I have bought a demo of a metal band at ebay, yet on the tape is no release date mentioned and the band has also not been added to the MA so far. Of what do I have to take care, when adding the band and the release to the MA? This occurs now on three tapes till now...

You need to know the Origin of the band and in the Additional notes you add the Demo tracks with a note that the year is unknown:
<Demo title> [Unknown year]
<tracks>

I have this data... but I wanted t know if this problem can be solved different to what that you have described above. I am aware of THIS kind of solution.

It would be nice if there were an alternate solution (i.e. being able to add releases with unknown release dates like you can discogs.com). I can also see how this could become a problem.

If you don't know the date, just add it to the band's additional notes.
