The Algorithm's new album leaked. It comes out for purchase on november 19th.

What do you guys think of the album? I thought it was pretty decent. I wish it was a little more metal though.

Kudos for creativity and quirkiness. Too bad it's also boring as fuck.

IT's not bad as an electronic music album, but it is definitely not a metal album in the slightest. It doesn't even sound like a djent album, the synths play such a prominent role. It's definitely closer to Pendulum than Meshuggah.

Also Skrillex blows, and everyone who knows any shit about electronic music knows this as well.

Check it out below, and don’t be afraid. This is mental.

Yeouch. Too many cooks spoil the broth. This was nasty...and not in a good way.

Sure, but at least he doesn't just play scales and masturbate the reverb pedal.

The mix of all of those genres may have looked good on paper, but the guy sounds like he can never seem to make up his mind about what the hell he wants to sound like.

Really? I read that and shudder in disgust and I never heard a single note.

Upon returning to MA after sampling some of these tracks, my first reflexive impulse was to delete this thread out of spite. Then I remembered I'm not a mod. :grumble:

Why is this on the metal forums? There is no metal in this... at all. This scene has become so bastardized. Anyone with a guitar who can play polyrhythms and breakdowns in Djent tuning can call themselves metal now. wtf? This guy isn't even playing the guitar. He just took like four power chord samples and raped the shit out of them.

The tracks sound like they should belong in an intense arcade/shmup game. Seriously, with a little editing, I don't think that I'd mind playing such a game with this music. On its own though, it definitely doesn't do anything for me.

This is the general discussion forum it doesn't need to be metal.

Also I don't think that genre is accurate even if the artist calls himself that. It is basically general electronic music with some djenty guitar rhythms here and there but it is definitely focused more on the electronic part.

tech-djent-death-dub-reggae-trance almost none of that is true hahaha. I wouldn't not listen to it because of that stupid genre. Like I said it is mostly electronic music that isn't super wobbley or anything.

I actually like it, me and my friend refer to it as "Djentronica." Its obviously not metal, but not everything I listen to is metal either (just a good 90%). Ordered the album last night.

I'm going to go against the grain and say that this is really awesome. I heard of The Algorithm a while back but I didn't know when they were coming out with a new album. I will have to buy this at some stage. Thanks.

I've listened to The Doppler Effect and Critical Error EPs from these guys, I enjoyed them, this sounds nice to my ears too, its funny how in video for "Trojans" is only the drummer and the mixer guy playing.

Okay, I wouldn't expect this to be popular here, but this level of backlash confuses me. It sounds a lot like Senmuth, minus the ethnic overtones, and Senmuth doesn't collect such vitriol. Now I'm tempted to pick it up just to spite y'all (except Mikey, but we all knew he was gonna like it).
