I know there's a thread already, but holy hot damn this new Satan album rules. I'm halfway through it and every song is a standout - really difficult to choose standouts. They really came through. Very admirable that a bunch of 50 year old guys rock harder than many of the young bands out today...these songs are just packed with killer, chugging riffing and shining leads. Amazing.

It's high school. Makes it so it looks like you put effort into it and teachers will praise your work. That seems to be how my teachers graded my papers.

Alright. We don't have high school here, actually, but the school I went to from 16 to 19 seemed to have a grading system where the highest grade was reserved for the second coming of Jesus.

I'm not gonna lie... I'm pretty happy that my school days are over... But then again, real, working life isn't all it's cracked up to be.

I finished my internship yesterday, I had to explain that Thor in the Norse mythology is the dude that inspired the Marvel character to a 12 years old, shit's fun. I only have 2 papers to write and I'm off for the summer, wooo!

Yeah, quality over quantity. Nappy's reviews are ace, especially the ones with the tinge of his characteristic humor. I don't mean to disrespect autothrall, I've read many of his reviews, but nowadays, I just look at the review score and that's about it.

I do miss summers off though...

<3 autothrall forever. The dude's quality throughout his absurdly huge catalog almost never dips below "good", and when he does a longer review of a bigger band, it's frequently one of the best ones on the page. Y'all be hatin'.

His reviews are far from the most engaging I've read on the site, but they're generally pretty descriptive and his vast review count means that he's reviewed so much stuff, it's easy to read a new review of his and sort of place the release being reviewed among similar things.

I also often joke that he heaps praise on some rather questionable things (and some good things, to be sure) but anything he gives a mediocre score to tends to be pretty great. Most things he gives low scores to do actually suck, at least.

autothrall's reviews are mostly good when they're longer. The shorter ones aren't really enjoyable to read though and come off really rushed.

I only agree with him maybe 50% of the time (on Queensryche's Operation Mindcrime he's spot on, but the new Septicflesh stuff he praises is just a mystery to me as to why), but he's a solid reviewer and occasionally really good. I don't really see a problem with him, or why so many people here read his stuff with disdain.

His older stuff was better (it goes all the way up to ''alright'') but his newer reviews make it obvious when he just doesn't give a shit.

Yeah, there are people who have mentioned him as their favourite reviewer, but I think most people make some strange distinction between 'the best' and 'my favourite', though. Well, maybe some people genuinely think that writing several times more reviews than the next most profilic one on m-a makes him effectively superior.

Also, I miss school - been out for too long and I HATTTEEE ITTT. Real life fucking blows. But, it is nice to be off at a set time.

I'm not sensitive to that stuff I just thought it was funny that he said a naked man on a stamp wasn't provocative that's all.

But... it isn't provocative at all. I mean, the guy isn't even showing his frontside. And even if you could see his balls and chain it still wouldn't be provocative. It's just a human body.

The kind of sensitivity brought on by sex-starvation, body shame, and tons and tons of yes. But personally, it took it being pointed out for me to even notice that he was naked. I just thought "cool! A friend of mine went to school in VA, to a formerly nudist-friendly art school. Those allowances were recently repealed. I guess I can understand from a hygienic point of view, but as long as a person brings along their own handkerchief for a public seat .. *shrug*. whuteva ..

To some of us, nudity is just a deeply personal thing, and we'd rather not be bombarded by that. I get that nudity =/= sexuality, but yeah.
