Could a single track (or few tracks) put on website and forums for free downloading be considered as a FORMAL demo? Obviously no, I think. Also, I beg moderators be more careful to accept bands with obscure "demos". These demos are without a good tracklisting, always some "untitled", and without cover art. I wonder how you can verify the existence of these demos and bands? Any faggot can create such band, claiming that the band has been long forgotten and little information could be traced. Then he can also create a demo of untitled tracks and submit it here.

Anyway, when I submit an obscure band, for example, Nothern Blaze from China, I will first make sure that they are metal, then get a demo, photograph it, submit it here with the cover art and as much info as possible. Yes, the cover art is a powerful proof of a demo's existence. So I suggest, when users want send a "long forgotten" band, why not just take a photo? It is not so boring or time-wasting.

So here i want point out some bands with can't-be-verified demos:
1.Overtune M. China Let's analyse the so-called demo
http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=88507
First track, Industrial Time (工业时代 in Chinese) only appeared on So Rock! magazine Sep 2005. Second track, Grave of Hope (希望的坟墓) and third Loud Sound From The Abyss (深渊的回响), free downloading nearly everywhere in Chinese music website.
Also according to Mort Production, the band English name is "Ego Fall Band". (http://www.mort-prod.com/band/dfm/dfm.htm) They have not released anything actualy. Hereby this band should be deleted.

2.Explosicum (爆浆) from China
http://metal-archives.com/band.php?id=90184
the demo features 4 untitled tracks, no cover art, no info on google. But they seem to record something... Can't be sure whether this demo exist or not.

The word demo is quite confusing in Chinese music scene. yeah, when a undergroud band record a songby themselves and put it on website or forum, people call the song "DEMO"! I've been frustrated with this naming. It might confuse foreigners since such "demos" can never be available on CDs, tapes.

Some other band with the problem:
3.Painful Memories from Russia.
http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=61992
The "Demo 1997", no art, no tracklist, no info. Totally unknown.

4.Reido (by the way, they have a Chinese name, 零度, aha!) from Belarus.
http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=55081
The single "Detect Memory", only for free downloading on band's web. Worth deleting.

5.Thurisaz from Belgium. Demo "The Last Embrace" was under the name Modilium. Since we can find Modilium, this demo should be moved to Modilium's page.

6.Harlej from Czech
http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=48069
. 1993 demo "Aj mena ou bejby hel", a strange demo. A full-length with same name in 1995 is also listed. Can't find any info about the first one. The demo isn't on band's official web.

sometimes obscure demos are taken from distros, zines, auctions (like ebay) and cover photo is impossible :P

3, 4, 6 - "Report a mistake on this page"
1, 2 - "Cleansing the archives, a.k.a. WHY WAS BAND X ACCEPTED?!?!"
5 - "Add a band" and "Report a mistake on this page"
:P

Or you hear about from someone you know and trust, but haven't got the possibility to go there and photograph it.

Which doesn't mean a thing. Lots of bands, especially after getting a deal refuse to list their demos. They don't view them as real albums or something.

The big problem about demos, especially about old ones that you download, is to know which of them were intended to reach an audience or which were just promos to get a label interested.

Except for the two first bands, you could report all this. First band deleted, not sure about the second one, web demo deleted, Harlej demo exists in physical form at least, cover is from official release-deleted by me.
