Yeah, I guess I didn't do that much. It still was a pretty great buzz for 20 minutes, but I didn't really get that fucked up until the end of the night because I drank 2/3rds of a bottle of Jack and had a whole bunch of other shots because the party had a free shots bar and we smoked quite a few joints as well.

Ha! That'll do it. The first time I did coke I wasn't impressed, but all I did was walk into a bathroom at a bar and caught two guys sharing lines. They offered and I did it, probably about as much as you did. I wasn't impressed. Later on I walked into the glorious light.

In regards to coke: Yessir. I feel like it's the logical conclusion to my love of coffee. Of course it's not really the same and it's way more intense but you get the gist. Strangely enough, after all the drugs I've done in my life, pot is the one that fucks me up the most. I get so into my own head and anxious that I pretty much can't function on weed. It's strictly an at home, before bed type of thing for me now.

Good job Mr. Fister!

Funny you should mention that. I don't smoke weed regularly, maybe once a month on average, but until two days ago I had never ingested it through food. I probably never will again. My friend got laced brownies for me and himself Sunday afternoon, before we intended to see the Morbid Angel show in Cambridge. I guess his dealer gave him a discount because he bought an 8th at the same time. Anyway, the brownie was free for me, so I figured "why not?" The high kicked in about 30 minutes after eating it, and it was fairly standard for 15 minutes or so, but then everything started clouding up, I heard sirens, and then I went blind. This was followed by the worst hallucinations I've ever had for like 45 minutes, followed by a brief respite, but then it all started up again just when I thought it was over. I managed to get back home, and I woke up the next day (yesterday) with intense aches throughout my entire body and the shakes.

I ended up missing the concert, believe it or not. Still pissed and slightly terrified by what happened to me. Weed's never done anything like that to me before, nor anyone I know. It was essentially a bad trip. I'm extremely wary of it now... I'd be interested to hear if anyone has had a similar experience.

Yeah, I have tripped out badly after eating weed brownies. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that your liver gets involved in metabolizing it so it acts differently than when smoked. Anyway, I ate probably around 3 grams before going to see Iron Maiden and I felt awful. White as a ghost, nauseous, dizzy, sweat was pouring out of me and I almost fainted.

Also, I was basically stoned for almost 6 years straight but after stopping 4 or 5 years ago I don't like smoking weed even occasionally. I just feel anxious and out of sorts.

I agree with most of the comments on that video.... "let them listen to real metal" "Ghost is about as metal as Korn" "I watched this whole video and must have missed where the metal started"

I'm not sure about the liver's involvement but the effect is definitely stronger. Less THC/cannabinoids burned off than when smoked, I would imagine. As far as how much I ate; I know an ounce was used, I just don't know how big the brownie pan was. I felt precisely as you described, too. The effects of the brownie completely took me by surprise as weed typically does very little for me, hence why I don't smoke it often at all.

I was just reading a Facebook note (from a metal/rock page) on Ghost releasing a new something, and all the people were like "if you don't like Ghost then go suck Tom Araya's penis" or "People need to be open minded if they want to like Ghost" and, I mean it, most comments were like that. Is this phenomenon happening all over the world or is it just in Chile?

They know they have shitty taste in music, so they have to be defensive about it.

There's some sort of stigma in some parts of the metal community where if you don't like Ghost, it's "obviously" because you're an elitist and you dislike anything that's popular. As if Ghost is objectively good or something.

I bought the new Summoning album around the same time I started DS, and thought the atmosphere of the two fit each other perfectly. Sounds like a damn fine plan, can't wait to hear it.

The biggest problem in all of this is that Ghost fans are a big enough part of the metal community to put a stigma upon anything

Eh, the first Ghost album is a fun little throwback, but the sophomore gargles my balls. I wouldn't mind how lightweight and poppy it is if they actually paid attention to the songwriting and it wasn't so rushed (the band admits they rushed it because they wanted more live material to work with).

As for pot brownies, yeah they get you way more baked than smoking. I remember the first time trying it this chick and I both had a slice and an hour in i wasn't feeling it so I ate half the pan. Quite possibly the most high I have ever been. Walking home back from her place at 2 am was just about the biggest buzzkill ever.

That kind of goes for any of the new styled bands like Ghost, random tech/melodeath, deathcore, etc. It all gets that kind of ridiculous reply.

I think that there's a difference between liking Ghost, and being one of these Ghost fans, who seem to overreact whenever somebody doesn't share their taste for the band.

I avoid Ghost and more so conversations with jingoistic Ghost fans about Ghost. They'll try to convince you to no end that the material is stellar, it's almost like a disease. Anyway, that's my experience. Ugh. There's only one song I can garner minuscule appreciation for and that is 'Ritual'.

I think the animosity towards Ghost and their fans is overblown. They're just a hot band right now. As Empy said, it's no different from the deathcore flavor of the week, today's tech death sensation, Trivium, FFDP, etc.

By the way, I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I had made a mental bet with myself that Iced Earth would be coming to Grand Rapids soon because the area is kind of rednecky. Today, Iced Earth announced a tour in April. The first date? Grand Rapids.

Too good.

^ What did you think of the latest album?

I thought of posting about this language game in the bi-lingual thread but I guess it could clutter it up. So here goes:
http://greatlanguagegame.com/

It's quite neat, especially the cool globe visualization they added under 'stats'. I scored 550 :ugh: (all thanks to some very similar sounding east european languages).

I just heard that my last remaining grandma had an attack. I don't know for sure yet, but it was probably some sort of intracranial hemorrhage. She's 87, and she has had pretty serious alzheimer's disease for the past 3 years, so we pretty much knew that this was just waiting to happen. Still it's a bummer. The rest of her physical condition is top notch though, but she isn't responding to anything right now. This may be the end. Sad, but not suprising. :(

That's awesome! This better be good though. You can't make music based on Dark Souls that's mediocre or boring.

Then you mustn't have heard Hellyeah, compared to which KsE is high art, or any of those Pantera-related groove metal projects like Damageplan.

Hellyeah have fewer annoying apologists than KsE, though.

Sounds like a treat! Dungeon Synth... Dark Souls... Call the project Draconian Sunset, compose it entirely on the Nintendo DS, include a cover of Depressive Silence and change your artist moniker to Duke Sacrilegivs.

Speaking of dungeon synth, anyone else but me heard this yet?:

KsE are significantly better than Hellyeah, I mean c'mon. AoJB is a legitimately decent record. Or at the very least, significantly better than any of Hellyeah's records...

Both of those bands are fucking terrible. Which one is worse is a moot point.

Compared to Hellyeah, KSE is the best band ever. Even remotely insinuating that KSE is as destructive a force on the senses as Hellyeah is just plain wrong.

This was quite literally the first album I listened to after visiting the dungeon synth blogspot. I like this album a lot. The repetitive, awesome synthwork coupled with that raw production. gewd stuff.

Putting this here because the movie thread is far too American for my liking. Good Finnish flick, especially if you like seeing naked fat dudes in saunas. But seriously, I enjoyed this film, it's sad yet uplifting at the same time, which sounds corny, but well worth a watch:

Alright, I've officially had it up to here with being a lard ass. Going to the gym every second day now. My gym buddy insists on going at 7:30 in the morning, but eh still worth it I guess. Got my bench up to 150 which still isn't great, but started deadlifting and managed 275 which I'm rather happy about. Forgot how rewarding lifting weights/exercising can be. Only been a week and I already don't feel like shit all the time anymore.

Cheers to that; I'm starting a new workout routine this week too. I'm in decent physical shape on account of my metabolism, but want to get working out again for stress-relief, better energy, not being sore after sitting at work all day, etc...Thankfully the new office complex I'm in comes with an expansive workout facility for $50 a year. :-D

I'm hoping I'll work up the motivation to get up at 5 AM and get a workout/shower in before the workday starts at 7:30, but until that lofty goal I'll likely just hit it up once the workday's over.

There's no way in hell I could manage 5 AM. I've got an even better deal for price - my university gym is included with the tuition.
