It was previously on the archives and Witcher deleted it a few years ago under the condition that it was a cover band without consulting anyone else.

Shouldn't they still be removed on that basis, or are covers bands acceptable now?

X-Mas Project were deleted with the justification that they're a cover band. Seeing that they basically metallize traditional/public domain Christmas songs, they are okay, though, not to mention -IMO- a noteworthy inclusion.

That's cool. Just so we're clear, if another metal band were to exclusively cover songs in the public domain, would they be considered acceptable?

In theory, yes, but we'd still like to take a good look at the band before automatically giving it the thumbs up.

On which grounds was the band Parakaleín (http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Par ... 5403709659 accepted ?

It was accepted today with a demo said to have been released the third of October. In the additional notes it is said that the the demo had been "Recorded from tape to tape in Dagothars Studio 2004", the release date of the said demo is however, marked as October 2013. on the band's FB page, there is a link to two songs on youtube, as well as a mediafire link to the whole demo. Nowhere is there evidence that the said demo was release in anyways before being shared on FB.

Still on the demo´s additional notes it is said that the demo was :

"Mixed by Prodigal Son in Cryptic Embrace 2013.
Released as a CD-R demo in October 2013."

However, just by looking at the band's FB page one sees the following comment on one message:

"Nice, the cover art and printing on the cd's is done,
now i'm just waiting for the songs to be fixed and mixed by
my metalbuddy in UK."

Date: today.

Obviously, the demo hasn't yet been mixed. No Cover art or picture of Cdr can be found anywhere.

Again, why was the band accepted then ?

Because one tired mod was running low on energy at one early hour of the morning and misread a Facebook post. Band gone; user/band member receiving a notice in short succession.

Ok, I didn't want to criticize but again, considering that Imperial Guards have been rejected for the same exact reason, I just wanted to avoid setting a double standard .).

The band will be up in a few days/weeks anyway when they got their Cdr.

According to an update made by Torquia, Argentinian band Vietnam's LP was never released. If that's true, bye bye. May wanna ask for his input on the matter.

EDIT: Also Encircle, sometimes vaguely prog-metallic djent/math stuff.

Brazen Bull: http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Bra ... 3540272471
http://brazenbull.bandcamp.com/

Daughters-type noisecore/mathcore to varying degrees. Full-length has essentially 0 metal and their first EP has touches of metal but I wouldn't say it's predominant there either. These guys probably need to be flushed.

EDIT: And another mathcore band that slipped through as "Technical Grindcore/Death Metal": http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Des ... oyer/78650
https://myspace.com/destroyerdestroyer

Some parts of it are kind of metal, most of it sounds like The Number Twelve Looks Like You. That there was a time when the userbase was confused enough about "death metal" to hear it in this band's music is legitimately unnerving.

EDIT AGAIN: One more: http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Bed ... ony/114986
https://myspace.com/bedlamofcacophony

A bit more borderline I guess as there are definitely pieces of metal in Bedlam of Cacophony's music, but I get the feeling that they're just an additional part of the band's repertoire of mathcore rather than being the basis of the music themselves. Worth a genre change, at the very least.

Just a question, does someone have more of their releases? All I've heard so far sounds like the track on their bandcamp: http://mhnunrrn.bandcamp.com/

The first 2 splits are metal (the only releases the band had when I submitted them 3 years ago). I have few of his later releases which are noise, but I haven't listened to the whole discography.

I have to say it's incredibly gratifying to finally see Lucifer's Friend and Flower Travellin' Band back on here after years of their inexplicable deletion (seriously, any reason? utter nonsense). It's good to know historical revisionism hasn't become the clerical norm (today at least)

Also somewhat surprising to see Böhse Onkelz after so long, but I guess someone actually went and listened after seeing those years signed to Metal Enterprises.

In a sentence: Witcher misunderstanding the criteria for selected quasi-proto-metal exceptions and deleting them without consulting other moderators.

Well, it's less misunderstanding something and more him enforcing his own point of view for these bands, ignoring the fact that they obviously come with some more complex considerations, be it their in- or exclusion. Then silently deleting them without the due discussion process.

Quite a few bands that fell victim to this have since been restored again, "proto-metal" or otherwise. Unfortunately the past actions of a lone mod have come to be interpreted as general site policy over time. Then again, for quite some time Witcher's motto and (effective status quo) was "Le band queue, c'est moi!".

Durandal1717 wrote:

It was chance, really. I'd long known the band (they are quite (in)famous around here after all), if only from a few songs; not really a fan, thought them to be punk/deutschrock. Only a few days ago did someone post a supposedly metal track in a chatroom. I decided to check the entire album ("Kneipenterroristen"; later also "Es ist soweit") and it's undeniably heavy metal. So they got added, simple as that. We had quite an influx of outraged reports demanding deletion for a few days (someone also threw a cute tantrum in the site's official IRC channel), but as soon as it vanished from the "latest additions" on the main site those died down.

As for how long it took... well, I'd say they aren't very well-known outside the German-speaking countries, add to that that they had been blacklisted (guess by whom) for a long time.

Deleted Carved in Stone. Not metal and its inclusion as a side-project was very random, doesn't meet the criteria for notability.

EDIT: Same for

Neantiel
Morton

Deleted Mixophagia. Not quite sure what this is, but death metal it's not. More like someone having a very vague idea about it, trying to play it and failing horribly.
