twice already...

I've noticed people have been going around and replacing album cover pics in discographies with ones significantly reduced in size. Almost every other band page I've come across has experienced this and it seems recent as well. The ones that have been replaced were perfectly sized, too. I've also noticed they tend to upload shittier quality pics, which range anywhere from faded to quasi-pixelated. I don't know if they're doing this because there's been an official consensus that smaller pics are ideal, or if it's because they're merely point-whoring. Personally, I think it's annoying.

A feature that automatically resizes pics of any large size (1000x1000 or beyond, for example) to a normal one (ideally 500x500 or 600x600 max) should be implemented to counter this issue. It's obvious many of us who update pages have conflicting views on what constitutes a good quality pic. I suppose this could go for band and logo pics, too.

People such as?

No, there hasn't been such a consensus.

NB. I'd like to comment, but this isn't the appropriate thread. If anyone's interested, check the "For contributors" thread. ;)

I'm sure there are more, but she's the one I came across doing this most frequently. I remember reporting her in the past over a non-related issue.

Yes, I remember reporting him myself. He's done quite a bit of damage. I guess I'll take it upon myself to reverse as much of it as I can.

Viral, can you link to any specific release entries that had their images replaced with inferior versions? I've sent gothic_metal a message to explain herself (we've had this problem with her before, along with a thousand others, patience wearing thin...), but I'd still like to have some concrete examples.

I've seen what Viral describes, too, but just shrug it off. it goes for band photos, as well: there was at least one instance I remember for Insomnium (bad mag scan replaced a perfectly fine digimage), and a much older one for In Solitude (horribly pixellated monstrosity).

sorries for barging in.

Mind you, she is making the correct updates by uploading the appropriate version covers, but they're always smaller than they need to be. I found both versions of the two releases at a preferable size:

http://s1294.photobucket.com/user/Ilias ... 0.jpg.html
http://s1294.photobucket.com/user/Ilias ... c.jpg.html

http://www.metal-archives.com/albums/Ca ... ain/430665
Even though the original for this one was kind of big, the pic she's replaced it with is not only significantly smaller, it looks shittier overall.

Again, she's got the right idea with uploading different covers for different album versions, but it's her size preference for pics that is annoying.

You seriously consider these images superior to the ones she chose?

Why not? You get a better look at them up close with these ones. Plus they were just examples of potentially better ones. I can find others if you wish.

Better look at what? The sticker that says "Back on Black?"

It's the same artwork, and we always prefer a front-on scan of the cover above all, just like we have certain preferences concerning band photos and what is/isn't a better image. These shots have glare, a bunch of background clutter, and the angle is unappealing when viewed on the otherwise streamlined album page.

If she is using this as a medium to point whore (like Mosurg was) that is one thing, but gothic_metal is a consistent other versions contributor - and part of properly filling in versions involves lots of alternate cover uploads. I'm failing to see a problem here, and judging by your response, what you consider a "better image" is not congruent with the way the site sees it.

If she replaced photos with actual front covers, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Even if the covers might not be quite the same quality as the photos. It should go without saying that you shouldn't do the reverse. We always prefer simple front covers to makeshift photography.

However, what aloof describes is definitely not okay.

Okay, fine. Fair enough. But what was her reason for changing the pic for A Skeletal Domain? It was perfectly fine and did not upload any alternate version cover either; it's the same one, but much smaller.

Looks like the artwork used for the CD pressing(s) is cropped slightly different.

Someone needs to take a look at what DeGa is doing.

He has changed the original release of Disgorge's Parallels of Infinite Torture to a reissue and has added the original release as a reissue.

He is also adding track lengths one at a time as well as modifying release data one at a time.

I don't care if you want to deduct the 10 points from a user who seems to be pretty new to the site.

But his entry on the Racer X page is pretty worthless. The "Street Lethal" album he added has to be deleted. Someone has to tell him how the adding of an album version works.
Thanks

Sent him a stern reminder. He clearly put zero effort into reading the guidelines before attempting to "contribute."

Dear moderators, please warn Inhuman Nameless not to change the title of this release from "I Shalt Become / Moloch" to "Moloch / I Shalt Become" and the tracks order. He already did it few times. I understand, that he wants to show that his shitty project is so important and cool, but you can check this report and will see the information from the owner of Locust Amber Records. Also, here is a back cover, where you can see, that this release is called "I Shalt Become / Moloch" and I Shalt Become is on the side A. Thank you.
