I want to listen to the new Русская Зима album, but Winamp displays nothing but bullshit. I've tried WMP and Foobar2000 and had the same problem. Is there any media player (compatible with the Last.fm scrobbler) that displays Cyrillic symbols? Or even better, is there a way to make Winamp display them?

What do you mean the player is displaying "nothing but bullshit"? I don't know what you're specifically talking about, but I had a similar problem when I downloaded an album by the band Шумовая Экзекуция and tried to play it in iTunes - my last.fm scrobbler identified the tracks as by ??????? ????????? (question marks instead of Cyrillic characters), but it wasn't even correctly scrobbling to my profile. Manually copying and pasting the Cyrillic characters from Character Map into the artist field fixed that problem, though.

I don't know where your problem is; Cyrillic both displays in the player and scrobbles correctly for me using WMP + the default Last.fm scrobbler.

you may need to install the character set - same reason why sometimes webpages in cyrillic/arabic/chinese load those small boxes instead of the actual text

Why does it matter if your player can display a certain type of text? And why does it matter if an mp3 player is compatible with the last.fm scrobbler? The only reason I can see is to inflate your internet-ego, (Look at me guyz, I listen to full albumz)

You're impertinent and stupid. Maybe that's something he likes? Have you thought about that? I like to scrobble music for my personnal taste, not to prove anything to no one. Change your behaviour.

iTunes has a Last.Fm plug-in and can support Cyrillic characters. However it has limited capability with lossless formats as your probably aware. I believe there is also a plugin on F2k.

On an unrelated note, I've always been intrigued by these character replacements. I think they look kind of awesome like this, implying some kind of alien tongue. Might be an idea worth pursuing by some enterprising band.
