I can see why this was rejected. First, it's a raw demo. I understand that considering the genre that's probably very much the intention and this is where things can get dicey with the guidelines regarding digital-only releases (i.e. the part about professionalism). I would probably be okay with it still, but, more importantly, the second half is the same as the first, just a different (rough) recording session. So what you have here is a compilation of demo recordings, with the original material amounting to two songs. Not acceptable as a digital release.

I see there are still a couple of open inquiries on the last page. Lest anyone bump them, let me say that I will try to get to them in due time.

It's a physical release, doesn't matter if it's the same songs. It's just a demo. Since it was rejected there's been a couple bands with no discography that have been added. The quality of the recordings was intentional as well. Its black metal of course. It's more of a single than a proper demo I suppose, but it is still a release that we are circulating. We have more releases coming up but it would be a shame to have to wait that long to get on here since we are very much active.

We mainly want to get on here to ensure our name won't be used by someone else because no other bands share the name yet.

Here's one:

And what evidence of the tape do you want? We are exclusively selling these in person for now. Do you just want a picture of it?

A photo of some copies would be ideal, yes.

The band you linked has a physical release, it's mentioned in the notes.

Hello!

Tried to submit a band called Zombie Rodeo (Finland) but got a message that it was already blacklisted. Probably as the music has been much more rock than metal in the earlier years of its existence and totally understandable regarding the rules. Or was there any other reason for being blacklisted? Just curious.

The music now days is still somewhat rock orientated but with a more metal touch to it. The new material can be heard at https://zombierodeo.bandcamp.com/album/cult-leader

So how about it, possible to have ZR added to the Metal Archives?

Bstrg,
Mikko M.

Whitelisted.

My submission C.B.A. ( http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/C.B.A./3540417416 ) was rejected because the band is considered to be a crossover/crust band. The band itself defines itself as Swedish-style death metal, heavily inspired by Sodom and Venom, albeit with d-beat and punk influences. Although I would actually say they pretty much sound like Impaled Nazarene:

https://cbacrimsonguard.bandcamp.com/tr ... phy-hunter

This sounds nothing like crust bands like Driller Killer, Amebix, Antisect, ...

I hope you will reconsider.

I remember another mod and I agreed that the punk portion was predominant.

Thanks all, and hope someone realises this IS a metal band.

I agree with the mod who rejected it. Quite light on actual riffs, the ambience seems to be the focus.

Some links to make you judge if metaliness in their music is enough:

Still more shoegaze than metal.

I recently added the German Band Arsillus (http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Arillus/3540419523) and it was accepted but there is a small issue: The project started as Forseti and released one Demo and two albums under this name - there are complete downloads on the official Arillus page and I can also provide pictures of my version of one of the albums. Unfortunately Forseti is blacklisted and I am pretty sure that this is because of the German Neofolk band forseti, which is of course not metal enough. Is there a work-around for issues like this?

Seems it's another band, yeah. Temporarily whitelisted, please submit.

Hello!

I submited the brazilian thrash metal band Furia V8 (http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Furia_V8/3540419525), but it was rejected due to no download available for their release. One can download all songs from soundcloud (https://soundcloud.com/furiav8/), though.

I hope you reconsider it.

Thanks a lot and best regards!

Heavy southern rock with some metal riffs and really heavy parts, but still largely rock.

Having been listening to them a bit over the last week I'm at a bit of a loss as to why Tool aren't on the Archives - I personally think there's quite a strong metallic element to their sound.

Blacklist note for Tool is pretty much useless, but I'm sure it has been discussed multiple times and decided that they are borderline and don't belong.

Fair enough. I'm sure they were probably brought up earlier in this thread, but I didn't want to trawl through 415 pages to find an answer, so just decided to ask.

The gist is that they are somewhat metallic, but mainly heavy prog rock/modern hard rock.

And you don't have to look through all the pages manually, there's a search function: search.php (though I guess with a name like that it's a bit of a bitch to search)

Hi there,

Just wondering why my old band, Painted Rust, was black listed. We were a death metal band that released one EP in 2010. I have proof of the physical CD as well.

Thanks!

That seems inaccurate to me. The songs on the Bandcamp sound like Formulas-era Morbid Angel with a bit of Gorguts-styled noise rock. Definitely predominantly death metal IMO, I think it deserves another look.

Sounds like what felt like half the death metal bands in the late 90s.

I reminded me of what a lot of metalcore bands were doing in the mid to late 90's that weren't AtG worship.

Just a note - but as regular users - please refrain from commenting on bands brought up in this thread.

The only discussion in this thread should be between the user bringing up the band and the mods.

The only reason I did that is because if dystrophy666 had never come back to the thread, the conversation would've ended right there with a blacklist note citation and the band would've never been reevaluated. I've added a couple bands throughout the years that were brought up in this thread but not thoroughly investigated because the OP never came back; I would never do that in a case where a moderator's already listened to a band and cast judgment. I think my post in this thread is just as valid a "why is this blacklisted?" post as any.

I appreciate the review Azmodes. We were defintely going for a Morbid Angel / Human Remains vibe with the band. Should I re-submit the band through the normal channel?

I'm not sure whether Jerusalem (UK) should be blacklisted. Many of the songs off their debut could be described as NWOBHM-flavoured Deep Purplesque proto-metal. I think this album sounds more metallic than let's say Buffalo from Australia.

Some examples:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6t6QNgf7JfI - sort of proto-NWOBHM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QclSTWfJrk - Sabbathian doom riffage
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72qeUcI_2Yo - this is more of a ballad but definitely with metal feel
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbU5MwOpADw - again NWOBHMish
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RtSENo2UUw - see above
