It was for Marag.
Quote:
The letter "k" in Portuguese is pronounced "ka". So when Portuguese speakers (Brazilians in particular) want to express laughter in writing, one way that they do it is by writing "kkkkkk". A Portuguese speaker would read each k as sounding like "kakakakaka", which is somewhat akin to writing "hahahaha" in English. In other words, the sound of laughter. It's onomatopoeia.

That was my entire point.

First of all, that was a result of poor typing; it's not that I have poor grammar.
I have been proven in the past to be a hypocrite, though.

Koreans also write 'kkkkkkk' for laughing. Sadly, they sound exactly like 'kkkkkk' when they laugh, like they're trying to cough up a frog that they've choked on. And that's a fact, Jack!

Speaking of which, does anybody know what the Japanese thing "foo-foo-foo-foo" is? I've heard/read it in several places but the only one that pops in my head right off hand is a couple of trainers from pokemon.

"Fufufu"?

It's onomatopoeia for a snobbish, obnoxious sort of laugh. More meant to be pronounced as "Hoo-hoo-hoo".

Oh gawd, those reviews are either going to be Wintersun fanboys or "NOT WORTH THE WAIT, 0%" with nothing in-between.

You see, earlier today I had to take care of my little brother, and he asked me to sit down and watch TV with him. Me, having nothing better to do, sat down and joined him. What did I watch with him you ask? An episode of both Adventure Time and Regular Show. The Regular Show episode, in particular, had this scene. I have only question now; what kind of drugs are these people into? Because I want some.

Don't know if I'd call it awesome. It is weird as hell though. Same goes for Adventure Time.

I saw them live a few weeks ago when they supported Fear Factory. They weren't the best but the crowd got into them. I'm not terribly interested but I'd give them a listen if I had time and motivation.

I did want to give their drummer a cheeseburger, though. Damn he was skinny.

Yeah I've seen people from the Netherlands or some place type "jajaja" for laughing. The fact that they are missing one letter continuously makes my brain explode.

Doesn't "Ja" mean yes up there, too? Even more weird is Jah is the rastifarian god.

Thais type '555' for laughing. At least the younger ones do. It's because the Thai word for five is 'ha', put that together and you get something that sounds like 'hahaha'.

So IAV is a Marty eh? And I thought I was a unique snowflake...

As for Wintersun, the blatant wetting of pants by people round these parts means that it must/will be the greatest melodic snowmetal record ever. But looking at the solitary review on this site... I guess not. Why the hype?

Ja means yes in Dutch. :-P Most of my friends just type hahaha, though. Because, you know, that's the sound we make when we laugh. JAJAJA is more for spanish talking people... if I'm correct.

Correct. That's because <j> in Spanish is usually pronounced /χ/ (like Scottish "loch"), which I guess approximates to Spanish-speaking laughter when uttered in quick succession.

"Ja" means "yes" in German as well, so I wouldn't use "jajaja" to express da luIz, because, depending on the context, that can translate to something like "yeah yeah, bite me...".

by the way, no one here actually says "kkkkkkk" when laughing, it's an internet thing, and has a bit of an association with preteen League of Legends-playing scrubs, semi illiterate people, orkut members, and assorted scum of the internet

I think more people complain about Wintersun and their fans now than actually praise them fanatically.

A food analogy for Wintersun; they're like steak, ice cream, chocolate, French fries, pancakes, a tuna sandwich, oranges, and all sorts of tasty stuff if you put them on a blender, hit the button, and drink the result. The thing is, all of the aforementioned stuff is delicious on it's own, but when mixed together? :puke:

Haha, that's an interesting observation. I'd call myself indifferent. I liked the first album, but when I say I 'liked' it, I mean I've listened to it a couple of times on my own accord and quite enjoyed it but never considered it to be the pinnacle of all that metal has ever achieved. I haven't listened to the new one yet, but I should soon to see what all the fuss is about.

I guess I don't really pay attention anymore then. Hm. I never liked their old stuff and the new one is kinda bullshitty with how short it is, but eh, I don't really see enough people calling them geniuses or praising them as saviors of metal anymore to really get mad...and I guess I just don't get mad about that stuff now. :p

It has really epic moments, but since I love Jari's more guitar oriented music I was a little disappointed, as the guitar appears a little drowned with everything else going on. Also the songs seem to shift between parts that just stand for themselves, without achieving a proper whole. Which is to say, the songwriting was better on the first album. All in I'd give it a good 78%, but maybe it grows on me some more (especially my criticism about the songwriting, that may be a matter of "getting used" to the songs). Was it worth waiting eight years for it? I don't know. Who cares. The eight years are over. The album is out now. The fact that it took eight years to make and release the first half of it shouldn't be taken into account when judging the music.

Does anyone else ever take a minute and just think about how absolutely fucking awesome the 1986 Transformers movie was (and is?) It's got to be like the most metal kids' movie ever produced, unless i'm really missing something. A true masterpiece clocking in at just over 1 hour, how did they take the same brand and ruin it with the live action movies? Fuckin Hollywood.

To all those who find the US voting system and politics ridiculous: I think the USA should adopt Sharia law.

So managed to miss a fight after the pep rally at my school. Usually I don't really care whenever I miss a fight, but when I heard that one of the people got knocked out and was bleeding, I was kind of disappointed.
