Yeah, those are pretty much the reasons I wanna see it..... the weather has made my decision a little bit simpler though, the weather forecast is very cloudy and rainy.

I'd have a lot less albums if I knew the answer to that. :-D

sometimes you get surprised. I've found plenty of awesome gems by buying blindly.

You don't blind-buy albums from bands you don't like, though, do you?

If so, you guys have a lot more money to burn than I do...

Well, I generally don't actually buy albums from bands I don't like. I do make exceptions though if it's a band that's really well thought of or influential and the album is considered their best. I used to pretty frequently blindly buy albums if I liked their album art enough though. As a whole though, I think I've been buying increasingly less albums the last two years or so.

yea not specifically bands I know I already hate. I'm talking about unknowns completely. like I might know... well this is supposed to be some sort of death metal.. or raw black metal... or damn that's a pretty awesome album cover.

and as well as I.. i don't buy as many blindly, just about everything is on youtube so I can find at least a single track to judge by. if i like the one song I'd probably get it. I don't want or need to know what the entire album sounds like cause then there is no surprise for when I finally get it in the mail!

Flittering was real, just not funeral doom, and there was a lot of untruths about the band.

Now, do you remember what country this mystery OSDM band was from? What was the first letter of their name or the EP?

Heh...I found it a little while ago - Divine Eve's As the Angels Weep. It's not the band's only album (I could've sworn they only released one EP >_>;), but they are death/doom and my description of the cover art was more-or-less accurate.

Flittering is in the works. >:)

Divine Eve is awesome. I have everything aside from the split and the first demo. that was one of those blind purchases that I had meantioned earlier.

I like what I hear!

I've always enjoyed album covers that take from surrealism. Don't see too many of those.

The desolate landscape and distorted animals with extremely long, stick-like legs in some Salvador Dali works are far more visually disturbing, unsettling and intriguing than pretty much anything else.

Meh, I hate online audience interaction. I've been watching the transit of Venus via a local live stream; not only was the perspective frustrating (zoomed in so far that the scale of the event via the sun/Venus comparison was completely lost), but the site had a ridiculously annoying 'live audience chat' window next to the footage that couldn't be turned off. Half the screen was taken up by unremitting inane commentary; between the lame trolling and the constant flow of 'lol' and 'yeah' (why would you bother just to post only that, and in response to no-one else? why?), every third comment had someone asking 'so what are those other black dots on the sun?' (apparently blind to the previous dozen explanations of sunspots). Granted, it was my fault for sticking with such a bad site for so long - naturally, I switched eventually - but I can't help wondering whose bright idea it was to do it that way...

Yeah, the inelegance of a Kindergarten class would be quite high - in that Kindergarten students aren't in any way elegant in their behavior. So the same can be said of Youtubers and the internet community in general... since many of them are rude little brats.

Since television has gone all pc here, its painful to watch, it's like the target audience is people with an IQ of 75 (or that's what they're expected to end up with).

All we get are soaps, cookery programs, unfunny sitcoms, big brother, celebrity wannabes, and quiz shows (the egg heads :ugh:).

What happened to The World at War, cutting edge sci-fi, History programs, Michael Palin visiting places, Ray Mears survival, Great Military Leaders of antiquity, Robot Wars :(

You should've done what I did: Go outside and find organised events where you get to look through telescopes and viewing screens, in this case my university. It was pretty cool, and the advantage with not viewing it on the internet is that I don't have a live stream of people saying 'lol' and 'yeah'. Instead I have other students and academics discussing the astrophysics of the Sun and the significance of the event. To top it off, me and some friends found a trolley and starting running around campus to give "trips to Venus". We got several laughs but no-one wanted a ride. And there was free food. Must've been the most fun I've had to something related to physics.

Too bad it was completely overcast and raining. At least here, anyway.

I've been listening to a lot of doom metal lately, namely death/doom and funeral doom. I just made an order for 4 more doom albums online. I'm loving it all and I crave more.

I ate a hefty lunch and drank a bit of coffee. Like, well, a gallon. Now my stomach makes funny sounds, and actually the noise resembles certain sections on The Axis of Perdition's early albums.

Nice to read that you're back, Mikey! Doom is an excellent soundtrack to winter, methinks. What bands have you been listening to?

@Atrocious_Mutilation: That is indeed a much better option. Sounds like what apparently went on at my campus as well; our SSS (Science Students Society) is renowned for its epic feasts. Unfortunately, it's the pointy end of semester over here, so I'm not really leaving the house or, you know, sleeping. I didn't mean to be on FFA, either; it just kinda happened. Oh, well...I'll be writing all night anyway, might as well get a break by thinking about something else.

I never really left, heh. Thank you. :)

Mainly Esoteric, Ea, Comatose Vigil, and Shape Of Despair, but also a bit of Ophis, Abstract Spirit, and some others. It's been great for my bleak moods. I ordered Evoken albums, plus Loss and another Esoteric album, too, so I'm dying for those to arrive!

Don't know enough about most of the straight-up funeral doom bands on that list, but Esoteric, Ophis and Abstract Spirit are pretty excellent.

All those bands are excellent. To the people who know them, is it just me or is the 2011 Abstract Spirit album reallly mediocre compared to their other, excellent stuff?

Never had much time for Royals especially since reading about Wat Tyler, but I, like many, respect our Queen, and over the last four days there has been a great atmosphere.
Some People automatically associate the celebrations with the past, but for the ordinary person it's nothing to do with that, it's like the last night of the proms, a time for fun and most people love the parades and pageantry, people come from all over the world to see it.

It's a shame the bbc can't understand the nations feelings.

I did a trade with a guy in New Zealand back in the last week of April. well I got my cds but he hasn't gotten his.

Anyone had any issues or trouble shipping to New Zealand? I've shipped to Australia before and that took a month. this just seems to be excessively long, plus he keeps emailing me telling me hasn't gotten it and expects me to do something about it.

I like Horror Vacui personally. I think it's just as good as their previous stuff.

I found it pretty cool to watch since I'd been there about 9 months ago, and its pretty nuts seeing places that were empty when I was there just packed with people.

edit: MikeyC. So its just me being all disenfranchised then ha.

Eh, they should pay for their own fucking party. I, personally, hate seeing Union Jacks everywhere and all these tacky monuments to some chinless oaf, so the "atmosphere" was rather trite and jingoistic to me. I was even in London at the time, but for Manilla Road-related purposes. :D

But that's just it, it wasn't just their party.
This last week I've driven through many small villages and it has been an amazing experience seeing everywhere getting ready for the festivities.
