^I can think of a couple more examples of that. Purtenance Avulsion/Purtenance, River's Edge/Expulsion, Dominion/Demonicon, etc. Usually when I see something like that I try to submit a separate page for the former band name, but only when I have sufficient info like logo, detailed line-up, etc.

By the way, somebody made a separate page for the pre-Sorath (US) band Abaddon; only they incorrectly spelled the name as "Abbadon". I know I reported it a while back (2-3 months ago), but it might have been on one of those days when the servers were barely working...

Well I'm OK to accept those double entries only if we have enough info, that means we can add a logo or a photo + demo covers, line-up etc but just to have a double entry with an empty page is for me totally useless

This topic is now a sticky, all similar questions belong here. Hope Warmachine doesn't mind me changing his topic title, and thanks to Nightgaunt for teaching me how to do it. :boo:

Concerning bands that changed names, the database treats 'em as two different entries, which means each one must meet the individual requirements to be accepted, just like any other band (being metal, having released something). So yeah, it's OK to add 'em both, now ask something different for a change!

^You're right, my mistake. I wasn't trying to sound like I was upset because it was taking a while, it just genuinely seemed like 2-3 months to me. Probably because I'm on this site every day.

Thanks for correcting it anyway...

Hi, I think one of these band-"s" should be deleted:

http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=30256
http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=53108

Wrath (Ger) and Wrath (RSA) are the same band (I reported it, but I was ignored.) The band was formed in Cape Town and now resides in Germany. There is no reason to consider them as two bands. (Then there could be two Falkenbachs, two Nightrages etc.)

A Perfect Murder - just enter their website and you'll hear why.
Wrath - fixed.

Does someone know (especially finnish metallers) if this band really exists

http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=40092

Azarok

maniac666's own band

What I find strange is that he recently submitted 2 old demos (rehearsal 2002 and 1st demo) (check the ID: 102730..)

Damn If I was submitting my own band I'd submit the releases in a chronological order and not some older ones months after the band is accepted ..

I saw that there are some mp3 on Mikseri but I have a lot of doubts (maybe i'm wrong...)

ps: i got once a report telling that the band is a fake and that this guy is a "poser"..

I don't know whether my reports have been reviewed and discarded or not been looked at at all. If they have been rejected, could someone please explain me why Artesia still are listed as metal?

if you report a band as not being metal then the moderators will have to check into that which may take time.

i heard one of the mp3s of that band when they were in the queue and they sounded metal enough to me

Some time ago I added the finish band Hammer of Justice. They have released the two demos that are on their profile page. The band has now changed name to Unrefined and someone has added that band with the two mentioned Hammer of Justice demos, but Unrefined has not released anything yet with that name. So I guess Unrefined should be removed from the archives untill they release something under that banner, right?

The band has been submitted by one of the 2 members... and if they judge it metal enough to be here, I guess they are right ...

I listened mp3 too and it sounds metal to me

When a demo is releaded under the new name, create an entry for the band ;)

The band does exist as the guy is even selling his demo. As I am registered at Mikseri.net I can see his express messages (or whatever I should call them) where people are buying his demos.

What about Throne of Chaos that changed their name to TOC? I have reported a few times that their name was TOC when they released their last album "Loss Angeles" and that in my opinion the name in the database should therefore be TOC. As nothing was done to this, I understood that the band should be added again as TOC, but it was then rejected for being already in the database. I have different band photo and logo for Throne of Chaos and TOC.

What about Violet Halo (formerly Kainin Lapset) then? KL played Black/Heavy/Thrash Metal with Finnish lyrics while VH plays Heavy Metal with harsh vocals and English lyrics. The members used different names in KL and it is not even known which members were in both bands. So can I add the band again as Kainin Lapset or will it get rejected for being already in the database?

Grindead (earlier known as Murha) then. They have released two demos, both under the name Murha. So shouldn't the band be called Murha in the database and added again as Grindead when they release something under the new name or what?

Offtopic, but these just came to my mind when helvede mentioned about this Hammer of Justice thing...

And then to the topic: As far as I know, Sudenheimo haven't released anything. They have a demo/album coming, but it is not out yet. Someone added it with a tracklist that was just the list of the lyrics available at their site in alphabetical order, but I reported about that and the release was deleted. But the band is still in the database...

Vacca, I would say Throne of Chaos and TOC are just alternate spellings, like DBC and Dead Brain Cells. Kainin Lapset, on other hand, should have a separate entry.
The other bands you mentioned are fixed.

Well, the band really changed their name to TOC, because they felt the name Throne of Chaos did not fit to their current style as it sounded like a name of some black metal band. I would say that this is a different thing than DBC. They used the same "DBC" logo on their every album while Throne of Chaos had first a logo with the text "Throne of Chaos" and then a logo with the text "TOC".

After all, have it your way. Of course, the most important thing is that the band can be found whether you use "Throne of Chaos" or "TOC" as a keyword.

Is it just coincidence that the name of one of the guys in that band is very similar to a German slang word for someone who talks a lot of useless stuff?

They shouldn't have been nuked. They sound like that other 2nd rate Exhorder rip-off band we have on here on their last album. I would like to know if the mod who deleted them actually listened to them, or if they just went 'A PERFECT MURDERZ0R?!?! O NOES! DELETE LOL!'

Also, keep in mind i'm the most zealous ___core hunter here.

Wasn't me. I saw they were on here, went "WTF?" clicked on the link. However when I saw it was the Clansman who last updated the page *at the time I clicked* I knew that band was acceptable.

When it comes to core I've learned not to argue with Clans.

I couldn't agree more with ya... finally someone see's them as I do.

Well, Nightgaunt deleted them once I mentioned them in another thread.

On that topic, should a band like Cannae be added then because, despite being metalcore, they're a very metallic band today with huge metal influence in their new album.

"a total acoustic album"

its just neofolk with no metal elements at all. they're just signed to a predominantly metal label (sonnenvolf/stellar winter).

It's a bit off-topic, but a mod should add the Immortal Live B.B. King DVD to their release list. It's available as a stand-alone one version in a slipcase (without the Sons... CD). See here: http://shop.nuclearblast.de/details.php ... lnr=131817

is it possible for a moderator to stop links from being added? adding releases can be locked but can the same thing be done for links? because hundreds of shitty worthless links are added all the time. they aren't necessary. if i wanted to buy master of puppets i wouldn't consult metalarchives for a distro, thats only necessary for lesser-known bands. And all the links to myrrnnthronth, metalstorm, wikipedia and 90% of other "fan sites" are completly pointless. in fact, the moderators at metal storm (and presumeably most other sites) said that they get their info from here!

cleaning up the links section is pretty pointless at the moment because they all re-appear there again soon after. the links section to a good deal of bands should be locked and then it might be worth going through the liniks there, and seeing what is useful and what is not.

Yeah, weren't they on the rejected bands list?

I'm going to hold off on rejecting them, maybe Clanny accepted them.
