I would like to know why my report to change Nightly Gale to Experimental Doom Metal was rejected. I just think leaving it simply as Doom Metal would be vague and misleading, because the music sounds like some type of weird, avant-garde, melodic death/doom. My apologies if I'm being over-analytical, I'd just like to hear some feedback.

I felt that "Experimental Doom Metal" was a little overkill, at least judging from the song you sent. Perhaps the discussion here will lead to a different judgement.

Brutish Creation should probably have " / Grindcore" appended to their genre... Listen to this and try telling me it's regular, run-of-the-mill thrash:

Swamp Witch aren't pure doom metal; their music is pretty sludgy:

http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Swa ... 3540333998

Listen to the tracks their SoundCloud (or download the Gnosis EP from Mediafire). You'll see that "Sludge/Doom Metal" is probably a better description.

Thanks. :D And BTW, I could've sworn I searched the band queue for "Swamp Witch" and found no results. :( Can't for the life of me figure out how I missed it.

Ah well, glad to have helped contribute some missing information at least. :D

I would have accepted your submission as it was far more complete, but it would've been unfair for the other user.

The Old Silver Key that was accepted has "Black Metal/" in its genre:

http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Old ... 3540331225

Look, I know it probably makes sense given the members of Drudkh, but there's really 0% black metal influence in the music at all:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIUw0-DqCws

Safer (and not misleading) to simply pin the genre as "Post-Rock".

That's the most abrupt sampler I've ever heard, haha. I agree, there's no black metal at all, not even close. Sounds awesome, by the way.

Eletronics of some sort. It does belong to the band discography; I have a mail from the band to confirm this.

I feel that Beneath the Massacre should be listed as, "Technical Brutal Death Metal/Deathcore."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyApTqjIk8U
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDuMs1t4ql4

Clearly the band has technical deathcore leanings but they also clearly have brutal death metal leanings as well.

As the slam connoisseur around here, I'd just like to throw in my two cents and say that Beneath the Massacre don't really sound like a brutal death metal band at all. No slams, no guttural vocals, no chugged riffs accentuated with pinch harmonics...

No brutal death leanings, sorry. "Technical Death Metal/Deathcore" is by far the most accurate; they're not technical deathcore in the TAIM sense, but they're sure as hell not pure death metal either, let alone BDM.

As already discussed via PM, changing this would require a better suggestion instead of simply questioning the existing genre. And that goes for all of these: simply saying that the existing genre is wrong is not a solution, it's a problem. If you know the genre is wrong, why don't you, you know, give us a suggestion on what the correct genre would be? If you know there's a band with the wrong tag, you must surely have a suggestion on how to correct it, right?

In Riippakivi's case, I based the genre tag on the two tracks I found on MySpace and heard from the demo. Other, internet-only MP3 tracks should not play a part in the genre definition, they are outside the official discography. Plenty of one-demo bands have other tracks available, but in my very humble opinion, only the officially released stuff should count in this.

I've changed the genre of Härsken and Vowels. As for Occulta Struttura, I read the review, but would really feel better with some song samples.

Why is the band Eviscium (http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Eviscium/14550) labeled brutal death metal? There's no characteristics of it in their music at all (no slam/breakdown bullshit, no pig vocals, etc.). It's pure old school death metal (thus, their genre should be changed to just death metal). It consisting of members from Rottrevore and Derkéta also solidifies my point further. Here's some songs:

Because they sound like goregrind and the guy who submitted the band was too much of an idiot to know the difference between the two.

Where's the goregrind in their sound? They sound like Rottrevore but with a more updated production. Here's some Rottrevore:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0NpWf5V5zg

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQJFsAhFOWE

Now compare that with Eviscium and tell me it's different. There might a little more blasting going on in Eviscium's sound, but it's essentially the same.

Antim Grahan
http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Antim_Grahan/43294
http://bikramkawan.com.np/antim-grahan- ... -download/

Symphonic Black Metal (early); Black / Death Metal (now)

The music has also hints of grindcore in it, but I am uncertain whether they appear on too large a degree as to make it necessary to mention it in the genre field.

Eviscium is still mislabeled? Come on, we need better authorities on genre categorization in this thread.

Shadow of the Torturer (http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Sha ... 3540293338) is labeled as sludge/doom when they are actually death/doom in the vein of Winter (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bi2REgByOqs) with a slight melancholic edge. A bit of Autopsy-ish sludge is present but not enough to constitute it being sludge/doom. Please change this.

Is DevilDriver already on this topic? If not, why are they labeled as "mallcore"? I haven't listened to their debut album, but The Fury of Our Maker's Hand is very groove metal-oriented.

Can someone put a link for DevilDriver being labeled as "mallcore"?

Should be:
"Depressive Black Metal (early), Post-Black Metal (later)"

http://www.metal-archives.com/report/view/id/349112
http://www.metal-archives.com/report/view/id/348445

Feel free to debate the first, but it's clear that the second is accurate:

Thrashcore is simply another name for "fastcore"; fast, thrashy hardcore punk with thrash metal influences. Similar to crossover and thrash.

As far as I know only the first one is correct. It's a faster version of hardcore punk, but not quite grindcore. I don't think it has much to do with thrash metal or metal at all. Certainly not what that band plays, changed. I hate it when it gets used for thrash metal/metalcore bands.
