Is adding a note to an album saying it's out of print legit?

No, not important, in some cases not varifiable and the situation can change easily.

You can still get ait at least in second hand stores.

I was being more specifically Polluted Inheritance's "Ecocide", btw which has been out of print for at least a decade.

I'd believe the majority of our users would understand that a death metal record from 92 would generally be out of print now, so I don't really see the point.

The inverse of that is useful, though - I love reading about various kinds of reissues and the differences between them. If there is no info on any, I assume the album is now out of print (unless it's a release by Earache or something).

Usually when I noticed an "album is out-of-print" bit in the additional notes, I remove it while editing other stuff.
