The old geezer is a bit tired now, I'll leave the rest for tomorrow; I expect 30 more, at least. If anyone else wishes to work on the queue, feel free to do so, there's been plenty of work this week.

I think I've beaten my own record in both written reviews and processed reviews within a week. That in addition to a felling a rather problematic and largish tree, a two-day education camp, a business trip, and five full days at work really drains an old man. :)

I'll have a glass of Lagavulin tomorrow for this.

Well, I just submitted a review for The Scourger's Dark Invitation to Armageddon, which I highly recommend. I might be able to crank out another review, but I'm afraid that some of the reviews I've been preparing to write will have to wait until after the challenge is over. It's too bad because I've got a number of virgins that I've been listening to, of late.

Whoa, that's pretty cool. I've never been on this board to find this thread until today, the day I submit my first review for a virgin, second review ever. I wish I would have found this earlier...

I didn't realize I was scheduled to go on a family outing over this weekend, and since it just so happened to be Thanksgiving here in the US, that made being able to complete the additional reviews more than a little challenging.

It's a bit of a bummer, because the two I wrote were extremely fun to write, especially since there was the overarching feel from the challenge going on, but I was physically unable to write more.

Oh well, time to take heart in knowing that there will be other challenges along the road!

I'm tossing in the towel. I just wrote and submitted number ten, that's four more than my previous record. Suck my diiiick!!! :hyper:

Pretty good for a guy that's can't talk or inhale properly, has been working full time, writing a research paper, and trying to see a cluster of family and friends before the goddamn holiday ended.

Finished up with five, and now I'm out of writing juices for a while. Three more than last time which is fairly good for someone as lazy as me. And I got my first 8-pointer for the last one that I submitted, so a good way to finish up. Well done to everyone on breaking a few more virgins in. Time to go watch Australia clean up New Zealand's tail.

*Exhales* Finally submitted the last of them that I've been working on. Hopefully, they went through before the end of the time limit. Ha, I don't think I'll be able to submit that many in another challenge again though, that was a lot of work.

I had to quit, there was nothing else I could review that was above 80%, and I didn't feel like I could stand reviewing anything else mediocre.

I've almost spent my mind, I think I may try to squeeze in a review of Dokken's "Dysfunctional" in the last 20 minutes here, but I knew well before this day started that I was yet again going to fall short of my record, although I think I got a little closer this time than I did last time.

Poor showing from me this time, owing to work and then illness during my short time off. DAMN YOU, CRUEL FATE! Well, that just means more stuff I can do for next time. :)

I'm happy with my input. I consider an infinity percent increase pretty substantial. LOL

I didn't write anywhere near as many as I hoped I would today, so I'm disappointed in myself. My mind was just spent though after Saturdays events. I'll aim for 50 next time round.

I submitted Dysfunctional literally 2 seconds after the clock on my computer hit midnight. Somehow I don't think I made it before the turn over, but regardless I've pretty well outdone myself for today. I think I put up 20 reviews in one day.

I got in the relatively low number of 14 out of the 22 or so reviewable things I had, which is alot better than my half-effort of last time which has a result of 3 reviews.

Yep, just as I feared, the Dysfunctional review didn't quite make it in on time. Oh well, I was still a good 10 reviews short of breaking my old record even if that one counted.

Damn site was down for the three days (for me, it seems like other people got it to work... maybe I'm unlucky) before I left for my trip, so I only got around to one. Good thing since the only other review I'd started at all had already been done by Sean16.

Same. I beat my last record of one, so that's not bad.

It is getting harder and harder with the large amount of reviews written in each competition to beat the last record...

Sean16 ..... I heard your call and did a piece on ZBT. Either my ears have changed or his music ... damn...

Everything is clean now. Sean, go for the kill!

I think the final result will be about 350, give or take some. And there have been just two submissions since the site's midnight, so I think we have a little bit of hangover here. :P

Yeah, and one of those was me submitting a last review about 8 seconds too late to make the closing buzzer. If I count that one I did 19 reviews on Sunday, and I've got the computer head right now to prove it. I think I ease off for a little while until my sense of reality comes back.

I'd say that doing two reviews for my first challenge is pretty good. it'll be easy to top next time around.

Here it is, this new monument to the MA reviewers. The Challenge has really become an institution now, and I can’t really imagine it fading out at least in a near future. A thousand thanks to everyone involved, and again, particular thanks to all the new reviewers (I’m saying reviewers, not members, e.g. Misainzig or Catachthonian) who cared for posting in this thread and submitting reviews for not-so-well-known albums. Every beginner should follow their example!

Let’s not forget the veterans though:

- the infamous threesome I won’t bother mentioning again. See the individual list for details (following in something like half an hour or a bit more, I’m hungry and ain’t lucky enough to have some delicious woman to do the cooking for me),

- Byrgan, originator of the MA Reviews Challenge, and still an over-solid contributor ,

- Our wonderful webmasters Hellblazer and Morrigan, first for having made everything possible in the first place, then to have quickly dealt with all the bugs which threatened the present edition,

- The inimitable Napero which, I’m sure, would literally give his life, and maybe even his sauna, for the Challenge; with him, all the mods which helped him to clean the queue and chop his embarrassing tree,

- Nightgaunt, because you’d better always thank Nightgaunt,

- Everyone else who participated, even by writing only one review. Together we’ve won!

BEER FOR EVERYONE!

Excellent! I can't believe I wrote 9, I thought I had 7. In any case, that's my personal best so far... and it's equal to the individual best of the first challenge with stats available... :D

I must say that the improvement over the last challenge was big enough but not too much. This way, the next one will be tough but not unbeatable, once again.

A few regulars seem to be missing from the ranks, and as a side note, caspian would have been tied with Perplexed_Sjel, hadn't I nuked his premature Metallica single review. The quality was the highest ever, I think, and I haven't awarded that many 8-pointers in a week as far as I can remember. There's definitely some really good stuff there. One interesting observation I made is that drone and doom got more than their fair share of reviews, mostly due to Perplexed and caspian emptying the slot machine pretty comprehensively.

Excellent work, folks, and many thanks to Sean16. You're the man!

Lagavulin time!

You're probably getting too generous with your 8-pointers, but I won't complain :) I agree that the quality has been undoubtedly higher than before, even if I'm far from having read everything.
Another thing I want to comment on is the ratio (number of reviews) / (number of reviewers). The overall tendency if there aren't many more reviewers, but each reviewer is writing more reviews. There are also less "accidental" deflorations: the overwhelming majority of people writing reviews from virgins this week did it for the Challenge. The case of "the n00b participating without being aware of it" is getting less and less common.

Looking forward to the next challenge already. Will be difficult, but I'll aim to hit the 50 mark. At least I've gone down in history somehow, representing the more extreme genres. ;)

Wow that's awesome, hopefully next time I'll be able to participate more as well. I think I'm getting to the point where I might be able to write better reviews when I really try. Congrats to all :metal:

I really need to get my head out of my ass and contribute with more than just one review in the next challenge. So far I've participated four times with a grand total of four reviews. Maybe I should write more in general, making it easier when being 'under pressure'.

Whatever, congrats and thanks to all involved! :metal:

Don't hold your breath, it should be for May 2009. So many things could happen until then! Bands forming, bands splitting up, new reviewers, hells_unicorn leaving, Slipknot becoming metal, a new kid for Napero, a new girlfriend for Sean... who knows!

I think I'll visit a doctor tomorrow, for a little bit of snip-snip. I hope it's covered by the company contract.

360 is a lot... really. To beat that will be tough, but when more people write more reviews, also this could be possible.

8 reviews was ok for me, but perhaps mere could have been possible. A lot of bands still wait to be reviewed: Swan Art, Pale, Horrible Hour, Agony (Aut), Sempiternal (US).

I know its going to be months away, but I'm still looking forward to it. :p The part about new bands would be welcomed. Some good records scheduled for 09'. :) You also might want to hurry up and find yourself a woman, its December already.

How many kids do you have? If it were me, I wouldn't want to have that operation unless I had, quite literally, legions of spawn that I could no longer feed or care for. Before I ever end up in that situation, though, I must put together my legion-like harem of willing consorts...

Three. No need for more. Almost had five, but that's another story. I'm fertile, the Booby Animal is super-fertile, and I'm broke.

I don't think you'll have much to worry about, barring my band getting signed or me becoming a porn star depicting a sultan deflowering an ever expanding harem of virgins, I'll pretty much always be around. :hail:

Congrats to Perplexed and Caspian for the excellent output, and everyone else who contributed, 360 is a great accomplishment. I don't know if my insane output back in February of 2007 had something to do with the expanded interest in this, but this is the sort of thing that will really improve the content of this site.

Unfortunately my suicide attack failed because that liar Allah only got me 57 virgins. Oh well, no big deal, I'll just convert to Hinduism, be reincarnated, and then maybe this time try the more peaceful route of being a Zoroastrian monarch, and violate the hymens in a corporeal existence for a change.
