I recently submitted the band Absentia from Spain and it was rejected.
As it was the first time I tried to submit something, I don't know what went wrong but instead of adding their demo, I got dumped to M-A first page. Then I saw the e-mail saying that it was rejected because of lack of discography.
While I'm not sure about this, I think the band got rejected before I could submit the demo they have, but maybe it was because this demo is an unreleased one, and therefore, not valid. I got all the info from their webpage and Myspace (which also couldn't submit in time, it seems).

So my question is, should I submit this band again? Is an unreleased demo, with a webpage and a Myspace profile proof enough of their existence? Or would I be making the same mistake again?

Thanks in advance :)

Of course not, unreleased demo means that the band has no discography.
Myspace songs can only prove that a band is metal, not much more.

Read again the rules, especially rule 7.

I see Caltrop got re-accepted, funny after the previous debate and all the previous comments from moderators/users. Anyway why was Among the Infected rejected? The notification emails are not working and in fact the band sounds metal enough.

I think they might've been discussed before, but what about Skrewdriver? They started to gain significant metal influences around the late 80's, although not many know, much less care about these. I know it's borderline, but here's what's probably their most metal album:
http://rapidshare.com/files/40537452/Th ... e.zip.html
The laughably bad covers of Judas Priest and Black Sabbath are an indication of their direction at this point.

No, this is certainly not predominantly metal.
This is about as metal as The Sex Pistols, covers aside.

May I ask you to stop stretching it with punk and rac bands?
To put it this way, there is no reason to bash you solely for your musical tastes, but this site is a bad place to demostrate how broad your taste is and how accepting of other rock styles you are.

Yeah, I just had these in mind, as I always saw mention of them as metal. Skrewdriver I don't especially care for either, aside from their first album. I think Electro Hippies definitely errs on the side of thrash, but whatever...

Last thing I had in mind though was Broken Bones, Discharge splinter group by former guitarist. I noticed they're on the rejected list, but they definitely became thrash later on, around the same time Discharge made the transition to full metal. Total crossover.

If this isn't considered metal, fuck it, I'll give up on anything even remotely punk.

No websites, no will to spread the word via internet, still distributing demos underground. How to submit with valid proof? Uploading images of the releases?

- Photography of some of the releases
- scans/photographies of mailorder lists
- Scan of the cover (gives often a hint on how the band sounds)

- make a digital copy available to a moderator; rip a tape with Audacity for instance.
something like that. Convince the mods here .. the more proof you have, the better are the chances that a submission will get accepted..

Not metal.
The band was discussed alrewady several times.
You question was wrong from the start, the bands are judged individually, so no when you accept this, you must accept that also.

Emmure are death metal influenced enough, at least their debut.

hmmm truuu, but then again allot of people didnt like mettalica for fusing punk and metal

and still doesnt state the fact that emmure is 80 % more hardcore than death metal

while allot of other bands use more metal type riffs with oh so magical sweeps
and not even on here

allot of prog are labeled with hardcore, i like allot of reg prog bands though too

also dont confuse me for a person who likes atreyu and avenged sevenfold cause i hate them with a vengeance, i just like the better fusions that should stand out as metal

Ok, you are justified.

Real progressive metal has nothing to do with modern hardcore.

There can be progressive hardcore bands, but they are not metal either.
None of the modern -core bands which you have proposed will be accepted. Live with it. You can diagree, but that is the only thing you can do.

Case closed.

Your user name indicates problems in any case, since people with similar tags are usually unable to understand out conception of metal bands or are blatant trolls.

i like death metal allot like nile,
but dethcore ( example: all shall perish ) gets you more pumped with many sweeps and solos everywhere that compliment the heavy hardcore guitars and pummeling drums
death metal does that too, but the way they use the riffs is sometimes boring with overusage

death metal is like full straight on boom dada boom boom

but dethcore is like boom boom :stop: bang bang dada bang boom dada whee

This is surely a good way to get a positive response.

It may have just been overlooked, this board does not revolve around you.

I don't know what your question was, but this sort of response will get you nowhere.

is this band acceptable?

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... =202547015

they have recorded 3 songs, one available on a world-wide product (Warcraft 3 soundtrack)

the band members are Blizzard Entertainment employees, for example the singer is the Art Director for Blizzard

their musical style is thrash/ power/heavy metal

The funny thing is that if there was a Punk version of MA, a lot of these bands that get rejected for being "Too Hardcore based" would get rejected for being "Too Metal based".

I've deleted Axminster: Party Hard Rock ala Great White, Black n' Blue and Cindarella with some Swing influences. They released a full album in 1985 (some sources claim it was released in 1989):

Submission plus report for Black Anvil

This band has not been approved yet.

June 26th, 2008
Posted at 13:19

ive been denied before, trying to add my band "Black Anvil" to your page. i believe due to the fact that there wasnt a "physical" demo, we had it for free download on our myspace page, our record is in production as we speak, cd/lp, and we've already played a handful of shows with W.A.S.P., Mortician, Possessed, At War.. have a show in Sept with Watain. we're new, but fully active. just wanted to give you a little more info on us. hopefully it is enough. if not, we'll check back soon i suppose.
thank you.

I am posting it here mainly, so the musicians know how the system is...

I've had plenty of suggestions rejected but this one is just plain unreasonable. The Naut were rejected because of "an apparent lack of discography but here it is here (it has been put for free download purely because all the CDs are long sold out)

http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea ... =373635626

there's the blog of Slomatics (featuring ex-The Naut members) with the link. Also here's the video for an unreleased track;

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=viUJWx1ker0

Just to let you know they'll be duly re-submitted.

You did not include such direct link to Cd info in your submission, so do not wonder.
I do not have psychic powers to see that it is in the blog of other band, even when that one is personally related.
Bands, that have only link to upload sites as a proof, will get mostly rejected.
