Connecting with Michel Foucault's theory of discursive power, well, I think Metal Archives is creating the dominant discourse of what to call and what not to call heavy metal (and also, what to call and what not to call good heavy metal). Power is discourse, power is knowledge, after all. However, also assuming that there is no such thing as absolute truth, and that the apparent truth is only the subjective interpretation of human beings. Do you think that in near or distant future, the conception of heavy metal for Metal Archives will change and will get broader?

Just take example would be of Suffocation who were considered as black sheep in the early 90s death metal community, and now people are hailing them as an old school band. Reflecting on this, some 20 years down the line, can those metalcore, mathcore and nu metal bands that MA rejects now get place in this website? Thoughts?

This sounds like a pretentious and try hard version of the usual "MA SHOULD ACCEPT ____ AND _____!"

Nothing is static, of course but our guidelnes are solid enough not to drastically change. No mods will be like "Eh, finally Korn were totally metal" in 10 years.
