This isn't a suggestion nor a complaint, just a question. I'm talking about the "Posts: 123" counter below the username. Does it fulfil any purpose other than foster elitism, and to encourage people to write meaningless posts just to inflate their post count? Many forums have done away with this traditional "feature" and I've seen nothing but improvements so far.

I'm aware that this post may come off as biased due to my low post count, but I'm genuinely curious, and I'd like to spark a discussion if possible.

The reasoning behind it is that it's a counter that goes up by one whenever a person makes a post on the forum. It is also a direct measure of eliteness.

It literally tells you the the guy above me has told more people than I have exactly how inane their posts are.
