Hello.

I was thinking and I think there are a couple of things that would be useful to add to the albums.

First, alternate names for albums.

Some albums have alternative names, such as Metallica's self-titled album also known as "The Black Album". And in addition to albums that have Roman numerals in their names (such as Graveyard Classics IV, which can also be written as Graveyard Classics 4).

The second thing, additional notes for songs.

Some songs may have some certain purpose, meaning or something similar, it would be useful to add a field where you can write an additional note to that song and when you pass the mouse over it further note appears.

Third and last thing, unknown label.

There is not much information of some albums, some were released by a record label but do not know which, so it should be a way to put the record label as unknown.

Alternate names? Notes for songs?

Absolutely not, this will just result in users adding a bunch of conjecture and useless "trivia" that extends beyond the scope of the ste's purpose.

The last suggestion makes even less sense.

All this info seems like things that can be mentioned in the albums "additional notes" tab. Though I guess it could help searching for albums if it was possible to redirect stuff like Graveyard Classics 4 to Graveyard Classics IV.

There's also examples like Biohazard - The Underground Years and Trouble - Psalm 9, which are both re-titled versions of albums which were previously self-titled.

Biohazard isn't even in MA, dude. Why even mentioning them?

Probably because I was listening to that very CD when I wrote that post  It was more of a general example, not a specific reference to anything on the site.

There's other examples too, like the obvious one being Judas Priest - Hell Bent For Leather as the alternate title of Killing Machine, and Atrocity's Todessehnsucht/Longing For Death. It's probably not a bad idea to have an alternate title field, if only for users doing specific album searches. The Trouble one in particular only brings up the 2-for-1 reissue of Psalm 9/The Skull when "Psalm 9" is entered into title search, even though that's been the album's official title on all post-1990 reissues.

Albums released under two different names can have separate listings linked to the same parent album

Yeah but the the alternate title won't come up in album search, maybe it needs to be linked to them somehow.

Sorry for responding to an old thread, but:

?

I guess it applies to Psalm 69 but is it really an actual title of a version of the album, rather than what it's commonly called (like "the black album" is)? If it's the title of re-issues that should be written like that on the re-release versions, then.
